Est.1974
After seeing these guys for the past 4-5 months, one catch in a preseason game is not going to make the difference. I'd agree with this. I'd say Thomas' play on special teams last week carries more weight than his 40yrd TD play, in terms of his overall standing on making this team. wrecker
I call it 'The Rod Factor'. He needs to decide if he wants to be Rod Stewart, Rod Gardner [50-50] or Rod Smith. I hope he chooses the latter.
Gregpeck99
I'd like to see only Austin, Thomas, Armstrong, Williams, Banks and Hoge play WR tonight. Its show me time.
gutlead74
DT has shown flashes in receiving and returning. There is a lot of positives there. Where he has been consistently GREAT is in his blocking. He always blocks his tail off and that is something Shanahan covets and insist on in his WRs and is why DT will make this team. I think that most of coaches comments are trying to pull the potential out that he sees. I of course could be wrong but that's my take fir what it's worth. MK I think is by far the better blocker out of the two tho. I hate to say it but so far I don't see him making this team due to him not being able to stay healthy so he can be on the field to show case himself. Conn
I don't know.....make fun of me for this feeling, but I've got this vibe for tonight, that we're going to see Devin Thomas beast it. He's going to break out the "new-look" DT against the Ravens. Feel free to bring this post back up if he doesn't But I'm feeling it.
TheLongshot
I think part of the reason why he's down on the depth chart is because the coaching staff knows he needs a lot of work, and those who are not starters are going to get more reps in preseason. It shouldn't be a shock that he's a little raw, since we knew that when he was drafted. He only had one year of big time college football before he came out. He got rated highly because they saw his natural talent and thought he could be coached up. While DT has a little ways to go to get his consistency, he seems to be working like a low draft pick trying to make the roster, and I like seeing that. It is what will get him on this roster. Dukes and Skins
I don't think many posters have taken this into consideration. Agreed he was a ridiculous talent at WR who was raw and we all were hoping that he would just have a little coaching and then be ready for star status. He never really got the proper coaching and now it seems like he's having to relearn everything with a good coach who was one heck of a WR in the NFL in McCardell. It's nice seeing DT hungry and wanting to do anything to make the team because we need those people on our team
Hubbs
I'm expecting him to be this year's Sidney Rice. Raw, very physically gifted receiver coming out of college, does virtually nothing his first two years, then along comes a Pro Bowl quarterback right as he hits that magical third year that every fantasy player in the country knows about. There's actually alot of ppl that are not Skin's fans who think this. I thought Kelly would do this last year, lets hope DT can pull it off. Well if he hasn't earned it by now maybe we should let his *** go. Kelly isn't any better and as of right now neither look like they will be here next year if even this year.
