Jeff in D.C.
Well he does live there :whoknows: Wasn't aware of that, but given the interview he had with Dan Hellie I feel pretty confident now that he's going to stay.
benskins26
No way the niners are as attractive as the Vikings or the skins. If he leaves DC, he goes to minny. SF may be interested, but they are nowhere near the SB. The closest the Niners get to a ring now is when Singletary flashes the 85 bears' ring or Jerry Rice shows up at camp. But then again with how weak the NFC west is this year, they will probably make the playoffs as the NFC West champs. They'll lose to a superior wildcard team from the North or the East. I actually think San Fran would be a great fit. That team has been quietly assimilating young talent for years, and this could be the year they explode. IF they get competent qb play.
Redskins Anonymous
^^^^The fact is that anywhere Mcnabb goes that's not the Raiders is going to win and be a contender. This is why I see him not ever getting past Dan $nyder. Snyder will pay him. So it's kind of a moot point. But you're probably right that if he did go to SF, they would win that division EASILY. Thus it would make them a good fit. But it's not happening IMO. Again, Dan always gets his man.
army_skins_fan
It may be a dead horse, but with Brady and Manning on the market and the 20 mil a year price tag being thrown around for whoever replaces Farve at Minnesota, can we not turn this in to our advantage? If he wants to go, let him. Maybe Danny Boy can buy one of the others.

Dark Acre
How ironic would it be for McNabb to win a SB here? He would eclipse Sonny (who became a star with Philly). It would be all the more ironic if McNabb gets into the HoF, and if he gets a ring and has some very good seasons, it's not a stretch, particularly since he would be the first black QB in the HoF, which is, unfortunately, a consideration. Would he go in as a Skin?

kiingspadee
Manning won't leave the Colts the owner already said he is going to make Manning the richest player in NFL history I believe he said here it is NDERSON, Ind. (AP) — Jim Irsay won't let Peyton Manning (FSY) walk away from the Colts next season — no matter the cost. Indy's owner reiterated Monday that he intends to make Manning the NFL's highest-paid player even if it takes the prohibitive franchise tag to keep the only four-time MVP in league history in blue and white. "The bottom line is we'll get something done and when it happens just depends," Irsay said during the Colts' first training camp practice. "I said he'd be the highest-paid player and he may already be if we go with the tag. I'd love to see him be here and break all those records as a Colt." I see this being one of those moments where a QB goes somewhere else and lights up the field (sadly Favre anyone) and look at Brees. He left and went to Saints and is amazing to watch. redskins55
I need to say this:MCNABB'S CONTRACT LIES ON PEYTON MANNING AND TOM BRADY! IT IS LIKE ROOKIE CONTRACTS WHEN EVERYONE WAITS FOR CERTAIN GUYS GET SIGNED! You do not want to underpay/overpay so you need a baseline. I keep hearing about this and people fail to realize this big point! An EXCELLENT point. I never looked at it that way.
mossomo
The chances are that Shanny wants to take a look see before Sndyer overpays for an unproductive vet? Whuuut!? What bro. Unproductive? McNabb? GFYS! Hey - If McNabb produces this year, you can't post next year; if McNabb doesn't, I won't post next year. Deal?

TheShredder
McNabb's chances of staying with Shanahan = 80%.McNabb knows that Mike Shanahan will get the Redskins organization turned around fairly quickly from the mess that Zorn and Cerrato helped to create in 2008-2009. And he also knows that Kyle Shanahan is a talented OC who will put him in position to excel on the field while taking a lot fewer hits than in Philly because Washington will in fact run the football consistently. Besides, McNabb played the past decade in the NFC East. Any prideful professional would want the chance to step on the Eagles' corpse on the way to bigger and better things in the NFL. He has those two dates with Philly circled on his calendar I have to agree. Too many positives here in the current situation to expect that a deal won't get done. He already said that he wants to be a Redskin for life. He is a franchise QB and Snyder will pay for that. I've got my Mcnabb jersey!!!
kiingspadee
An EXCELLENT point. I never looked at it that way. One of my fellow Skins fans at work who also listens to 106.7 The Fan was talking to me on Saturday evening and was saying how McNabb is going to Minny next season doing that whole routine that is commonly being heard because of one article a few weeks ago - and I pull my hair out every time I hear people fretting over the extension. It is pretty simple to understand what is taking so long. Now say it's been a very long time and Manning and Brady both have deals then I can say we can start to sweat just a tiny bit - but people just need to take a deep breath and look at the big picture and stop thinking that it solely lies on the Front Office and McNabb
HBnotBlades
I haven't seen it mentioned here yet, but the impending CBA talks are likely slowing down the process as much as the contract talks for Manning and Brady. As of right now there are a ton of questions to be answered before teams can plan for the future with any kind of foresight. Will there be a 2011 season? How about a salary cap? What will that salary cap be? Will the cap/CBA treat bonuses, special clauses (like the poison pill), dead money, etc. like the old agreement or will there be new rules? Nobody has any idea at this point, but when a new CBA gets closer, the details become a bit less murky, and Allen can clearly see how a deal will affect the financial future of the Skins, I think we'll see him move forward in contract talks. Basically, with Brady and Manning's contracts still up in the air along with the rules that have a huge effect on these top dollar contracts, it might be borderline negligent to commitment while we're essentially flying blind. Darc Requiem
Unless you know something about Warren Moon that no one else knows, McNabb won't be the first black QB in the HoF. You beat me too it. If he didn't have to spend 5 years in the CFL to get a shot in the NFL, he'd have all the records that Favre owns.
Dark Acre
Unless you know something about Warren Moon that no one else knows, McNabb won't be the first black QB in the HoF. Good point! I stand corrected. First black SB-winning QB in the HoF! (Unless you know something about Doug Williams I don't.) Kind of tells you that w/o that ring, you're harder to be remembered. TheShredder
Bingo, if we want him , he's not going anywhere. They can put the RFA tag on him and get two first round picks...How stupid would that make Andy Reid and the Feagles look!?! That would be awesome! Hypothetically of coarse...How about this: DM5 comes here for 2010 season for a second and a 4th rounder. We win the Super Bowl! Skins tender McNabb for 2 first round picks. Vikings sign him to a 80 million dollar deal with 50 mill guaranteed for 6 years (because they seem to like 41 yr old QB's). We get another SB trophy and 3 first round picks in 2011!!!! Duuuuuude! MWCREDSKINS
50-50 is my bet. I think he definitely wants to play it out here. But who says by the end of the season we're not more attractive than Minnesota or Arizona. Both teams lost major pieces and are just as old as us. I want to see how McNabb plays before commiting long term to him however
