In other news, Neymar Jr made his return to PSG. He was apparently booed by the home crowd every time he touched the ball.

So, he only landed a game winning left footed bicycle kick in stoppage time...

They weren't booing that one.

The above is a cut up of all of his touches. There are a few moments Ray Hudson described as naive, which is apt, but the confidence, calm, and skill (apart from the goals at the beginning, 3:25, 4:25, and 5:40 stand out especially) is unbelievable for his age. By the end of the clip you see they started shading the right center back over to him every time. For a 16 year old.

And that's not Ossasuna, that's Valencia, a team that won the Copa Del Rey and was in the Champions League.

They're going to have to manage him carefully. I don't know how you keep this from getting to his head. Hopefully he has a strong support system.

Our competition’s finally here again! This time with L’pool as defending Champions for the first time in 14 LONG years.

In the history of the biggest competition in all of football, only 6 clubs have ever been to three straight finals-

5. Madrid.    1956-1960. W5.

3. Madrid.    2016-2018. W3.

3.

Benfica.    1961-1963. W2/ L1.

Ajax.          1971-1973.  W3.

Bayern.     1974-1976.  W3.

AC Milan.  1993-1995. W1/ L2.

Juventus. 1996-1998. W1/ L2.

Just 7 times in the 64 year history of the European Cup/ UEFA Champions League, has a club got to 3 or more straight finals. That’s the monumental task ahead of us as we set out on this latest journey around the Continent that will hopefully wind up in that awesome City, where East meets West, on the banks of the Bosporus, next May. And would anyone seriously bet against this Liverpool side, the clear beat side across Europe,  joining that illustrious group and being back where our European season started last month in the final in Istanbul?

We’ve been to back-to-back finals three times. Let’s go one better and go for the hat-trick!

First things first. Napoli to open the group tomorrow night. I’d be absolutely made up with a draw.

That, along with winning all the home games, qualifies us all things being equal. A win would be the icing on the cake.

Get in. Get anything we can. Get out.

And the MOST important thing of all, may everyone that's travelled out to the absolute S/hole of Italy come home safe and unscathed. For someone that lives for European trips, I can honestly say I’m dead happy to be sat at home typing this and not in Southern Italy. You couldn’t pay me enough to ever go back to that absolute cesspit of inhumanity. Twice is MORE than enough there ta.

Up the 6 times European F Royalty Reds!

The road to #7 starts here!

Hail.

Into these horrible s/houses Redmen!

Heard enough last night and today about indiscriminate attacks going on. These will get volleyed all over at Anfield November. Just hope everyone survives tonight as I know what it's like when they dump you back the port with no protection the early hours after a couple of hours riding round the ring road. Stay safe boys.

But first things first. Let's pay the ****s back in style on the pitch!

Hail.

This must have been a pretty special moment too:

It's crazy watching him play... In the heat of the action he's cool, like he's just kicking it around on the street. Then they cut to his face other times and he's terrified/on the verge of tears/elated/whatever and you're like... okay... dude actually is 16.

The funny thing is he's still technically a Juvenil A player... They haven't even called him up to Barca B yet!

Least the lads I normally travel with have made it in the ground ok. Unlike those who've been attacked the pick-up point. And at various stages through last night and today.

This S happened over here, we'd be banned again. Hell, could you imagine the National outcry if Napoli advised there fans to not leave the hotel in Liverpool November like our clubs safety advice has been for this one?

But every F year in Naples and nottin EVER gets done. UEFA are a continued disgrace.

F batter these pricks Reds!

Hail.

Seriously don't understand the point of VAR?

The stonewall pen not given Sat'day. Now a stonewall dive tonight is.. The City non-goal Tottenham. (Although that was slightly different with the ridiculous new handball rule but still.). If you aren't overruling clear and obvious, just what's the F point?

Seriously frustrating to see a real top drawer game of football like that change on something like that when it was supposed to have been brought in to clear all this up.

Overall a really good performance that we just ended the wrong side of against another very good side in their house. Just one of them.

The officiating aside, no harm. No foul. We'll be sound for Sunday and the rest the group.

ALL thoughts and concerns now turn to the safety of the lads out in Naples and nobody getting filled in later tonight in that s/hole.

Hail.

Great news to read the lad who collapsed and left the ground for the hospital with head injuries from an earlier attack is sound this morning as it was pretty worrying following that through the game last night.

I love the Police reports of '2 fans' being attacked the Port. From everyone I've spoken to there were far more than that with gangs of ultra's tipping up at the pick-up point with chains, belts and various other weapons. There's the bar Ste and his mates were in that got attacked. A few of my mates were in a bar earlier in the day that was attacked by the scooter brigade wielding chains. (Thankfully nobody got injured there.). A couple of others got attacked Monday night, and then really suffered at the hands of the Carabinieri (who are just as bad as the ultra's in many instances), before being put on a plane home Tuesday morning for no good reason, And you mooch around twitter there are other instances being reported.

Then you get Swansen on Sky telling everyone what an 'intimidating, but beautiful place Naples is!' Painting a completely false narrative the whole piece.

If this happened in L'pool we'd be getting banned. Hell, the very fact the official blurb from the club on safety warned you to stay in your hotel!!!!! ..... Could you imagine if that was said to Napoli fans November on their visit to our City? There'd be a National outcry and we'd be the scum of the Earth again.

Thankfully, everyone I know,  and those I usually travel with, have appeared to have got away unscathed. But there was a reason I was sat at home last night and not in Naples. And I absolutely live for European aways. Single worst place I've ever had the misfortune of visiting with L'pool. Without being dramatic, the absolute cesspit of inhumanity who absolutely revel in a feral like existence that doesn't welcome outsiders kindly. A moody, filthy, impoverished s/hole that's underpinned everywhere with the Mafia edge overseeing everyone. Which manifests itself in the worst possible way when it comes to football. Just not an enjoyable trip the whole time you're there as you're constantly watching your back.

But so long as UEFA continues to turn a blind eye, and the authorities in Naples do the same, nothing will ever change.

And now, ala the Europa game, you're liable to get a slew of revenge attacks at Anfield the return with anyone remotely Italian looking getting volleyed all over. Which is not the way to go at all but is sadly the nature of these things. It just creates a real moody atmosphere whenever you play the horrible ****s.

One thing's for sure, you couldn't pay me enough money to ever go there again after seeing absolutely no change in the 10 year or so gap or whatever it was between the Europa under the Hodge and last year. Twice is MORE than enough for me in that hell hole.

There comes a time, when chains and worse are being openly used on anyone and everyone, that your own personal safety outweighs following the Reds. As Roma brought home in stark contrast to poor Sean Cox the semi.

So the abuse Andy Robbo's been receiving from Scotland 'fans' to the point he's deactivated his Twitter account .....

International fans are F idiots.

Lads go away, with a WHOLE different calibre of player, working with a coach who has a WHOLE different approach to training for 2 weeks with oft completely different styles/ systems, and they expect them to perform to the rhythm they have with their respective clubs.

Imbeciles.

Another weekend, another ridiculously wrong VAR decision. This time Tottenham getting F over and costing them 3 vital points. Aside from the long wait getting there over splitting hairs.

Just wrong on every level as it continues to fail spectacularly.

Worst thing that's ever been introduced. Sooner it's binned the better.

Getting nothing from Salah/Mane and still winning at Chelsea. Really pushing our luck.

they pulled off the throttle in the 2nd half. with the run of games they're in, game management must be done, but it leads to shaky moments like today

I hate missing games. Particularly outstanding ones/ wins like that. This week, we’ve been involved in 2 superb games of football. Against 2 superb teams. Napoli would, IMHO, finish comfortably top 4 in the PL. As despicable as their support is, that’s a bloody good side. And I’ve been more and more impressed by what Lampard's done at Chelsea. They’ve played some superb football this season and look to me, along with Leicester, a ways ahead of Arsenal and Utd for that 4th spot. (I know Tottenham’s had a stuttering start but they’re still the clear 3rd best side the Country IMHO.).

If we had to lose one, losing the first of 6 group games, in the hardest game of the 6, was the one to lose. Beating Chelsea, in their house, to send out another MASSIVE statement after City yesterday, was the perfect bounce back.

First this weeks admin-

We are now the first team in English top-flight history to win its first 6 games of a season in successive seasons.

Putting up the joint second highest consecutive winning run in English top-flight history at 15.

Club record 7th straight away win.

This is now the football clubs longest unbeaten league run in 29 years. 23 games. (W 19/ D 4.).

And the manager who’s just extended his longest unbeaten run, now becomes the manager who’s won the second highest number of games through his first 150 in the PL-

1. Mourinho. 105.

2. Klopp. 92.

3. Ferguson. 90.

And just because, even though he was quiet today, another assist to add to Mo-Messi watch-

Salah’s L’pool games with at least 1 goal involvement:

113 Games. 102 GI. (75 Goals/ 27 Assists.).

In the PL for the mighty Reds-

80 Games. 80 GI. (58 G/ 22 A.).

Phenomenal.

Shout out to Adrian again today. There’s NO WAY we are sat here 6 out of 6 with Mignolet. And this is a lad who was literally on the street when we picked him up. Not missed Alisson, well arguably the best goalie in the World, at all. Which is just remarkable when you stop and think about it. Matip outstanding again in front of him. Lost our way second half a tad but all credit to Chelsea for the intensity and attacking intent. Two top drawer goals from both sides. And, albeit the VAR decision was correct and swift, I wouldn’t have complained had it stood pre-VAR as that’s impossible to see full speed. Mounts what, big toe was off-side? That’s just football man. This search for perfection, which has never been in sports with the human element (and never been that big of an issue until lately), is going way too far to me.

Outstanding win in what was always going to be our toughest game of the opening 6. All these lads do is find ways to win games of football 9 times out of 10.

Not that they need telling, but City, your equal’s are in this until the death again!

Roll on Wednesday and another new ground the League Cup. (Along with the best striker many have never seen finally making his professional debut. ;) ).

Up the PERFECT Reds!

Hail.

It's surely going to be a L'pool clean sweep at the Best FIFA awards from the last season in Milan tonight right?

van Dijk the Men's Player

Alisson the Men's Goalkeeper.

and Klopp the Men's Coach.

Something off it's it not.

Hail.
