Just got a rumor from a Scouse mate that Nicholas Pepe is a done deal, and will be announced after the CL final. Don’t know the gent very well (we’ve been conversing through a forum), so no telling if this has legs, but would be a MASSIVE signing, IMO. Like him for our attack much more than Werner.

He plays the exact same position as Salah.

Been bordering on trolling lately.

Salah plays mainly on the right wing, but has played centrally, and has switched wings with Mane during the course of games from time to time. The fluidity of Klopp’s attack is what makes him, and a potential signing like Pepe, so dangerous.

Have you watched Pepe play? Yeah, he plays on the right wing, but he comes inside at will, and with his ball skills, could easily play anywhere along Klopp’s front three, or even drop in behind a central striker in the 4-2-3-1 Klopp used quite a bit early in the season.

I understand he’s your club’s no 1 target, and overtures from clubs having more success may thwart that...don’t take it out on us.

Good lord in heaven this is getting quite sad. He plays on the right wing and likes to cut inside with his ball skills. Can also play through the middle. Salah does neither of those things right? I’m not 12 years old, I can have an objective opinion about Liverpool without it having anything to do with United, who have exactly what to do with what I posted?

All I said is that he plays the same position as Salah. You responded in an astoundingly combative manner for absolutely no reason and decided to bring up United for reasons that still escape me. Seriously dude how old are you.

There's a lot of rumours we're fixing to sign someone that will make you a LOT happier than that as soon as Madrid's out the way.

Talking of, Ki-Jana Hoever and his Dutch mates are in the final of the European U17's Championship today at 4:30 PM BST in Dublin against Italy. (11:30 AM EST.).

Sure you can find a stream online or it should be streamed on the UEFA YouTube channel.

If it interests you like.

Enjoyable late afternoon's watch that with some belter goals

Congratulations to the Dutch.

Hopefully, the first medal of many Ki-Jana will receive for club and Country during what I have little doubt will be a long one at Anfield.
Of all the super talent at Kirkby, this one's really special. And the rapid rate already he's progressed the short time he's been here ....

Exactly the type of response I’d expect. Your quippy remarks lately have added little to the conversation except to incite. You had been adding earlier, yet the deterioration continues.

Yeah I’m the only one that takes a sarcastic pot shot once in a while and they’re actually rather mild. Not sure how you mistook a simple statement about a right inside forward playing the same position as Salah the wrong way. If you’re looking for more of a hybrid inside forward/playmaker I think Ziyech would be a better fit at a lower price.

"Maybe this is the moment to have more responsibilities, it will perhaps be with PSG, with great pleasure, or perhaps elsewhere, with a new project"

Bang ! , Kylian is becoming another prick with an inflated ego. :nono:

You had your chances to take responsabilities on the field during the CL, where were you when it mattered the most ?

Liverpool and Tottenham are playing the CL final none of these clubs have players like Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappé.

Read somewhere he’s leveraging PSG because he wants Neymar out. They’re almost as big a circus as United atm.

He wants Mo' Money, not sure about Neymar since he's a promo tool for the evil empire.

Neymar: "It's like we're brothers with Mbappé" (Google translated)

Sorry, just took your comment as if Liverpool would be mad to buy someone that plays Salah’s position. Again, the fluidity of Klopp’s attack sees players interchange positions throughout matches. I do believe Liverpool need another young player in the attack who can spell any of the front three for much needed rest. Salah, Mane, and Firmino have played the bulk of games these past two seasons, so having someone that can replace any without much drop off seems good business.

I think Pepe is far more talented than Werner or Jovic, and would fit almost seamlessly into the Reds attack. Pool will lose Sturridge this summer, which leaves only Origi and Brewster as bench players. Origi has shown well this season, but if another club comes in with a £30M bid, I could see him gone as well. Brewster has loads of talent, but has yet to feature in the senior squad. Seems reasonable to look for one more attacking option.

I also agree that Liverpool could use a creative midfielder, but I don’t rate Ziyech that highly, as a “Klopp-type player”. Got a good eye for a pass, and can find the net, but often seems loath to track back and put in the defensive work Klopp requires. My personal hope for an AM buy would be Houssem Aouar from Lyon. He’s also about 5 years younger than Ziyech.

Speaking of Lyon, wonder if Depay might be available? A mercurial talent to be sure, but a world class talent nonetheless. Just 23, he still has a number of years in his career. If Klopp could work his magic with him, and his bestie Gini keep him motivated and in check, he could be that seamless plus-in to the attack. Pepe remains my #1 wish though...bucket loads of talent him.

Read they did that so he can continue rehab with the first team training staff. Still a long shot to be fit for ANC, let alone the CL final. But, mehopes!

.....

I intend to watch the Lille game Friday night as I honestly know next to notion on Pepe save for some of the highlights reels are beyond sick. Another top draw African ala Mo and Sadio ..... Yes pease!

Brewster's gonna' (pleasantly) surprise a lot of folk next season all things being equal

Through his year and a half off rehabbing that horrific injury, he's become the forgotten man not just among L'pool fans but Nationally too.

Let's not forget the superstar the U17 WC wasn't Foden, Sancho or Hudson-Odoi. It was Rhian. Kids quality.

Why are we talking letting Harry Wilson go to Wolves?  Kids a player and if you want a domestic cup run that's the type of kid you give the arm band to to lead the youngins out there.  I trust the process and all and there are certainly worse places he could go to sharpen his skills than Wolves, but if for no other reason than to show the kids that get sent on loan that you will be rewarded if you have a good spell, he needs to stay.

The curious case of Harry Wilson ......

A really strange story Wilson. Scoring and assisting goal is literally all he does. Often in spectacular fashion. And no matter if he’s having an off day, he has that uniquely invaluable knack of adding a goal contribution the vast majority of games he plays.

His goals/ assist record the last few years since he returned from a bad injury have been phenominal. By common consensus he’s been by far and away the beat player the Country U23’s level for a few years now. Always been this super talent coming through, but it wasn’t until he started adding the ridiculous numbers his game really elevated. (Still Wales youngest International.). Yet he’s never really had a look in under Klopp, who has an open door to the first team squad from the Academy, and is one of the best around with young lads. So much so that he got bumped full time to first team training Melwood, Then demoted back to Kirkby!

So what gives?

I always thought it was probably gonna’ be his slight size or the only thing he lacks, genuine pace, that would hold him back. The ridiculous technique has never been in question. By far the most talented every age group coming through. But then he goes out to a struggling Hull side last year and tears it up the physical Championship. Every challenge hes met head on and come through with flying colours.

Yet still he was flipped out again this year. To turn around and yet again tear up the Championship his first full season as a professional. To now being widely touted as having a £25 million fee on his head we're seemingly willing to deal at.

It's a really, really curious situation.

On the face of it, as witnessed yet again all season, he’s more than PL ready. So what gives day-to-day? I mean the club are still real high on him. Made sure he extended for another 5 years before they found the perfect loan situation at Derby for his continued development. And they would seemingly be happy flipping him to a PL club on loan next year to continue that. But there’s still this BIG arl ? as to why, when he's showing standout, difference making qualitys every challenge he faces. Is it something he’s not been doing in training? They work with him every day and are privvy to far more than we are. His attitude off the pitch? There’s something that just doesn’t quite add up here.

I personally sincerely hope he comes back pre-season and has made that big leap they require as his talent is immense. But it really makes you wonder if theres ever going to be a long term future here?

Really curious situation this one.

Topical for the summer transfer window:

If anyone's wondering just how L'pool turned their transfer dealings around to lead the way over the last couple of years, this is a superb piece from the NY Times that should be essential reading for all football fans interested in the way the games evolved as a whole far beyond the traditional methods-

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/22/magazine/soccer-data-liverpool.html

It just adds to another real informative piece that was in the Financial Times a few months back-

'Liverpool are the world leaders in football not only because of their results and quality on the pitch but also when it comes to data analytics. That's according to the report by Athletic Bilbao director of football and professor at the London School of Economics Ignacio Palacios-Huerta. The reports was published in the Financial Times.

Mr Palacios-Huerta has claimed Liverpool have a group of PhDs who are specialising in data analysis which helps the Reds acquire the best players. The professor insists our club are the world leaders in this area.

"There is clear leadership by one club: Liverpool. They have a group of four or five PhDs in maths and physics, and they know football," the report says.

While most of the report is dedicated to Barcelona and their approach to analytics, Liverpool are namechecked as the benchmark example'

We really are leading from the front in all aspects of the game right now.

I really don't think there is that much to it.  If you look at the players that Klopp wants, it's essentially a player with three things:

1) Ball handling skills

2) Pace

3) Heart/Work Ethic

The rest can be coached.

Another reason why I was shocked we never went for Ben Afra, lol.
