I haven't seen anything that says he sucks in the offense. I doubt the Shanahan's would've brought him in if they didn't think he could cut it.

I'm talking about Kyle Shanahan offense. That is why they brought him in, because he supposedly knows the offense. Thing about it is in the limited playing time he had last year, he sucked.

there is knowing the offense and there is sucking in the offense you are SUPPOSED to know...Gross-Man is #2

Of all our back up QBs, only one has posted over a 110 QB rating in multiple regular season games. When Colt, Beck, or Bartel throw 4 TDs and no INTs in a game, let me know.

It's humorous to me that people remember the handful of spectacularly awful games by Grossman, but totally forget the many more games where he performed better than any starter we have had in nearly a decade.

I dont really get it? Mcnabb says he wants to play at least 4 more seasons. Beck is 29. He is to old to groom at this point. Grossman has looked very good in camp so far. So I guess we are going to carry 3 QB's after all. I was hoping to carry 2 and an extra WR or LB.

mcnab is old, injury prone, and has one year left on his contract.

he's not exactly the ideal basket to be putting all your eggs in.

grossman will see playing time this year - mcnabb will get injured. it's a foregone conclusion. mcnabb doesn't play 16 games in a season.

shanahan wants to win now, bu the wants to set up a team his son can run and win with. we don't have our QB of the future yet - unless Kyle sees something in Grossman.

Well that was his first year in Kyle's offense last year. So he has spent an entire year in it. So Kyle brought along someone that was familar with it. He certainly wasn't going to bring along Schaub and Andre Johnson. I have no problem with Grossman. He has experience and playoff experience.

Says the man with a love affair for Ladell Betts that was so over the top it became a huge joke.

btw, where is Betts these days? Does he have a job?

I believe he is still in rehab. I would expect to see him signed by someone before the season begins.

99% of the herd thought like our owner, Vinny and Gibbs 2 did:

Get a star running back, and run everything through him. That will lead us to the SB.

Very few possess the intelligence to have seen that wasn't going to work, and that a RB by committee approach is much better.

It was never going to work. And still doesn't. Jones Drew, Chris Johnson and Frank Gore continue to prove that today.

Had we focused on a passing game, and had traded bloated RB contracts to build a well-balanced team, we would have Boldin on the roster right now.

That kind of intelligence is rare however. Extremely rare to be able to see it three years ago. Although Bruce and Shanahan certainly seem to get it. And we are much better off for it.

I can't believe people are happy with Grossman as our backup when guys like Bulger was on the market and Jeff Garcia is still out there. In 18 snaps last year Grossman turned the ball over twice. That is a average of 1 TO per 9 snaps and that was against the Jaguars. What will happen when he is called upon to play against a NFC East, AFC South, or NFC North opponent.

Toot your own horn much? Jeebus, man, this comes across as conceited as hell.

On ESPN Rumors 20 minutes ago:

ESPN AFC North blogger James Walker writes that the Baltimore Ravens are shipping reserve quarterback John Beck down the Beltway to the Washington Redskins, in exchange for cornerback Doug Dutch.

The move likely means that the Ravens will be holding onto current No. 3 QB Troy Smith, whose name has previously been associated with trade rumors. Smith is still clearly third in the pecking order behind starter Joe Flacco and veteran backup Marc Bulger, but now that his roster spot is more clearly secure it would appear that he'll be sticking around this year.

For the Redskins, it's a little less clear what this move signals. The team brought in free agent QB Rex Grossman this offseason to back up Donovan McNabb, so this could be an indicator that Rex isn't getting the job done. If the Skins still plan to keep Grossman, however, instead plugging in Beck as the developmental No. 3 QB, this could spell the end of Colt Brennan's time in Washington.

He called Portis a coward for not playing with a concussion, so yeah.

Back on topic now since a wackadoo derailed the thread with his usual agenda-toting antics, I like this move. We gave up an undrafted player who likely wasn't making the final 53. I have to agree w/ others that this could spell the end for Colt, and given McNabb and

Grossman's injury histories, I think a vet 3rd QB is a smart move.

*edit: damn, just saw post above mine. Good luck elsewhere Colt.

Could be, but I don't remember Zorn being a big fan of Colt.

I remember reading an article online when we drafted him stating that Zorn had flown out from Seattle to Hawaii to see him in college and have lunch with him. Im pretty sure Zorn had been courting Colt during college.

Makes sense.
