NFL: Marshal Faulk picks Skins to win NFC East (bump from 2010)

I agree. I look back to the 91 season (even though I was 5) and remember how the Redskins were the team to beat. We were predicted to win it all, and we did. No one even came close. That team could have even gone undefeated. Those days are long gone, but Im hoping that we can achieve something similar. If not, at least snag another Lombardi sometime soon

1991-92. Best season ever. Better than the 82 and 87 SB teams. You knew from opening night when we beat Detroit 45-0, that teams was something special. Even when Inside the NFL ignored us until we were 11-0, I just knew no one would be us. I was not the least bit nervous before the SB. I knew Buffalo had nothing. And it was on my 24th Birthday. What a present!!!:D

Contrary to popular belief, what happens the year prior in the NFL almost never has any bearing the next year. The Saints didn't even make the playoffs in 08 and won the Super Bowl last year. The Bengals went from, what 3-3 to division champs? Football is a dynamic game and things change so much year to year, you can't just say "har har har we were 4-12 last year we have no chance!!!". With an elite coach in Shanahan and a top 10 QB in McNabb, we'll have a chance in every game and that's all you can ask for.

This talk of playoffs is getting ridiculous. We finished as the 4th worst team in the NFL last year. 8-8 would be beyond my expectations for this year to be honest. It doesn't hurt to be realistic guys.

True that. Everyone thinks this team is going to be at least 10-6 every year. News flash people: We haven't been 10-6 since 2005, and we had to win our last 5 games to do it.

I too think the team will be 8-8 this year, but tied for second in the division with New York. Dallas will go only 11-5 to win the division. Philly will be 7-9.

The NFC East will beat itself up big time.

I always liked it better when the analysts picked the 'skins to do poorly - kept the team from getting a big head, and maybe gave them a chip on their shoulder. I'd rather our team get trashed in the media and actually respond by winning some games, rather than get hyped up by the media and respond by always falling short (like the Cowgirls and Chargers always seem to do).

Yeah that is all well in good and I generally felt the same way, however, the media has been doing that for about 10 years. We haven't proved them wrong yet.

Dallas will go only 11-5 to win the division. Philly will be 7-9.

The media always says Dallas will be juggernauts every year. When has that last happened? I don't see them getting any more than 10 wins, and that depends on how the rest of division does.

The critics and the league will raise their eyebrows if the Skins beat the Cowboys week one. Many believe Dallas is a Super Bowl contender, so what would that make the Redskins if they took them down on Sunday night football?

We wont win more than 6 games if Moss and Galloway are our starting WR's come week 1.

I disagree.

If Moss, Galloway, and Devin Thomas are our starting receivers...Then Cooley and Davis are catching passes too. They can spread the offense and DM can make the throws...I don't see how Santana has lost a step and will be more than ok with one on one coverage. If they double Moss, then Cooley and Davis will have plenty of yards to sustain drives and score TD's.

Believe in the coaching staff man! HAIL!!!

1- 0

They will start the season off and the new Skins off right. Past that, don't forget the 'Any Given Sunday' philosophy. Anybody can beat anybody on any given Sunday.

  • 1 year later...

I was about to start a new thread on this but I found this one.

Marshall Faulk picks the Redskins to win the NFC East again.

The whole time he was talking Michael Irvin was cutting him off trying to argue about it but this is what he said.

The OL and DL look like they are going to dominate and will easily be the best on the division. The DL is getting major pressure on their own which will make the LB's job that much easier.

Hightower is going to be unstoppable (or something like that) he compared him to Terrell Davis favorably and said the blocking is going to dominate just like in Denver. Said Grossman should be fine but he won't be the focal point of the offense.

Then Michael Irvin blurted in several times with crap like: Who are they gonna throw the ball to? Who are their receivers, they don't have anybody on that team.

Irvin's been in the Coke again. :D

2. He is, however, apparently a drug addict, and/or doesn't actually watch NFL games. Picking the team that didn't win a single division game last year to actually win the division . . . clueless!

Um, nope, we didn't win a single division game, we won 2 division games. The Redskins beat Dallas in Washington to open the season, and 3 weeks later beat the Eagles in Philly.
