YS: Redskins’ Haynesworth crossed the wrong guy

This is what the team needs. Snyder probably knows it's wise to back off and let the coach do his thing.

No kidding. Especially when players have gone above the Coach's heads in years past to get their way. They need to not only be told the buck stops with Shanny' date=' but [i']displayed[/i] that this is the case.

Haynesworth lost 40 pounds this summer. Is there a player on the team that worked harder than Haynesworth this summer???

Dude was a lardass farting in his couch cushions prior to that. I guaranteed 50-60% of that was water weight.

Well you can't please everybody. Many of the same people who criticized the organization in the past (and rightfully so) for lack of discipline, are the same people who are making Fat Al a sympathetic figure. How ironic.... The facts is that a year ago Fat Al signed the largest contract in the history of the NFL, for a defensive player. His contribution was 12 games of being out of shape and disgruntled, which obviously meant that he didn't earn the signing bonus he was alloted. Fast forward to 2010 and a new GM & new Coach, he chose to defy authority by not wanting to conform to the scheme or the program. In seven months time, there was three discussions (1 with D Cordinator Haslett in January), (1 with Shanahan on March 10th), (1 with the FO to sign his $21 mill contract). The organization made all the provisions to reach out to him, to explain the scheme, to have him work out for a portion of the offseason w/his teammates, to work out a trade if he felt he no longer wanted to be here....They catered alot on his behalf. And how does he repay them? Well by straight up lying to get that money. If Shanahan wants to truely set the tone of a new organization, he needs to make certain that all the players are treated the same. There will be real consequences for your actions....And IMHO, all of what Fat Al has done justifies the consequences of what he's going through now. And i really hope its not over. :)

Please stop with this 'you're supporting haynesworth' nonsense.

you can not agree with Shanahan's approach, but still think Haynseworth is being a big baby about all of this.

this situation isn't black and white. try to think about it a little bit more.

That's where you're looking at it from the wrong perspective. This isn't black or white, his way or my way. This is Shanny coming to a team with a reputation for letting players go above the Coach's heads and saying "There's no your, it's my way and this isn't a democracy."

He took the biggest example (Portis at least said he got the message pretty quickly) and is taking him down a notch or two. The entire team sees it and Shanny has demonstrated that it all starts and stops with him. The team needed it.

I just don't understand how he is teaching Haynesworth a lesson. Haynesworth is out here getting paid regardless. The only players that sit on the bench and it left to rot are the players looking for new contracts. Haynesworth already got the big contract so I don't understand all this "bench him and let him rot" talk.

Maybe it doesn't teach him a lesson. But do you understand what it might do to the team if he was just allowed to waltz on to the practice field? There were already harsh sentiments from his teammates prior to camp. Imagine how they would feel during camp. If anything this is to let the rest of the team know that every single player is accountable.

PLEASE.........Some people just don't get it. It is NOT about Al losing the 30-40 lbs. (which BTW...I believe he did to try to get out of playing NT, as good NTs in the league are 330-360 lbs.) It's about the fact the lazy retard decided not to show up for any off-season work!

Coach is making a spectacle of him, breaking his ego down and seeing if he'll accept a "team first" attitude. If not, he'll keep running! Kudos Coach!

Keep it up....we love it!

Bro., he defied the coach. It doesn't matter if he lost 60 pounds. Point being is that he took the bonus and disrespected the entire organization in the process (from the owner, to the HC, to the Def. Co, to his teammates). This is the sort of thing that marked this franchise since Snyder took over. Now that we have a competant FO & Coach, this is now a day where everyone will be held accountable. Too bad for Fat Al that he didn't have enough sense to not put himself in this position. Somebody needs to made an example of....If he doesn't like it, he shouldn't have acted the fool. ;)

LOL this is such a joke, Shannahan won when Albert swalloed his pride and rejoined the team, now all he is doing is showing that he is an egotistic vindictive napoleon. if he runs AH iff then im sure some of the stupids will be very happy, until they recall that our Dline without AH is a joke.

:ols: where have you been? We missed you.

Sorry but you very clearly don't know what you're talking about and know nothing of leadership. Haynesworth took a $21 mill check, said F U to the coach by blowing off the entire offseason, and MS is supposed to just let him waltz into training camp like nothing happened? What does that say to the rest of the team? You wouldn't have one player show up to minicamps if MS just let Haynesworth slide with no punishment. I can guarantee you that the leaders of this team are 100% behind the coach here.

Part of me really likes the drill sergeant image.

"That's right, Private Pyle. Don't make any effort to get over the obstacle. If God wanted you over the obstacle He would have miracled your ***".

The impression I get is that drill sergeants are taught, in drill sergeant school, that the best way for one DI to dominate 30 recruits is to pick one recruit, and pick on him unmercifully. And the rest of the recruits will obey, because they don't want to volunteer to take That Guy's place.

Well, this year, Albert volunteered to be "That Guy".

----------

OTOH, I have to observe that "You won't make the team until you grovel and humiliate yourself" doesn't work well, if the player doesn't want to make the team.

Hard to threaten the guy when the worst thing you can threaten him with is "Mess with me, and I'll make you a Free Agent!"

Mike Williams....it's too bad he has physical heart issues because you know he put it all out there, and his 'heart' was in the right place. Fat Al has the ability to still be out there, but his heart is in the wrong place.

Now everyone on the team knows what the deal is....they know Shanahan is serious, and it doesnt matter who you are...he will treat everyone the same.

He is not treating everyone the same, he is making an example of someone who tried to make him look bad

He's from Canada, obviously they don't get news up there :silly:
