TC024
I can't believe people are on here being sympathetic to Haynesworth.. Seriously, what did you think Shanny was going to do? Baby him? His excuse for missing camp this year was that last years training regimen didnt get him in good enough shape, so he would do it on his own. Bottom line is the guy signed a 100m contract, and recently cashed a 21m check, he cashed it after being told the ground rules of playing NT beforehand then cried about it and asked to be traded. He can do what is asked of him or he can GTFO. Was this Shanny being a tough ***, yes it was.. was it warranted, yes it was. How about those military runs when if you have guys drop out of formation your troop is punished etc? I have friends who have literally **** themselves on those runs to stay apart of the team and not let anyone down and they did it for 1/100000th the amount that Haynesworth is being paid. (Thanks to our troops for their great sacrifices by the way) This is about a mindset of leaving everything on the field, that's what Shanny has brought to this team, its a mindset. A team first, leave it all on the field for your brothers mindset, if your upset with that then you need your head examined. As the saying goes "**** or get off the pot." In this case, literally. Well said!
SkinsCrushCowboys
All of you Haynesworth apologists kill me....now we are supposed to just let princess come back and try and run the show his way. No freaking chance, I guess some folks long for the Zorn days when Z would have been washing Fat Alberts Rolls while he was walking through his drills. The test was not fair....boo hoo and good. This is Shanny's house, not Al's. I hope he makes him run 5 sprints tomorrow. I did not hear any players complaining about the outcome, I am sure they appreciate coach having a pair and not bending over for Al. If he knows what is good for him he shuts up, takes some Pepto Bismol tonight, gets some rest and busts his ass tomorrow. It looks like (from the reports) he has lost weight and is in better shape, great to hear. That is only the first step. Now he takes his medicine and starts to earn some respect from the coaches. I hope for the best, but I can see a "pulled" hammy in tomorrows attempt and the rest of the day in the rolls with the ac on, hope I am wrong. veteranskinsfan
I hope Shanahan stays on Albert all training camp. They may have also set up the test so that they can document legally any future attempt to get back some of that money from him in case during the season he just flames out completely by falling down on the sidelines like he did last year and then had an excuse to not go back into the game. Everything the Coach will be doing with Albert will have a reason behind it. Keep it up Coach. Albert needs to learn he is not as important as he thought he was. The Coach is in charge of this football team. Either play by the rules or you will sit in the dog house all season on the Bench.
illone
This is awesome if true. Thank you, Shanny, for treating this guy like an outsider despite the $21M he was paid. This is great. In years past Al would have been given a free pass. Not anymore. :applause:
zCommander
If that's not a man who doesn't want to be somewhere, I don't know who is. That expression on his face at the end of that video reminds of: Wanna' get away?!?!
Playsmart30
I'm hoping this isn't turning into a contest of who's dick is bigger. If so, I'd have to question Shanahan on that one. I'd rather the Redskins keep the high ground. Really all i wanna know if all o lineman and d lineman have to do that same drill
jnhay
First look in the mirror.Anyone with eyes can tell this was a petty move by the Coach/GM to prove a point. If Shanny and company for example are releasing Mike Williams and if according to 106.7 and Comcast's Kelly Johnson and Mike Williams did not know he was being released before the twitter report, that is a classless FO move. Apparently he's being released AND put on the reserve list? Sounds contradictory to me, but I don't know how this stuff works.
KDawg
Bravo to Coach Shanahan. Establish dominance and once Albert complies bring him in and have a heart to heart with him and let him know that he has paid his dues and all will be forgotten. This is a great piece of coaching in my opinion. PS: Mike Williams wasn't released. He was put on the Inactive list.

IF all lineman o and d did it i agree with coach
bulldog
The Redskins have nothing to lose here. Haynesworth has made things as difficult as possible on the front office and coaching staff not to mention his teammates. His participation in one day of practice is really irrelevant to the larger issues. Shanahan and Co. need to know that this guy is not going to turn tail and run away at the first sign of adversity during the season as he did last year. SkinsCrushCowboys
Really all i wanna know if all o lineman and d lineman have to do that same drill from Shanny's presser today... On if he would classify the conditioning test as tough for someone Albert Haynesworth’s size: “Well, I can say this, all of our other linemen passed the test.”

When the other linemen did it, if it was the same test with the same time limits and the same break period, or how many guys had to do it more than once before they passed. Just saying that this is the same as anything coming out of Redskins Park these days; we will likely never know the full story of what went on, how it unfolded, etc.
frankez99
So Albert had to run to the bathroom to take a big Haynesworth? Shanny is in charge now.....get with the program.
KDawg
And who cares if it isn't the same, mistertim? Albert has earned every bit of this and once its over he should be treated as part of the team with no ill feelings. But its not over quite yet. Earn your spot. Just saying that this is the same as anything coming out of Redskins Park these days; we will likely never know the full story of what went on, how it unfolded, etc. had he been with his team mates he would have had the opportunity to take the same test under the exact same circumstances....he chose not to...now he deals with that choice. But its not over quite yet. Earn your spot. Well, I also found it odd that Shanny completely contradicted himself, it seems. On reports that the players who attended the offseason program did not have to take that conditioning test:"That's exactly right, and that's part of being in the offseason program. You don't have to take the test. There's a certain percentage of workouts that you've got to be here, and if you're in that percentage, you don't have to go through the conditioning test because we knew you're in good shape. You had done this test in a lot of different running drills along the way." But then soon after that: On if he would classify the conditioning test as tough for someone Albert Haynesworth's size:"Well, I can say this: All of our other linemen passed the test." Huh? Which one is it? First he said that the guys who had been here didn't have to take that test. Then he goes on to say that all of the other linemen passed the test. KDawg
Again, who cares? Although what I took from that was that the other guys did it in OTAs so they didn't have to take the test now. And yes, it was probably more lax in the OTAs. But again, who cares? Albert deserves this and when its over and he passes the whole situation needs to be over for the betterment of the team. First he said that the guys who had been here didn't have to take that test. Then he goes on to say that all of the other linemen passed the test. Not really. It is a standardized test approved by the NFLPA for his position and he failed. I do not think AH has earned special treatment and should get a free pass. Ashburn Dave
It was a test designed for him to fail, thats why we keep saying it. If you cant see that then you are just blind. I am NOT for giving this fat sack of **** a free pass at all. But he could have came into camp and ran these sprints in record time and Shanny would have still failed him. But I applaud Shanny for putting Fat Ass in his place. Good show, let the drama continue. From what they were saying on the afternoon radio shows was that all the players knew what the test was. They enforced it on AH because he wasn't around for the volunteer stuff. Since he wasn't around they needed to test him to see if he was ready for practice. Regardless, Shanny is in charge, not AH. Enough of these divas trying to run the show.
skins island connection
Fat Albert needs to be broken. And that's what Shanny is doing. No one is above the team. I totally agree. I can see Shanny tightening the rope around AH, its probably the only way he will get the message that he doesn't dictate what and when he will do things, or he will pay for it. The good part about it is, it's a mental game being played on AH, and yes he will be put through the ringer, and rightfully so, but once AH breaks, its like taming a horse, and Shanny will have {hopefully} the alpha-beast in the league, totally unstoppable. I could be wrong, he could have the entire team throw donuts at him as well...
HailToTheRedskins14
While so much of what you say is true, let me ask you one Question? How do you get anything out of that huge initial investment? Do you suck it up as a loss? If so then release the man and take the financial hit. Admit that it wasn't a good move then move on. That however hasn't happened for whatever reason. So now what is happening.? They have minimal trade value for the man after his apparent failure to complete his conditioning workout today. You have most of the team, players, front office, expressing no confidence in the man so where is the leverage? You either play the man and not release him while trying to give him some type of support. Or tuck tail to the fact that whole situation was handled horribly from signing till now. You COACH. That's how you get your investment's worth. I can't believe people are getting so distressed over this, either way. Haslett is the 'good guy' to AH while Shanahan is the bad guy. Obvious coaching tactic in action.
