demarc007
Shanny is giving Haynesworth a big F U. This is what real head coaches do. They don't B.S. around when they are trying to collect hardware. He's letting Fat Boy know who's running this show. So what if it's unfair to Haynescrap, he should have had his butt here in the offseason showing his commitment to win just like the rest of the guys. Anyone questioning Shanny on this one needs to grow a pair.
Est.1974
Shanahan then decided that he had too much rest between the two attempts, due to a bathroom break. And that's all that matters. What he says goes. Haynesworth has probably received more $$$ than any other NFL player this offseason. Deal with it Al.

mel25
(It's unknown whether Shanahan then said, "Boom. Roasted.") lol this part had me rollin. either shanahan or somebody else shoulda said "ooohhhh."
brianm23
I'm all for not giving him a free pass, but this here sounds like a bit of animosity spilling over. Don't flame the fire when it's starting to die out... Prove your point but don't be petty. This is ****ing bull**** and the reason why so many of the fans suck. YOU ***** and complain about lack of discipline and how rules aren't followed by all. When you get a person like Shanny. YOU ***** and complain even more. It's simple: He had X amount of time in between the shuttles. As always, Haynesworth took MORE time than what was allotted, and Shanny penalized for it. You want to fault somebody. ****ing fault Albert god damnit. Point the blame where it's always been.
cactitle
If this is true. Then Shanahan is being an *******. I'm sorry. Dude completed what was asked of him. I hope this is BS. Totally agree with you on this. After recent reports of how fences were being mended through the conversation with Haslet and the like if Shanny is putting a different standard on AH because of the past situation then i think it is pathetic. I don't feel for Ah because he should bust his butt for the money he is making but then again the Coaches shouldn't compound the situation by making this more of a circus. Let sleeping dogs lie and get on with the season.
clskinsfan
Look. I'm all for coaching and discipline. But if this is true its a bit over the top. You can send a message without the smart ass comments. If you piss him off to much then he just decides to pull a hammy. Which cant be detected on an MRI or anything else. Fat Al would still be entitled to his money and would not have to play a down. The fat **** has talent. I would like to see him use it for us this year. ATLredskin
Thing about it is Haynesworth said he couldn't do that even his Pro Bowl year so you know the drill was rigged. If you are going to defend Shanahan at least defend the right thing.

From the pictures he looks like he is in shape to me. If he complains about scheme thats one thing but damn its visibly obvious the guy worked his ass off. He is an incredible talent when motivated and we may have the staff to keep him motivated. I think this is going to work out just fine!

If you are going to defend Shanahan at least defend the right thing. Hey! Guess what? If fat ass didn't so long, he would have passed. Why didn't he just wait there until he had finished? Who's to say his fat ass didn't just go in the bathroom and sit there till he got his wind back? Did you verify the poop? Smell it? It was plain and simple. Your run twelve 50 yard sprints and take a X amount of rest, then run it again. He didn't conform to that so the ax come down. He only had to run 2, but once he decided to take extra time over that was allotted, he had to start the first one over again. Sounds pretty fair to me. Oh wait, we should give him more special treatment because he's AH? You know, like giving him the day off on Christmas like he doesn't want to practice? Give me a ****ing break. Maybe the IRS should all give us a break if we are 12 hours late on our taxes. Nope. We all have rules and guidelines to follow, and consequences if we don't follow them. AH is no different. Oh no, don't you dare upset poor Albert, he may get pissed and fake an injury! Are you kidding me?! Good, let him. Let him sit on the bench if he can't take it. He'll lose all respect (if he even has any left). I LOVE seeing some discipline here.
LaRonDontLikeUgly
It's hilarious to see the pansies up here defending AH. Guys, a coach with discipline has arrived in DC. If you don't like it, I suggest pulling for coaches like likes of Wade Phillips. DING! DING! DING! This is awesome. Haynesworth took a shot at Shanahan's pride, and coach returned the favor. THAT is how you gain respect from your players. Shanahan will have Haynesworth IN THE POCKET by mid-season with a little positive reinforcement. Being a great NFL coach means that you know how to win the mind-games... Shanny is proving that he knows what he is doing and all you sheep who think he's being a bully probably never played ball. (Or else you sat on the bench because coach thought you were soft.)

If you don't like it, I suggest pulling for coaches like likes of Wade Phillips. And to add, a lot of the time players like Haynesworth respond positively to things like this. Deep down he (Al) knows he needs a motivator, and someone who won't put up with his crap. When he finds that person, instead of resenting them, he respects them. The nice guy coach gets walked on in this case. The hardass gets respected.

Ryman of the North
The 1940s style of coaching isnt going to win any superbowls, coaching noawadays requires more intelligent handling of players. I said all along that Shannahan thinks he is untouchable and that his ego is affecting the team, the first clue was his handling of the defence switch, at first he said and I quote" the top teams all play a 3-4 so we will run a 3-4 too" when the majority of savvy football people questioned that he changed to " a hybrid system" to appease everyone. the AH situation is funny to an outsider, people who are jealous of the money Albert got are all screaming stupid inane things like " trade him for a 5th rounder" or " cut him" and so Shannahan pretty much thinks he gets a pass to act like a diuckhead. Albert already swallowed his pride and came in in good shape, Shannhan should just shut his yap and let things slowly smooth over, actling like a martinet isnt gonna do anything but alienate AH and hurt the team. The guy lost 40 pounds this summer so i'm going to boldly say he did more work this summer than anyone else on the team. Am I wrong? Fat Albert took himself out of every game last season because he was tired and then didn't show up for minicamp. Most of his teammates clearly don't think much of the guy. Shanahan is trying to change the culture here. No one is above the team -- no matter how much money they make. I'm sure they'll be some bumps along the way -- Shananan isn't infallible -- but it's a refreshing change.
