WP: Albert Haynesworth fails to complete second part of conditioning test

I'm not shedding a tear for Fat Albert. After all, this joker made more in his signing bonus last year than my entire family will over the next 30 years.

Shanny should have brought in some USMC drill sergeants to 'smoke' him.

yeah...sorry, i'm late to the party. just read that.

so...definitely a pissing contest, lol. serves him right though. somehow i wouldn't be surprised if some of the players voiced their opinions on how this hazing....errr...conditioning test should play out.

it'll be over & done with tomorrow imho.

this isnt really that big of a deal as long as haynesworth doesnt make it one.

of course, shanny is going to give him some "hazing" due to all the bs this season. being able to run a few 300 yard sprints is not easy for a man of his size, even a professional player.

this should motivate haynesworth though. it was very obvious to anyone watching last year that haynesworth seemed to run out of gas many times throughout the season. with this act, shanny has effectively told haynesworth that he is in charge, no more BS, and that last year's carting off the field will not be acceptable this year.

wow, a lot of people on here are getting ridiculously bent out of shape over this, take a chill pill people. Big Al passed the first two tests, in other words he did pass the conditioning test. However, due to the bathroom break inbetween, Shanny, who ran the test himself, said Al took too long between sets (only supposed to be 5 minutes rest, wow), and made him run a 3rd, which he failed.

Shanny was making a point and purposely set Al up to fail that test. I don't have a problem with that, I feel he deserves it for pulling the $21 mill. stunt.

Sounds like a pissing contest between the two...

Here's the link to go along with that quote:

As said before, it sounds like Shanahan was just trying to find a reason to fail him to prove a point. I would be surprised if he didn't practice tomorrow.

Just to put this in perspective, each test is much less than one lap around the ol' high school track. 300 yard shuttles are not *that* hard. We used them in Cross Country for our speed workouts, and we did three sets 5 minutes apart. I was in high school. They sucked, but they were doable.

If he cheated the clock on the 5 minute rest, asking him to do a third isn't totally unreasonable at all. A professional football player should be able to do this, regardless of what position they are in.

I was thinking the same thing. Clear shot across the bow that Shannahan is in-charge and no nonsense will be tolerated, bathroom break or otherwise.

Albert Haynesworth-DL- Redskins Jul. 29 - 2:56 pm et

According to the Washington Post, Albert Haynesworth "apparently" needed a bathroom break during the second portion of his conditioning test Thursday, explaining his failure to finish.

The test consisted of two grueling 300-yard shuttle runs. He aced the first, but walked through the second, in apparent need of a bowel movement. Haynesworth will not be allowed to practice until he completes both runs. By all accounts, he's in good shape, so he should be fine on Friday's retake.

big difference between one lap and 6 50 yard sprints, as far as the strain it puts on

also, big difference between skinny cross country kids and a 300 lb. NFL player

you think an offensive lineman can pass that test when there are 3 sets?

kids who run long distances every day are more naturally inclined to do well in running and sprinting events than a 300 lb DL who plays in the trenches and only goes a couple yards forward each play.

I saw this thread coming so I tried and jump on the board asap but already at 66 replies. I hope that this serves as a wake up call to him...maybe if he took part in the mini camps he wouldnt be in this position. Thats my opinion at least.

Lmao, not many cross country athletes are 330, and I would venture that several redskins wouldnt pass the third race.

Shannahan is being an idiot trying to lodr it over AH, the truth is that we need him as much as he needs us and if Shannahan sabotages his return then the failures associated with that fall directly on him.

I noticed that and also thought it was common sense. when I was 300 pounds I ran track but only the short distance events, and I can guarentee that no cross country athlete was benching what I was benching, the two sports are completely different.

If I ever have to run more than 20 yards on a play it means someone somewhere screwed up.

That must have been one HELLUVA dump! A man his size would have to **** a Volkswagen to wear him out THAT much...

Damn, now I have that image in my head of a beetle squeezing out his butt-crack...

{Haynesworth comes back from the office area onto the practice field, looking more relieved}

Shanahan: You find the bathroom ok? I know it's been a while since you been here.

Haynesworth: Uhhh...yeah....

{Meanwhile, at about this time, Redskins video intern Scotty Gunderson finds something in the film room garbage can that will haunt him for the rest of his days}
