Albert Haynesworth performed well Thursday on the first part of his conditioning test but failed to complete the two-part process and did not pass, according to people familiar with the situation.

Haynesworth did so well in the first phase that one team source said he "killed it." But Haynesworth apparently needed a lavatory break midway through the second part and was unable to complete the test after returning and starting from the beginning.

On Wednesday, Coach Mike Shanahan said Haynesworth would not be permitted to participate in training camp practices until he passed the test. The Redskins are scheduled to take the field for the first practice of camp in about two hours at Redskins Park. Shanahan plans to address the situation after practice, but Haynesworth is not expected to comment until he passes the test.

So now what?

Well, Haynesworth, who skipped all but one day of Shanahan's first offseason program, must work with the training staff until he is able to complete the test. Several players said Haynesworth clearly is in much better shape than he was at this time last season.

2 300yard shuttles is what I'm hearing....

for a man of his size, he was gonna fail regardless....shoot, I know people who are in shape that would fail that.

I hope people don't look into this any more than they should. AH will be a starter in Week 1. Shanahan & Co. are setting these tests up for Haynesworth to fail. Out to prove a point. Just look at the difference in the conditioning test Haynesworth is taking and the one that Terrence Cody repeatedly failed...it's like night and day.

I wonder if he quit. Without know what the second part of the test was, all of the story that we get is he breezed through the first part, went part way through the second part (of 2) but stopped to take a leak. Then he didn't do the second part well enough to pass.

Just honest question from one who wasn't there: Was he trying to pass or was he trying to find a way around participation.

yeah, I can't go 10 min with out needing to take pee break either...:(

I'm sorry, but sarcasm is hard to avoid here. I understand that's not an easy set of sprints, but just say he couldn't do it. To say he had to stop for a potty break mid way just seems so pre k. It's not a run half way through the sprint exercise, take a break mid way and expect to start over in the middle.

No reason that they should make a test like that for him. He will never have to do that in a game. This isn't a big deal. Funny thing though is that sportscenter will probably talk for twenty minutes about why it isn't a big deal. This is going to get way more press attention than it should.
