JimmiJo
http://web.skinscast.com/subcast/2010/07/28/as-camp-begins-haynesworth-is-the-story/ As camp begins, Haynesworth is the story By John Pappas Skinscast.com Editor Albert Haynesworth reported to Redskins Park this morning, spoke to head coach Mike Shanahan and defensive coordinator Jim Haslett, and then left. He is expected back tomorrow for the start of training camp. Presumably he is here to participate in camp and play for the Redskins, though the best Shanahan would muster when asked directly whether Haynesworth would be here this season was; “We’ll see.” And so continues the Albert Haynesworth saga in Washington, and the contest of wills between Haynesworth and Shanahan. Haynesworth has been the story here since he decided he would not participate in any of the voluntary offseason activities. It got worse when he skipped the June mandatory mini camp and Shanahan revealed the team had earlier given Haynesworth an opportunity to be released to another team if he could find one who wanted to sign him (but that if he then accepted the $21 million roster bonus in April he would be fully committed to the team). Next, his teammates voiced their displeasure. London Fletcher and Phillip Daniels in particular criticized the decision to stay away, with even-tempered Fletcher unusually critical of Haynesworth’s absence. Hitman21ST
But both Shanahan and Haslett said that the defense could be tailored to suit Haynesworth. Haslett especially has said that Haynesworth will have many opportunities to make plays in the new defense. Some have questioned Haynesworth’s rationale. Sounds like they both expect Haynesworth to have earned his spot back by the end of TC, if not sooner. On the other hand, do you really want to tailor a 3-4 to suit one of the linemen? Aren't the linebackers supposed to be the heart of the 3-4 and the focus be put on them and their abilities and molding the defense to fit them? 1972FAN
He's going to report tomorrow and rock & roll, do what he's told. I think it's going to be a disappointing story for the news that was looking for anything negative or disruptive.

If you're smart and worth your paycheck as a DC, and you have two elite players in AH and Rak, you tailor it around them BOTH, honestly. And I think that's what's happening. It just took Haynesworth 3 months to bother to actually talk to a coach about the playbook
Hitman21ST
and you have two elite players in AH and Rak, you tailor it around them BOTH Which, with as good as they are, could just simply be to say "go wild you guys"

Hitman21ST
True. Pressure, pressure, pressure, guys. Get at 'em! Just thinking about it makes me smile...Our front three occupies their front five, leaving Rak, Rocky, Fletch, and Carter to wreak havoc. Offenses will have to keep in TEs and RBs to give the QB time (looking at you Jason Witten, Owen Daniels, and Dallas Clark) and we still have the advantage... And its going to be necessary for us, seeing as none of our LB's are known for their coverage skills. We can't afford to give QB's time:ols: Luckily, this defense will be designed to hide that and work to their strengths.
Tom [Giants fan]
Why does he have to pass a test to see if he is in shape? I thought he lost weight and looked good? I can't imagine that went over well with him when they told Haynesworth about it. Redskins | Albert Haynesworth to undergo conditioning test Wed, 28 Jul 2010 13:39:46 -0400 The Washington Redskins will put DT Albert Haynesworth through a conditioning test Thursday, July 29, sources told Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com. He will be able to practice at the start of training camp if he is able to pass the test, but will be held out if he is not able to pass the test. Tom [Giants fan]
That doesn't have anything to do with cardio... No but you would have to assume he did some kind of exercising to lose the weight he did. My question is, why is he the only one? Because he didn't show up during offseason workouts? Shanahan and Co. oversaw everyone else's cardio and regular workouts, they know that they're ready to go. He just wants to make sure Haynesworth can keep up with everyone else, because they'll probably be going as hard as, if not harder than, everyone else in the NFL. Dukes and Skins
I really can't wait for this season to start and hopefully see Haynesworth in the 3-4 causing havoc on the opposing teams. With Him Orakpo and a secondary that should be better in the new scheme we just might have that D we have all been wanting

The team has an intimate understanding of the conditioning and health of literally everyone else on the team, because they participated. He skipped out, and they have no idea, despite the weight loss. One of the things he was fined for skipping was actually a physical, so he's getting it done now instead. And as others have said the ones who have been here probably weren't given much of a physical because they had been here working on the program and they should be ready to go at the start of TC unlike him who yeah it's great he's lost weight and all but we don't know the physical condition he's in other than down weight

Ashburn Dave
So glad that training camp is here so that AH won't be the story anymore. He's here, he's going to play, time to move on. Too many other positive things for us to talk about.

And you would have to think with Haynesworth they want it to be a big deal but they won't make it as much a big deal for someone like a Golston(not saying he isn't in shape)
