Chris Russell Twitter: Status of Haynesworth, Westbrook

His trainer said he was at 360 when he started losing the weight.

Yeah I'd put AH closer to 320-330lb range at this point. AH didnt start working out til April so from January-April he put on a few pounds so that is why I would guess he is closer to the 330lb range.

Haynesworth was listed as being 350 lbs last year and has reportedly lost 40 lbs.

That leaves him at 6'6 310 lbs. Oh my :shhh:

Those are the exact dimensions of another 3-4 DE named Richard Seymour

He was apparently up around 360 when he started losing weight. My guess is he'll end up being in the 320-330 range which is probably the ideal playing weight for him.

So... you mean this whole thing may have been overblown???? No way!

Not sure how you derive that; AH's request for a trade was public. It's not over blown it's a fact.

What this tells me if the FO held their ground and Albert realizes his "holdout" isn't going anywhere.

Can you find me a DE playing in the NFL for anyone who weighs 350? Most 3-4 DEs are closer to 300. If you meant NT you might be closer but even then most are lighter than 350.

But as I stated earlier, in the scheme that the Ravens use, Ngata is essentially another NT next to Gregg.

ESPN 980 just had Chris Russell on whos source speculates weight loss 40 to even 50lbs. If he is motivated this will be ridiculous for us. Gives me chills!!!

50 pounds?! Now I definitely feel he is making sure he doesnt play NT!

It was just as I suspected, compare our early morning speculation to the information rolling out about the meeting between Shanahan and Haynesworth from the Washington Post Articles (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/albert-haynesworth/haynesworth-meets-with-shanaha.html#more):

It's an easy conversation:

AH: Coach I'm here and ready to play. As you can see, I spent the offseason working hard with my trainer. I still don't want to play the NT position, but I'm committed to helping the team win. A lot has been said about how I feel. I told you when I first met you, how I feel. As for that mini-camp last month, I was expressing my displeasure with what I was promised a year ago.

MS: You abandoned your teammates. You're gonna have to convince them. You missed a lot of time and now we have to work extra to bring you up to speed. You're gonna play NT and every position along the line that Jim asks you to because you accepted the check on 4/1. That's behind us, now get your behind on the line and show me you want to be here.

WP- In addition to meeting with Coach Mike Shanahan on Wednesday at Redskins Park, Pro Bowl defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth also had a private session with defensive coordinator Jim Haslett, with whom he has been in contact for weeks, according to several people familiar with the situation.

All this AH talk about being disgruntled, hasn't come from his lips. I heard the one live interview he did with Sirius Radio the day after talking to MS. He said he wasn't happy with the switch, said he prefered the DE in a 3-4 if he had to play a position in the scheme and said he would play wherever they asked him to play without distraction.

On another note, the teams frustration is largely because AH doesn't know what this scheme is. I was going to make a post last week about an interview on Sirius with the NFL Godfather of the 3-4. ......He said he's had some conversation with Haslett, but none recently and none directly related to Albert, but he said he knows Jim well enough to know that he will make this defense the AH defense if Albert would just show up. He said he's studied AH's strengths and compared them to Jim's philosophy and he sees Jim using albert in a role that makes him unstoppable by the offensive line because he'll move Albert all over the line........He said, he predicted AH would love Jim once he actually put his hand in the dirt for Jim and said that's why he's so ticked-off about the whole situation.

WP- Haynesworth told Haslett he would do what was asked of him, the sources said.
Take Bollough's comments and re-read all the comments from teammates over the offseason. It sounds like Bollough was dropping a nugget. Expect to see AH all over. Shanahan was most pointed when he said that he expects AH to play whatever position they ask him. Now take the angry spin off it and maybe they are indicating that this defense will feature him, not torture him!

Bollough was dropping us a nugget indeed folks!

WP- After speaking with Haslett, Haynesworth confided in teammates he believes he could be productive in Haslett's scheme and he was ready to get started.

Welcome to training camp folks - Separating Fact from Fiction. Fact is, all these insiders are is blackberry yeilding slubs with little more insight into what's really going on than an average fan. The difference is they have a few friends who are players willing to talk to them on-the-low wich the refer to as "sources close to the situation."

If Bollough is correct AH will be all over the place in this scheme and it might actually feature him!

Sounds like Big Al will be our version of Haloti Ngata.

Ngata acts as a 2nd NT in the Ravens 3-4. He eats space and opens holes for Suggs and Lewis.

Haynesworth will be playing the 5 technique (3-4 DE) but operating as a 1 gap DL, meaning that he will be rushing the passer, not eating up blockers on purpose (but he is guaranteed to be doubled).

That's kind of a fair cop although he is the exception that proves the rule in that he is not really a DE. He was a DT in College and as you say in the Ravens 34 look he is playing more in a nose tackle role than a DE. I would argue the Ravens don't really run a 3-4 as such, it's more a 4-3 but with Suggs playing as a stand up DE.

They run a hybrid of both as their base defense. They sub in packages and when they do the lines between 3-4 and 4-3 begin to blur. Ngata is in no way a speed rusher but in their base 4-3 package he can play1 gap DT.

If we could get back to Westbrook; if he were to sign with us (or St. Louis, seemingly the only other option), when would you guys expect him to do so?

Training camp is tomorrow and Coach Mike said that the door was still open. I'm assuming that means that the contract offer is still there.

If he doesn't sign tomorrow, would we pull it or would we let him come during/after camp?

St Louis isn't an option for him.

Very interesting.

I believe you over rotoworld (where I heard St.L was still in), given your credibility/track record, but I must say, it's mighty odd for you to be so concise!

Well I guess that leaves Brian one mighty fine option :helmet:

I thought the Vike's was one of the other teams that he may land on.

It comes down to him needing to play for a team with a natural grass surface after playing all those years on the painted green concrete that was the "turf" of the Vet.

Rams and Vikes both have faux grass.
