The "conflict" between the TP and the NAACP is about as silly as it gets...two irrelevant organizations arguing over foolishness. I think I saw it best outlined by Larry Bradley...

Now go back and read the quotes from the Tea Party posting with the letter to Lincoln. Note its portrayal of anyone other than Tea Party members as inept, helpless people unable to be responsible for themselves. Their portrayal applies to anyone regardless of race, religion or other characteristics.

The Tea Party posting offers a prime example of an enemy centered organization. Find out more about enemy centeredness in the next paragraph. Ask yourself why an organization supposedly dedicated to topics such as “the three simple principles of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government and free market capitalism” seems focused instead on negative stereotyping of their opponents. Shouldn’t their principles be sufficient in and of themselves to persuade voters to join them? Or are their philosophies so weak the movement cannot win without stereotyping? Then ask yourself if you want candidates advocated by such an organization elected to represent you. (My emphasis added-Y06)

I'd beg to differ. Blacks have no more or less power to sway the media than anyone else. As you alluded to earlier, the media is concerned with one thing-increasing ratings. Nowadays, I just don't see the marches for this, that, or the other complaint getting much more than a yawn from viewers in most cases.

The failure to change tactics and target audiences from marching about things is the primary reason the NAACP and other civil rights organizations have largely become afterthoughts, to Blacks as well as everyone else.

Oh I don't know, maybe we as a white people could face up to the fact that white jesus really didn't exist. Jesus was colored. Or maybe as white people we could talk about how because of the ozone our fair skin is going to cook and how to take care of it better. Or maybe as a white race we could all talk about why we continue to pay blacks and women less then we pay white me and how to change that. Or maybe as a race we could talk about other things, we have race issues to talk about. But talking about them is covered up and treated as evil. Until whites have a place to be proud of themselves and deal with race issues publically without the media labeling us as racists we will never get over racial issues

About this, we're mostly in agreement. Interestingly, in the above statement you just identified the "NAAWP" you asked about earlier. Obviously there is no such formal group, but the continued existence of the issues you raised above shows that the effect exists.

Contrary to what you wrote above, the tone of your prior posts was much more in the vein of "poor downtrodden White people" & "the government is giving advantages to Blacks" that I see way too often. That line of thinking is no different than the victimization schtick espoused by Sharpton and the like. Moreover, it's completely at odds with the personal responsibility philosophy you espoused in another post.

Yeah, whether racial elements exist in the tea party or not, I think that is giving the tea party a pass to be merely talking about the racial issues.

Instead, they should be beatdown for their hypocrisy on the entire "it's about the deficit/spending" stance that seemed to suddenly arise once Obama came into office. Or how they aren't preaching anything that every other republican claims to be for and for the most part are out there with the mere goal to get republicans back into office. They should be pressed harder to find out if the conservative organizations backing the movement are just there using these people to get the GOP back into power, and once that happens, will the tea party just magically go away regardless of the GOP spending wild like they did for the six years they were in charge of anything. Also the entire tone of "We want our country back" which begs the question, "back from what" cause Obama isn't really doing anything that 30 years of economic precident hasn't already set into motion.

I understand the need to talk about race and racial elements, but to me that is small-time when it comes to the overall issues with the tea party, that are basically being ignored and uncovered by the entire media because everyone is stuck on NAACP vs. Tea Party.

I remember two guys at Norfolk Naval Base taking advantage of being white to get into Norfolk State (shuttle bus down Granby) and the shipyard at Newport News to go to Virginia State.

Heck liberals were mad that the largest education bill was done under dubba ya and money to Africa for AIDS which I complained about too since some of us knew the majority over there thought using condoms was not manly while thinking raping a preteen virgin would cure them of Aids.
