CSNWashington.Com: Haynesworth Statement Regarding Minicamp Absence: Claims He's All About Team

My number one goal has always been to help my team win -period.

"The Washington Redskins are a great and storied franchise with an owner in Mr. Snyder that will do anything in his power to win and a fan base that is unrivaled in the NFL.

When I signed here after meeting all day with the staff and top executives, and talked about the defense that we would run and what my role would be, I was assured I would have the freedom to play to my strengths and I was excited about the future.

After many years in the NFL, I know what it takes for me to perform at my highest level. My number one goal has always been to help my team win -period.

It's also important at my position to help free my teammates to make plays, which I've done throughout my career when I've been allowed to play to my strengths. I will continue to work individually to prepare for training camp and the start of the 2010 season."

The last 2 paragraphs are new. The rest was on csn.com last night.

He's already seeing his teammates & the rest of the League turn on him for being nothing more then a liar & a thief who only communicates with anyone at the Park through the media.

I'm starting to wonder TK if another team will even be interested in him now. I think the league has had enough of people like him and TO. I'm not sure if TO has even signed with anyone has he?

Right TK and this is backfiring big time. I don't think his agent thought this through real well. Mike Shannahan is respected in the league as well and this is not going to sit well with the established coaches. When dealing with him at this point, after reading his comments, can anyone trust him?

This is not "show me the money", this is "I got the money and I don't care"

How is this all about the team? How does the team benefit from this exactly? How does this behavior add wins to the win column this year?

What on earth is this guy going on about?

Team sports (or teams in general) are really straight-forward. At any given time, on any given play, you have an assignment. That's your job, to do your assignment as best as you can possibly can.

That means knowing the assignment backwards and forwards. It means acquiring or developing the skills you need to do that assignment. And then it means going all out on that assignment when the lights are on.

That's it. That's what teamwork is. Anything else that is "about the team" is hogwash.

Hey, Albert...

Actions speak louder than words.

I wish you the best in what you do in the future, but I hope it's not with the Washington Redskins.

You "wish him the best ..?!"

I consider myself a fairly gracious and forgiving person. But I also expect adults to act like adults. This guy has acted as nothing other than a jackass his entire career! I was mad the day we signed him. And I have ZERO grace and well-wishes toward him! Even if he "saw the light" and came in to camp tomorrow, I'd want him to be escorted away by security and told to go home and sit this season out! Snyder will provide him with a flat screen to watch it on. Then, let's see how his career goes!

What's with this drawn-out, foot-dragging, 3-act play that Haynesworth is putting on right now?

He doesn't like the 3-4. He won't show up for any non-mandatory team activities. He will show up for mandatory mini-camp (a shortened one at that). Then, once the mini-camp date arrives, he changes course and doesn't show up. Then he asks for a trade. The team counters with a threat to sue for his bonus. And now, AH says he's a team guy who plans on showing up at training camp.

If this melodrama is still on the main stage by the time camp starts, expect more delays and excuses.

Other than the way he's gone about this, is his effort to avoid training camp any different than what Brett Favre does every year?

That's probably his whole underlying reason for this. Dude doesn't want to go through Boot Camp Shanahan because he knows it won't be nearly as relaxing as Camp Zorn was last year.

What's really sad is that he could be so dominant as a NT.

Move him around the line and he could really wreak some havoc on teams.

Why Al, why are you being so short sighted here?

Couldn't agree more! The man could be a legend, and instead he choses to be an ass.

Yeah. Wishing bad upon him does no good. I don't care what he does, to be honest. As long as its not in a Skins uniform.

Oh .. believe me .. I'm not hoping he'll step in front of a bus or anything. As a person, I can wish him well too .. but as a Redskin he knows where many of us think he can go!

He said that he planned on getting ready for TC and the 2010 season. He didn't say he planned on it being with the Washington Redskins.

Fat Ass is NO Favre! Favre has earned the right to do what he does. He could retire. He's taken a hell of a lot of hits and yet he has the right to wait and decide if his body can take the punishment any longer and respond for 16+ weeks. He has achieved what few NFL players have done, and that is to win several championships and help his team(s) play at the top of their game for two decades now.

Fat Ass has made a high number of sacks for .. what? .. two/three seasons. And he's been a selfish jackass for his entire existence! He's earned NOTHING (except for a huge frontloaded paycheck from an owner who has more $$$ than sense .. and thank GOD that he finally hired someone smarter than himself to make those decisions!).
