I guess it is hard to evaluate line play and pass rushing in these OTA's, but I'd like to be hearing more about my mancrush Orakpo and our new LT Williams. Almost all of our tweets have been about the WR's and CB's, but I guess that is true for most every team.

Banks is sounding like he might find a place on this team...

If he does this well or better in equipment, maybe we've found a gem. I heard the announcer compare him to Jeremy Maclin in the video. Small recievers are vital in WCOs as well. Thats why Pittburgh and the Eagles have so many small shifty guys that can do damage on slants and make YAC (Jackson, Maclin, Kevin Curtis, Randle El, Ward).

Where did you hear this?

And hopefully Banks can stay healthy and not crumple on the first hit if he makes the team. I'm thinking practice squad.

I believe this is the article I was thinking of, but as you can tell, I am mistaken and it holds no merit.... but then again, they are encouraging words.

Edit: Nevermind. That's not it. I'll keep looking for you.

Edit 2: I've looked for half an hour now. I can't find it. I guess just take Jerry's words for it....

Waiting for a response from him on this.

I just posted it twice just in case Barnes did.

Seems like an error. I've seen another account of today and it only mentioned one INT by Barnes. Also, you'd think he'd say something like "Another INT for Barnes" rather than the same phrasing.

Wow, well thanks man. I didn't really expect any response or anything, just curious. I know Tryon lagged behind his entire rookie season, then played pretty solid, at times, in the slot last season. Can't wait to see what Barnes will do in his second year, I'm really excited to have a guy that's a physical CB.

justin tryon has been a joke of a corner his entire career. he's too small with terrible coverage instincts. i would rather play barnes with his ankles tied together than ever watch tryon again.

He's definitely undersized, but the reason he was kept around, after being drafted at a respectable position of course, by the last regime was in the hopes of reaching his potential, because he's one thing you can't teach a corner: fast. He's very fast. I don't think we've seen it on the field yet, because he's probably been thinking too much, but per every coach he's had so far, he's steadily improving.

I don't think he's shown much on the field, I'm with you on that one, but I don't think he's a hopeless case. And we can afford to keep him on the roster, as long as he beats out Westbrook and any camp bodies, because we aren't stocked at that position outside of starters.

We have:

Rogers

Hall

Buchanon

Barnes

Tryon

I don't think its out of the question that we keep 5 CB's, so as long as he can beat out the others vying for that 5th spot, and push Barnes, I don't see why we can't give a real coaching staff a shot to evaluate him.

Trust me, if he doesn't cut the mustard, he'll be replaced by next offseason, if not sooner.

But if he shows play-maker potential with that speed, we'll probably keep him on, with Roger's situation unknown for the future.

I'm sure right now the battles will be mainly about WR and CB. Especially since they are not supposed to be hitting each other. Maybe when the pads are put on we will hear more about the DL, DE, and LB's.

Don't you think you should give him more than one year?

Agreed.

But Tryon was terrible in his first preseason and wasn't much better when he got spot duty.

Now he's a solid ST guy and played okay as a nickel CB last year. But it's hard to change first impressions.

Still looking for a pro wide receiver as we drop a cb to pick up a wr.
