The news just broke that Dennis Hopper has passed away. I didn't realize he was fighting a battle against prostate cancer. As if Gary Coleman wasn't bad enough.

RIP Dennis. You were a true icon. Easy Rider was a real big-deal movie and you played many great roles. Several generations enjoy your work, and will continue to do so. Blue Velvet is a "staff favorite" at every video store Ive been in.

A sad loss...However, me being a tad older than most I remember things like; Giant, Gunfight at OK Corral, Cool Hand Luke, Hang Em High plus a whole bunch of TV shows (Twilight Zone and Time Tunnel plus numerous appearances on SNL).

But he got to do what he enjoyed doing for a very long time. We should all be so lucky.

Blue Velvet was one of my personal favorites. I still steal his line from the at film regularly:

"**** Heinekin! Pabst Blue Ribbon!!"
