endzone_dave
My father-in-law has a laptop (XP) that gets tons of pop-up windows to appear, even when explorer isn't running. It sounds like a virus to me. Has anyone heard of this? THANKS.
medicio
I think it is down to the windows messenger try exiting the program on start up and see if that helps otherwise use the following link for an online virus check http://security.symantec.com/ssc/home.asp?j=1&langid=us&venid=sym&plfid=23&pkj=UITGBMRSJRFSKLUKUMX
101_proof
Yeah you need to disable windows messenger Open Control panel Open administrative tools Open the Services window (services.msc). Double-click the Messenger entry in the list. Click Stop to close the service. Select Disabled from the Startup type list to prevent it from loading automatically the next time Windows starts. Close the Services window when you're done. Run spybot or adaware to remove any possible spam too.
