THE HAMMER'IN HOG
Agree, I have always said that I have no problem replacing JC. Just make sure you bring someone in that is better than he is.Edit: That said, this whole thing doesn't make sense from the standpoint of next season. What I mean by that is why trade JC? I see the other trades, but not the one with JC. Both Allen and Shanny have stated that they do not want to rebuild. Dumping JC equals rebuilding. And, please having TC and Colt means rebuilding. Also, keeping JC does not mean not drafting a future replacement QB. Teams are always in some form of rebuild, free agency forces teams into it one way or the other. How can we not rebuild the O-line? And if we don't need to rebuild then just how bad is JC? I am always puzzled by the statement that unless we can find someone better we shouldn't get rid of JC, how can we do worse than JC? And even if we did, how much worse could we possibly be????????????????? If I am GM, JC is gone to the highest bidder as soon as possible, and if the highest bid is a 6th rd draft pick? Good bye! As for Moss, and Laundry for Marshall? In a heartbeat I make that trade! We should be so lucky to pull off this trade scenario.
Fred Jones
Chad Pennington, please, at least you could have come up with a better name than that. JC is better than Chad. I can't argue JC's record. It is what it is. And, I can't argue that JC has lost since he has been here. But, I bet Shanny wants a QB with a little more arm strength. At least come up with a QB that has won and doesn't have a noodle arm. Cutler hasn't won either, but I bet you wanted him last year. I just hope all the take a QB with the fourth pick are right. Because at that spot you need to find franchise QB's.

RiggosMohawk
Sorry BLC while I agree with the 'move on from the Campbell era' sentiment, the reality is he will be the starting QB week 1 next year. He's the insurance policy - against the Rams taking Bradford, against a Bradford holdout, against complications from his surgery, and to absorb a beating while the OL gels for 6 or 7 games and the playbook sinks into the rooks head. Then it's Sammy's show for the next decade+. Just a little more patience, it'll be worth it
Destino
Which is pretty laughable. Alex Smith being better than Jason Campbell is indeed laughable. Alex Smith has 43Games 43Interceptions and 37Touchdowns. Jason Campbell has 52Games 38Interceptions and 55Touchdowns. If Jason Campbell were slower, had a weaker arm, threw more interceptions, less touchdowns, completed less passes, and averaged less yards per attempt... they'd be even. SoCalSkins
This title is misleading when you're on the home forum page...All the heading shows is "Jason Campbell traded..." But after it is a true story in the near future all subsequent threads will belong in the around the NFL forum. The end of the nightmare is near. jfriedenthal
Bulger would get DESTROYED in the NFC East, no thanks... True...... but it would allow us to draft a QB, and have a Vet who can step in and play half a season. It would also give us all of our picks, plus another. chaught76
Just because it got lost a couple of pages back. How does this hypothetical trade makes this team better? Now, commenting on the current conversation. I also don't think Campbell has proven he is our future at all. He has proven, in my opinion, that he is a tough, competive average QB when given time to throw, which is why I think as someone else said, he will be brought back until Allen and Shanahan find "their guy" to QB this team into the future. Who that ends up being; don't have clue (which is the way it should be - football people making football decisions).

That being said, I have reservations starting any rookie QB behind our current Swiss cheese line or a newly revamped unproven O-line. It'd be like racing a new car on rusted warn out chassis and old tires. Why put our future on the field and ruin him?
DIRTBAGS74
TK what are the two teams that LANDRY prefers?? I would trade J. Campbell for a second straight up so to get Whitner and a Second is done deal for me. I don't believe the Randy Moss trade for a second I believe it was Santana and Landry for B. Marshall which again I love. That would give us Marshall, 41st pick(BUF) and Whitner and all we give up is Moss,Landry, campbell i say do it. WR/TE's: Marshall, D.Thomas, Kelly, F. Davis & Cooley Safeties: Whitner, Doughty, Horton Picks: 4, 37, 41 we draft two starting OL and a top five qb from those picks that means we only have to find 1 maybe 2 starting OL in a very weak OL FA class. I would be so freaking excited with this kind of off season.

This would almost guarantee we draft a QB in the draft though. Hope we draft and get some immediate upgrades for our O-line though otherwise, I am not real comfortable putting any of our QB back there.
