RFKFedEx
We've all seen the NFL Films of Superbowl Seven countless times, God bless Steve Sabol. Here's an aerial pic I've yet to see floating out there, though maybe some of you have seen it.

veteranskinsfan
I saw the Skins v. Dolphins in that Super Bowl in the Rose Bowl so I think the picture is either of the Rose Bowl or it is a picture of USC Stadium. Rose Bowl is in Pasadena and USC stadium is in downtown LA. lavarisgone
Thats the Los Angeles Coliseum, aka USC's home stadium.

LaRonDontLikeUgly
I wonder if it was harder to see the football back in '72 when everything was in sepia-tone.
redskins55
If only we had won this game.. There would've been no talk of a undefeated Dolphins team and we'd have four Lombardi's

Taylor 36
Hold on, let me get this straight. We played the dolphins in the SuperBowl...In our home stadium? Our home stadium??? That stadium (USC) doesn't look anything like ANY stadium the Redskins have ever called home.

Yeah, and if Kilmer would have hit the wide open Jerry Smith, instead of the goal post, in the end zone, the score might have been tied, and sent us into the first OT in the Super Bowl. FunBunch7
This loss was definitely Mark Brunell's fault! And just to clear up any confusion...this is the LA Coliseum on the campus of USC. Ten years later we would get revenge against Miami, Don Shula and David Woodley in the Rose Bowl some 30 miles away.

RFK Lives
Interesting, if the Goodyear blimp is in the background, I wonder what aircraft took this shot. The goalposts in front of the endzone...stupid! Cost us the game because Billy Kilmer was ahead of his time and knew they should be in the back. budski
I use to think the Goodyear blimp was the coolest thing, especially the writing on the side.
RFKFedEx
Good find. That's a cool looking pic! Thanks Matt. I think this photo is rare because 1973 was long before the days when they started mass producing wide angle posters for every big game. You can easily find posters for todays Superbowls, Ntl. Championships, stadium openings and closings, etc., but not back then. Only in the pre 911 world could you have had multiple aircraft competing for air space above a Suberbowl crowd. MWCREDSKINS
We played them close but we couldn't stop Csonka and they contained Larry Brown that's what it came down to but we got our revenge 10 years later

It was because of that play that the goal posts were moved to the back of the end-zone.
andyburd
We played them close but we couldn't stop Csonka and they contained Larry Brown that's what it came down to but we got our revenge 10 years later We got totally dominated guys, if you watch the whole game, you will see that our defense and a Miami called back TD, was the only thing that kept the score close. My Father went to that game, and all he could say was Manny Fernamdez, kicked our OL all over the field. We also got our only score, on a fluke play at the end of the game. Miami kicked our butts

MarkB452
That is cool. Gotta love early Seventies L.A. smog. I remember reading somewhere that one of the game photographers was amazed at the light readings they were getting on their equipment and that they had to make adjustments to their camera settings due to the smog.
