Kinda harsh.

Yeah, guess it was. Just trying to steer him in the right direction is all. Sorry if I went overboard, manaconda.

It is a forum, I cannot believe how seriously some people take this.

The reason for "thread etiquette" is so that the forum stays as free of clutter as possible. Having three or four threads for everything means that most or all of them will get bumped off the front page so quick that a lot of potentially good discussion will be lost because those who would have posted their thoughts will never have seen the thread at all. It's one of the things that makes this the best board EVER!

Think you still got a little brown stuff left on your nose there, bud.

It's not what you think. I was just hungry.

Ok, im starting to learn, hope this is better...

You da man!

Mathews seemed the more impressive in the video, but then, it's the WAC. He seemed a lot bigger than 5'11" on film there. Between the raw aggression, the apparent size, and the number on his jersey he made me think of ST as a RB. The problem with both of these guys is having them fall to us with our 4th or having to use a 2nd on one of them. It seems logical to take an OT and a QB with those first two picks and we've already used our third rounder on Jarmon. If we take a RB I think it will be on Day 2.

After watching these two videos each one time, here's what I see...

Montario is a spin doctor, I'm not sure I've ever seen a RB use the spin move to his advantage that many times throughout one game. He also had a strong game against a very solid Game****s defense that seem to be dominating the line-play in the beginning. He runs hard up the middle but also seems to get gobbled-up quickly when there is no room to run. I enjoy highlight reels that show progress throughout an entire game, as appose to just choosing all the 'home-run' clips. I'm not in love, but this guy looks very good to me.

Matthews did not impress me. His break-away speed seemed subpar at best... I'm guessing (based off the film alone) he runs around a 4.64. Scouting reports describe him as a hard interior runner, but the majority of highlights from this clip were off-tackle plays and he bumped to the outside WAY too often for my liking. Those bigtime plays on the outside won't be there at the next level, but he may be a solid goal-line back and actually performed very well against the better teams they faced this year.

Matthews has been timed as low as 4.42 at 220 lbs, which is a respectable 40 time for a bigger back.. Well analyst seem to think he will be great in a zone blocking scheme.

Yeah, I agree. Matthews will be gone in second, if we want him we have to use that pick, but hardesty will probably be a 3rd or 4th round pick, so there is a chance he could fall to us.. Def go O line first pick though! We can really get a steal on RB and QB in the 4th and 5th round i think.. just my opinion..

I personally would somehow like to see us draft Joe Mcknight. I really did not see much of USCs games, but when I did get the chance, Joe stood out from the rest of USCs runningback. He has great size (6'1) speed, and great elusiveness. Reminds me of a Reggie Bush type player, but a tad bit more down hill runner, and not scared to buck up. (Reggie just learning to do that)

BTW: if anyone has the time to do it (since I'm on my phone) . Can someone post up, draft analysis on this guy. His Pros & Cons, & where he'll be projected.

I like him too, 40 time isnt at all great but his game time speed is much faster. Here ya go!

Height: 6-0

Weight: 190

40 time: 4.45

Current projection: Third round

Strengths: Is an elite athlete with top-level explosiveness and playing speed. Can stop and start in a flash, which helps him make quick, sharp cuts and make tacklers miss. Has the explosive cutting ability to get to and through holes fast. Combines good balance, agility and coordination to make tacklers miss; is a legit TD threat any time he gets the ball in the open field. Has foot quickness to accelerate to full speed in a flash; outruns some players with angles on him and gets the corner when he bounces runs outside. Has natural, soft hands. Catches the ball well out of the backfield and is a dangerous runner after the catch. Has shown the ability to be a dangerous returner.

Weaknesses: Has a slight frame and struggled in college to avoid injuries, including many minor dings; must prove he is tough enough for the NFL. Is not an aggressive runner and has a tendency to dance to avoid contact while searching for a hole. Tries to bounce almost all rushing attempts outside if he does not see a hole initially; will not lower shoulder and attack line of scrimmage to gain tough yardage. Is not good in short-yardage situations. Runs upright, leading to hard hits and limiting his ability to run after contact. Does not gain nearly as many yards after contact as you would expect for someone with his elusiveness. Uses bad technique as a pass blocker; often lunges at rusher's feet rather than stepping up and blocking aggressively. Does not seem like an instinctive runner; often fails to follow blockers like the play calls for. Had ball-security issues in college; needs to do a better job of wrapping up ball with both hands.

Bottom line: McKnight left school early for the draft and definitely could have helped his stock by staying in school for another season. He lacks the thickness to be a durable NFL starter and will have to prove he is tough enough to be a major contributor at the next level. There is little doubt that he has the elite athleticism, top-end playing speed and explosiveness to make big plays when he gets the ball in the open field, but he is not a tough or aggressive runner, and he struggles to gain yards after contact. While many want to compare McKnight to Reggie Bush, who has been a disappointment in the NFL, McKnight was not close to being the player Bush was at USC. have a feeling McKnight will be over-drafted because of the athleticism he will show at the Combine and in his personal workout. We would not use a first or second-round pick on him because we have not seen enough to be confident he will become a productive NFL player. He is best suited to be a mid-round pick who can be tried as a third-down back. To succeed in that role, he must greatly improve his pass blocking and protect the ball much better.
