quick question for red sox fans/boston area residents

I'm going to be flying out to Boston for the Dodgers/Red Sox series and the Dodgers are offering a package that will include tickets to all three games as well as one room for $2,800 (4 people included is $700 per person)

This seems a bit pricey but I'm not sure how hard/expensive getting tickets to Fenway are, especially for this series... Manny being back, interleauge play etc.

I can get us a room at a much nicer hotel for around $500 for the entire trip, which would essentially leave us with $575 a peiece to spend on tickets to all three games.

My main concern is being able to get tickets to all three games or at the very least two games.

So once again, how hard is it to get tickets to a big series at Fenway? Would I be better off getting the package, paying more money and staying at a lesser hotel or is it fairly easy to get tickets through the ticket office or on stub hub etc?

I've already contacted the ticket office and the tickets havent been put on sale and they dont allow pre orders.

thanks

I don't live in Boston, but I used too. It's my favorite city in the US.

You could probable scalp tickets... for less than $100 a gam and could probable get a hotel for $200 a night right down at copley where the players stay..... Short T ride or walk to Fendway. (15-20 minutes)..

Call a scalper and see what tickets typically go for? You could find one in the back of the City Paper or the Globe maybe.

I can actually get a pretty good rate at the Fairfield Battery Wharf Hotel, $150 a night and I've heard its a pretty nice hotel.

But I really didnt want to risk going all the way over there and not be able to see at least two games.

Thanks for the info, I'll try the scalper thing. Seems strange to me that they would advertise in the paper though. Isnt scalping tickets illegal?

Manny's return seems like a wildcard (ha) as far as ticket demand goes. I'm sure that will be a very well attended series, but then again that's every series at Fenway.

$575 for three games, none against the Yankees, seems like a boatload of cash and I'll bet you can do better with a scalper. I agree with JMS -- City Paper seems like a good starting place.

Take some extra time while you're in town to hang out and get the feel of the place. Awesome city and you're guaranteed to have a good time.

Sweet, thanks for the input guys. My friends are kind of counting on me to get this taken care of and I dont want to convince them not to do that package then show up in Boston not being able to find tickets.

I'm sure once the tickets go on sale I can find some on Ebay/stub hub/craigslist too. I like the scalper idea but I kind of would prefer to have the tickets in hand before I get to the city. We're flying in the afternoon of the first game.
