Rex Tomb
Sounds like Mike and Kyle Shanahan know what they have in Kelly and Thomas. I'm hoping they get a QB that can actually deliver those touch passes, though. I remember when Campbell tried to throw a few of those passes, they were always overthrown. Sigh...April can't come fast enough.
Blackest Eyes
Sounds like a really encouraging conversation...lets hope that Shanahan is a man of his word! I am really looking forward to seeing how the young guys (DT, MK & FD) play in Shanahans offense.

SnyderMustGo
Same off-season articles as last season. D Thomas and Kelly were supposed to break out and tear it up after having their roles increased. Didn't happen. I require proof for my eyes before I buy anymore puff pieces like this. The third year is usually when WRs either step up or step out.
MTree
Except this season we have a proven head coach and offensive coordinator. Both of which have lead very potent offencses already and know how to put there players in the best position to win
Hiro
You mean our coaches actually plan to put our players in roles they'll excel in?? :thud: I'd cry tears of joy if our offense resembled anything close to what Houston runs ..

I think they both did well, especially Thomas. With a better scheme, a real head coach, and hopefully better blocking to allow patterns to develop, both of these guys may excel. I understand though, we're tired of potential around here, time to produce!

I understand though, we're tired of potential around here, time to produce! I can understand people waiting to see the proof, but I don't care what anyone says, this is better news than we've heard for quite a while. The fact that we've got a coach who actually knows what he's doing isn't even the most encouraging part. The fact that we've got a coach who knows how to use players and put them into a position to win, instead of just putting them out there to do whatever he was planning on doing regardless of who was in what position and regardless of what the defense has been doing all game and regardless of what team we're playing, that's pretty encouraging. Same with the fact that I might never have to hear the words: rhythm, suddenness, or "it's our execution" again make me happy enough to keep me positive. It's hard to produce when you don't get thrown the ball. I'm not predicting amazing things, but at least we have a staff who will likely get the playmakers the ball. Spartacus87
Our previous coaching staff must have been so incompetent. Stan Hixon must be one of the worst WR coaches in the league, our play calling set up made zero sense, and Zorn's offense was so bland in design, yet somehow so confusing and specific in execution. I don't think we ever ran plays where receivers' routes were actually supposed to complement each other to try and get a specific guy open. It was more like, everyone run these random routes and just hope Campbell doesn't miss you or throw it over your head while he's under constant pressure, and if you can't do that correctly, you're dropped down the depth chart. I can't wait to see how this offense develops under Mike and Kyle Shanahan.
skinsfan190
Thank you God. We have talent at the reciever position, we just never used it. If Kelly and Thomas step up we might be able to trade Moss and gain an extra 3rd round pick. Yeah I said it. We all know we need all the draft picks we can get. 5 just isn't enough. iMeast
It sounds like both Devin Thomas and Malcom( Kelly have high hopes for the '10 season. Lets just hope those aspirations come to fruition. HTTR

pjfootballer
I think it's encouraging that both our young WRs want to get better and be a bigger part of the offense. It's also encouraging that we have a staff that will try to exploit their talents. Would you guys rather not hear a word from Thomas or Kelly in the offseason? I would think if they didn't say anythng, they would be satisfied with their lack of production. But as others have said, they did improve, it takes WRs longer to learn and they WANT to get better. mistertim
It is definitely encouraging to hear that Shanny wants to put him in that position. My question is how hard is Kelly going to work on his route running this offseason? The guy has phenomenal hands but one of the things I've noticed after watching games over again is he just can't seem to get separation, which is odd for a guy so big. Hopefully he can learn to do that with our new WR coach.
DoGood28
I have a feeling that Zorn (bless his heart) made this team look worse than it really is. We obviously have big issues with the o-line and we did have some moments of competitiveness, but the team looked disjointed and ill-prepared. Shanahan should provide a much greater influence over everything football related. I'm excited. Almost more than Gibbs II.
Gregpeck99
The strong implication is a new QB with a quicker release and more accurate delivery than Coddlebell.

Probbaly not the best Idea unless u get a great offer like a second rounder. I think we should just release Randle El and move Moss around more. He could be nice in the Slot.
