HigSkin
DT has a great attitude about this year. I can't wait to see the on-field product from his enthusiasm. http://affiliate.kickapps.com/_Cant-Keep-My-Mind-Off-Football/BLOG/1843902/84736.html?widgetId=198759 I am excited about having Coach Shanahan take over the team. The way I look at it, it’s like Phil Jackson taking over the Lakers. We have so much talent, now we have a leader who will make sure that talent produces on the field. You couldn’t ask for a better coach to represent our team. Everyone knows about Coach Shanahan’s success and his ability to build a team and put a plan into action. When you have a great leader, his attitude trickles down through the players. It starts at the top and works its way to the bottom. The coach reflects the team. Look at the Steelers, they have a tough, defensive minded coach and they’re a tough, defensive minded team. Coach Shanahan is a disciplined, well respected coach, he will make sure we don’t keep having problems with penalties and that everyone is in the right places at the right time. With him on the field and Bruce Allen in the front office I think we’re going to surprise some people next season. For me, it’s great to have another year under my belt, another year toward getting into that comfort zone on the field. I take away from my experience everything I can, so next year I’ll have an edge to help us win any way I can. We lost a lot of close games, some devastating losses. We don’t want to repeat that next year. It’s like in college, from freshman to senior year, you’re naturally more mature and able to handle situations better with experience. I’m so excited I’m already starting to hit the weights pretty hard. The Super Bowl was here in Miami, and being around that atmosphere and the buildup before the game makes you want to be in the same position the Saints and Colts were in. Tracy Porter is a guy I know, I can relate to him and he’s a Super Bowl champion. I’m ready to play this game the way it needs to be played to get us into the playoffs. I’ve already called my guy at the gym to tell him I’m ready to get back into it. You want to take your mind off the game for a while, but right now, with a new coach, everything is so crystal clear for the upcoming season as to what kind of success we can have. I can’t keep my mind off football.
StillUnknown
next year is a big proving year for him & Kelly imo. thomas showed flashes of talent last year, now we just need consistency from him. last season it seemed he either had a great game or was completely invisible

hailskins11
Wow, What a difference a respected leader will make on this team man. If Devin is working as hard as it sounds, I will become a bigger fan of his.
RedlightG20
This is great to hear, and I'm glad some of the Super Bowl excitement has rubbed off on him in Miami. But unlike Devin's projection about this team making noise next year, I think they'll be an 8-9 win team due to some player turnover that (hopefully) takes place. And through that, I trust that Devin and Malcom Kelly grow into two studs and shore up our inconsistent WR play for many years afterward when this team starts to really come together. I can’t keep my mind off football. I loved reading his entire blog ,especially the parts I bolded:D. I'm seriously digging the fact that he's about to hit the gym. I LOVE that he's going about his preparations to make himself not only physically prepared for the 2010 season, but mentally as well.
westcoasthog
I like DT. He seems to play with a ton of heart and seems to want the ball in his hands. With some quality coaching and a solid game plan I think he could quickly develop into more than just a serviceable reciever for us. It is hard to be too excited/confident as a Redskins fan...but I'm starting to let myself believe that this franchise is on the right track. pjfootballer
"NOW WE HAVE A LEADER". That says it all I'm so happy the ship isn't lost at sea anymore. And this is what hiring Allen and Shanahan will do. Allen shares his dad's attitude about not wanting to be a loser and Shanahan feels the same way. I can see the culture of the team changing already. Just being positive at the top in such a short time has already changed the attitude of some of the players and that is great to hear. We won't be a SB team next year, but like past Redskin teams, we won't be an easy win anymore. Next year, we may only win about 7 or 8 games but the other team will have to bring their "A" game if they want to beat us. We will get back to respectability and that is a great first step. DallasSucks19922010
Do they have a bunch of signs at Redskins Park saying "We have a lot of talent"? If they really had as much talent as they think they do, then they would probably be in the Super Bowl every year. But I really like Thomas' enthusiasm and he was one of the few bright spots of the season.

This sounds like a quote from a hungry, young player who is seeing his peers make noise in the league and wants to make a name for himself. I firmly believe this guy will emerge as our #1 this season.
paloosa
So many people are looking forward to next season but can only say that this team will only win 7 to 9 games, which is realistic. The thing is they will probably win more than that because they do have the talent to win more. We just had a coaching staff that couldn't inspire anyone to play hard. The team resembled the Head Coach's demeanor which showed on the field. So I expect the team will be more competitive and win the games they are expected to win and be competitive in the other ones. There will be some changes this offseason and Devin Thomas, Malcolm Kelly, and all the other draft picks are going to get their opportunities this year to prove their worth or they will be on the street looking for another team. This won't be the cake walk of the past few years so button down the hatches it might get a little rough around Reskins Park.
thinker
blah, blah talk is cheap. He phoned in his rookie year. He was below average at best his second year. He finished 135th in the NFL in yards and had 25 catches. Shut up until you make a difference on the field.

I have no problem in the main with a "let your FOOTBALL do the talking" attitude, (although I'm personally made up to read Devin's comments and love his attitude to giving his all to this organization); but the glaring difference between those first two years and now is that we now have a respected guy who will call a professional game again, and involve ALL these guys; allied to doubtless a new QB going forward who will do the same. Hail.

But I really like Thomas' enthusiasm and he was one of the few bright spots of the season. Well there is talent there for sure. It may not be developed, but we do have some talent. ( Moss, Thomas, Kelly, Mitchell Cooley and Davis catching the ball I would say qualify as talent) The biggest drawbacks last season for the offense, was the line and coaching/discipline. I think they need to add talent to the line, but there is some talent on team. Not sure how you deduced someone stating there is talent on this team to a Super Bowl contender but I did not see it or read it like that.

But I really like Thomas' enthusiasm and he was one of the few bright spots of the season. Every roster in the NFL has talent - some more than others for sure, but they can all play the game. Its what you do with that talent that counts. The structure you provide, the system you operate that makes the most of that talent rather than forcing round pegs into square holes and above all creating a culture of accountability and a clear focus on winning and team. We were a shambles last year in all these areas. As for Devin Thomas he has shown flashes and he clearly has talent. This year is put up or shut for him - if he does not produce we will probably be looking to upgrade that spot the following year.
