I read about this the other day. They've been trying for months to get the town clear of civilians, but the Taliban is not letting many of them leave, hoping to use them for shields.

Good luck to the Allied men and women. Their cause is just, and they need everyone's support.

By the way, what is up with the Middle East and using human shields? I know this type of BS is prevalent outside the ME, but it seems to be used ALL the time buy Taliban, Al-Queda, and other similar POS groups. What a bunch of little ****es, always hiding their faces on videos, beheading innocent civilian contractors, using innocent people as shields, using mentally handicapped people as suicide bombers. Seriously, what pieces of **** these people are, I hope our marines are able to weed out these bad guys in this offensive.

This is just my opinion... but I've always felt they try use our compassion for humanity against us. Strategy, really.

And in the midst of these battles, if by chance Americans kill civilians, they use THAT against us in their propoganda by calling American soldiers murderers.

So the Taliban settled into the area to set up bomb-making operations, protected by the canals which serve as barriers to heavy combat vehicles. And they plan to hide behind civilians there. The scum.

They don't stand a chance in a stand-up fight with the U.S. Marines - very few can. These tactics are effective though and there only resort.

I just think it's a pansy-ass strategy. How can you call yourself a fighter, hell, how can you call yourself a man, then hide behind women and children? You'd think they'd have an ounce of dignity or shame or something...I mean, they supposedly have their God on their side, they shouldn't even need weapons, much less shields.

EDIT: Sorry to go off, I'm just tired of hearing about these extremists groups and others who don't value human life at all. People who have no problem hurting innocent people, throwing acid in the faces of girls trying to get an education, etc., etc., etc. I hope the marines make a successful push in eradicating this BS and then the people of Afghanistan realize the help they've been given and work to turn their country around, run fair elections, etc.

I just hope they have (or will) slipped some forces behind the area to take the bad guys out as they try to run away. I'm sick of just re-locating them. :mad:

US and Brit special forces have been playing tag and took out about 50 of the leadership ranks

Sums it up for me.

It's funny how the US built the irrigation systems to provide food for the Afghans, and people start farming poppies.
Lot of money to be made (which buys a lot more food than can be grown and guns and everything else) with poppies versus crops. :( :mad:

Agreed. I don't care what cause or culture or religious foundation or geo-political/economic circumstance you use as explanation, there is no honor of any kind in any warrior code for such tactics. It is only and totally dishonorable and reprehensible to any view I can believe in--and I comprehend the stone-cold pragmatic arguments/rationales, as well as the zealot-driven ones, used to defend the thinking for such tactics. I just refuse on a personal level to consider those arguments as acceptable justification or valid in any redeeming manner, ****ing period.

Just fight and die for your belief, even against overwhelming odds if that's the case. And lose even your dearest cause in the process before negating and making a mockery of the very things you claim to hold important. The ends do not justify the means for me, no matter what interpretation of what holy tome is being cited by any group anywhere.

I hope no civilians, especially women and children, get crippled or killed. I hope our troops succeed easily. I hope this brings us much closer to the end of violence and war.

And as for the other issue, its a sad reality that pretty much everyone we fight is going to use similar tactics. Otherwise they are doomed, and they know it. They are in it to win and survive, not to die bravely and honorably. So we have to deal with it as best we can.
