Off season pick up's?

You've got two. :)

If I had my choice, I'd get Hamilton, Ryan Pickett, Sean Jones or Leigh Bodden (depending on their price tags). I might take a long look at Okeafor also, or Porter (but from what I remember he's an off-the-field headache, which I don't think Shanahan will want to deal with), but that too would depend on their asking price (Dansby too, that's a full ILB group, and maybe a little overkill with McIntosh, Fletcher, AND Dansby).

The problem with just throwing money at people during the uncapped year, according to John Clayton, is that owners are planning on spending as if there were going to be a cap next year. Now obviously we can give FAs contracts that have a guaranteed first year of like 20 million in a 60 million dollar contract, getting all that bonus money out of the way THIS year, rather than spreading it.

Another thing I'm hoping the franchise does is paying Hall and Haynesworth the major bulk of those contracts this season, so that we aren't stuck underneath them if/when the cap comes back next season.

Thanks this helps alot and i hope we do pick up people if we go to a 3-4 because i really dont like the idea of moving people around and forcing the issue especially like carter when they are old and i highly doubt he could play olb effectively and i dont see McIntosh as a good ILB

Outstanding Recap!!!

athletic linemen, anyone who is a FA from denver or houston, back up qb with experience in the shannahan system, 3-4 defenders (if that's what we switch to), FS.

this is just what i believe, but these could be some FA points of interest. i don't think any big name is available for these positions.

what I'd love to see is almost impossible to find anywhere on the web right now but a list of likely RFA's who will be non tendered or a list of players currently under contract who are likely to be released to save future $........ Because that group will greatly open up the names in the free agent pool without the risk of losing draft picks.

These boards should be a lot of fun come early March once the free agent pool really clears up.

My dream scenario would be to address every weakness through FA this year and then be in a position where we can use the draft on BPA no matter the round and then that way we can start debating OLINE among other things but I'd love to see us really use FA well this year and am hopeful other owners who want to save money help to open the FA pool because you know Danny Boy will spend when others won't.

there could be, but I actually heard it on Sirius when he said it and my first reaction was that he included us simply to drive up his contract price....it was almost comical when I first heard because he didn't sound really enthusiastic when mentioning us.

But almost sounded giddy when talking about the Giants so who knows but if I had to guess I would say he ends up with the GMEN next year.

I believe it has been hinted at before by the inside sources that be and Dunta Robinson is the other player we may be (legitimately) interested in. My memory of what has been said may not be 100% accurate, though, and I'm not up to confirming the info at the moment.

You got one right.

You may be the least helpful mother****er that has ever lived.

Ryan Pickett, Green Bay's NT, is another one, and he wouldn't cost as much, and is 2 years younger (this is the guy I'd try to get).
I really don't think we'll part with him, he seems to be our highest priority in re-sigining
You might hear that we try to sign Aaron Kampman (DE/LB for the Packers) but ignore it (if we sign him we're idiots) he's older, and he was really bad in the 3-4 for the Packers, great in a 4-3, awful in a 3-4, and ended up getting benched in place of one of their rookies from this years draft (they seemed to have had a really solid draft last year).

I think its important that I clear up this issue. Kampman was not benched, he was injured and put on IR. He and Al Harris both injured their knees in the game against the ever hated Dallas. Kampman struggled a bit in coverage, and he wasn't as good at rushing the QB until we started putting him in a 3-point stance. I do wonder how he'd be as a 3-4 DE rather than OLB. We're set on the line (assuming we re-sign Pickett and Jolly doesn't go to jail), so he won't be playing there in GB.

If you guys are looking at Tackles, there's a possibility Chad Clifton may find himself on the market, and maybe Mark Tauscher as well. I really have no idea what's gonna happen with them, but they are certainly serviceable tackles if you're in need.
