Source: Jones works out for Bengals

Former Tennessee Titans and Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones worked out for the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday, according to league sources.

The workout is thought to be Jones' first with an NFL team since the Cowboys released him in February 2009.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis has been a champion in providing second chances to players.

Jones has avoided trouble since his last brush with the law in October 2008. He was involved in an alcohol-related incident with a bodyguard assigned to him by the Cowboys, and hotel employees called police. No arrests were made nor charges filed. But the NFL suspended Jones for four games because the incident was a violation of the league's personal conduct policy.

Jones began his time in Dallas under close league scrutiny after he was suspended for the entire 2007 season for multiple violations of the conduct policy while he was a member of the Titans. The Cowboys traded for Jones before his suspension was over and he was reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Aug. 28, 2008.

The Bengals also have expressed interest in former Jaguars wide receiver Matt Jones, who was suspended for the final three games of the 2008 season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He was cut by the Jaguars in March 2009.

I can understand Matt Jones because they need help at WR; however, I don't understand the Pacman interest. Pacman is nothing but trouble and his play nowhere near justifies his horrible behavior off the field. Plus Cincinnati may have the best starting duo of DB's in Leon Hall and Jonathan Joseph, I can't imagine it's that hard to find a nickel or dime corner that Cincy is having to resort to this idiot.

Oakland and Dallas tried signing the 'problem children' and setting up team offices that were supposed to track their off the field progress and offer counseling.

Good idea but it didn't work. The money and temptations are just too great for these fallen angels.

Matt Jones is a cocaine addict.

Pacman Jones is a walking misdemeanor.

Jones could be a beast for them.

As long as he keeps his nose clean. :silly: I couldn't resist.

I do believe he could be that big possession receiver that Houshmandzadeh was for the Bengals. He could be a good compliment to Johnson, if he has his head on straight and focuses on football.

It's not Marvin. It's their owner/GM who loves to sign guys with character issues because he can get them cheap.
It is a combination of front office/owner showing their well known thrifty ways and Marvin who believes he can change the players. I have always respected the man but there is a point when enough is enough....and Pacman is over the top.
Every dog has it's day. Last year was probably just a flash in the pan. It looks like they're back to their old ways.

I hope they sign Pacman.

It may have been a flash in the pan year but they do have talent and Palmer should be at 100% next year. I expect his numbers to increase.

Ocho Cinco was pushing for the Bengals to take a flier on T.O. I can't imagine the two on the same team.

Yeah I think Jones is the perfect compliment to Ocho. And if Coles sticks around and you have Andre Caldwell, that's a pretty nice foursome.

As far as Jones staying clean, he reminds me of Chris Anderson a bit. Dude was banned from the NBA for two years (for drugs) and has since come back and been a model citizen. He's not a superstar but he's a very nice, very valuable roleplayer. Just like Jones could be.

Palmer might start the year at one hundred percent, but it's unlikely that he'll end it that way. Besides, for all the talk about their passing game, Cincy relied heavily on running and their passing attack was underwhelming. Does everyone seriously think that Matt Jones is going to change all fo that?

Ocho and TO would be a media circus. If that distracts the team, then I'm all for it.

Matt Jones is the perfect example of an extremely physically talented guy that just can't pick up the pro game. He never got it, and he most likely never will.

He appeared to be picking up the pro game quite well back in '08 before he was arrested and suspended. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a great year and was a valuable weapon for that offense, he just has to stay out of trouble off the field.

Agreed. Matt Jones I don't mind necessarily because he does deserve a 2nd chance to show that he is clean.

Adam Jones is a different story. The guy is a scumbag of a human being and should be banned from the NFL for the crimes he has committed. Plus, he's not even that good of a football player.

Well they didn't offer Pacman a contract, so you probably don't have to worry about that... One can always hope, though.
