fullnelson9999
Dennis Miller is a well known conservative... and any of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour guys.... Dennis Leary.... Carlin even seemed to have some conservative tendencies. Denis Leary? Not too sure on that one.
Smoot Point Really
Why would the Republicans need a show nobody watches anyway? The only thing these shows have going for them are YouTube clips.
TimmySmith
Why would the Republicans need a show nobody watches anyway? The only thing these shows have going for them are YouTube clips. This is basically it. Demographics and ratings drive all TV. Democrats generally have a younger audience, does anyone actually know a soul over 21 who watches either Stewart or Colbert on a regular basis? Burgold
Conservatives aren't funny. They're angry, but not in an insightful and brilliant George Carlin sort of way. In a "dude, you're going to have to pay for that hole you just put in my wall" sort of way. Besides, I thought Rush was just an "entertainer" and his work was "satire"
DRSmith
You would think with the enormous success that these shows have that the right wing would just have to try something like this. I thought that was what Palin was going to be on Fox then I found she was suppose to be taken seriously.
NavyDave
Considering how pathetic CNN, MSNBC, Headline news, PBS, etc are doing in the ratings compared to FOX when it comes to the news, its understandable why liberals try to escape to the comedy channel for a laugh. Rocky21
Speaking of which I saw this on Colbert last night. Cracked me up. JohnLockesGhost
Stewart's show would be hard to replicate, but I don't really consider him to be so much liberal as anti-establishment. I could come up with a "liberal" Colbert, but I don't think it would be very funny.
Larry
because republicans dont have a sense of humor You're reminding me of, IMO, the second best line in all of film. (#1 being "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.") "You all come here to laugh at me, like them other cops?" "No, ma'am. We in the FBI do not have a sense of humor that we're aware of."
Kilmer17
I saw a repub try and tell a joke last week and he burst into flames. The reason is simple, it would fail miserably.

Corcaigh
does anyone actually know a soul over 21 who watches either Stewart or Colbert on a regular basis? Even if you said 40 you wouldn't be close. The median age of "Daily Show" viewers in May 2009 was 41.4, and the median age of "Colbert Report" viewers was 38.3. So more than half the Daily Show viewers are over 41 and for Colbert it's 38. For comparison Leno's median viewer age is consistently 55. http://www.forbes.com/2009/06/12/stewart-colbert-television-ratings-business-media-stewart.html
RabidFan
Miller's show was awful....he had a chimpanzee for schtick. His turn to the right ruined him in my eyes...all because Willie's affair. His Black and White tour before that was great stuff.
jnhay
Judging by the conservative talk show hosts out there right now, I'm pretty sure they're just not very funny. Glenn Beck has his moments (legitimate ones where he's trying to be funny). The others joke around a lot, but rarely say anything funny. It's sad. deejaydana
Even though he doesn't have his own show, I'd say Dennis Miller's brief interviews on O'Reilly make for entertaining satire. He's as quick witted as Jon Stewart.
hockeysc23
I wouldn't watch it if they did and I lean more conservative. But I also don't watch Daily Show or Colbert. I don't think I've ever seen a whole episode of one. There are plenty of funny shows out there, I don't need political humor.
Bang
For every 10 arrows shot at republicans, they shoot one obligatory arrow at a democrat. And at a democrat they don't care about. Like the real crazy ones.Has Stewart covered the Pelosi Copenhagen scam yet? No? Shocking. Had that been a republican, he would have already sent a correspondent to file a report. I'm not expecting to see Chris Matthews, Olberjoke or Stepahack cover it either. Boo hoo. Not yet on Pelosi, but I expect it to happen. They just "covered" the blizzard of last weekend last night. And within that skit, they lampooned the whole idea of global warming. They lampooned those who think it's real, they lampooned those who think it's not, and they even lampooned people who are afraid of the dark. On Wednesday Lewis Black took shots at Rahm and Palin for the whole "r word" thing. For those keeping score, that's almost two weeks after that story broke. It's a comedy show, and sometimes it takes a few days to get the ideas that they want down before they make a skit. If they treated their comedy as if it were news that had to be covered as the stories broke, the show would suffer. Comedy does not just report stories. There is a creative process. It's painfully obvious you don't get that, since you call their people correspondents. They're not. They're comedians. Big big big big HUGE difference. You've just given a prime example as to why this idea of a 'conservative comedy program' would die. You treat it like news. They must "cover" something. It's not news, it is comedy, and comedy satirizes in it's own time. The key to doing it well is to be able to laugh at one's self. The entire premise of a 'conservative' comedy show flies in the face of this, since by it's very name it is only out to lampoon one side. The Daily Show does not take a side, no matter how much some want to believe it does. ~Bang

They're not even citing the temperature, just the precipitation! The Daily Show does not take a side, no matter how much some want to believe it does. ~Bang And even if it did skew one way, it'd still be a ton more objective than any right wing "comedy" show.
