'Miss Me Yet?' Billboard With Photo Of Bush Is Real; Not An Internet Trick

bushboard.jpg?s=12

By Mark Memmott

Internet chatter had led to speculation that it might be an urban myth -- nothing more than clever digital trickery spreading via the Web.

But our friend Bob Collins at Minnesota Public Radio assures us he's seen it with his own eyes:

There is a billboard along I-35 near Wyoming, Minn., with a huge photo of former president George W. Bush and this question: "Miss Me Yet?"

Now, the push is on to find out who paid to have it put up.

Bob says there's no readily apparent claim of ownership on the billboard, so he's heading back to the scene to see if he can find out who's behind the message. He's also got some local politicos looking into it. He'll keep us posted.

At first glance, it would seem to be from some person or group who isn't thrilled by President Barack Obama's performance so far -- unless it's a more ironic message from those who didn't think too much of Bush and want to remind voters about him.

Mary Teske, the general manager of Schubert & Hoey Outdoor Advertising reports, "The Bush Miss Me Yet? billboard was paid for by a group of small business owners who feel like Washington is against them. They wish to remain anonymous. They thought it was a fun way of getting out their message."

No news yet on the person behind the billboard, so to speak. But Bob went by and took his own photo of it, so we're now using his shot above.

I hate to admit it, but kind of. I mean, Bush had Iraq. Obama has Afghanistan. I can't really figure out what either of them have wanted to accomplish with these wars, but at least Bush didn't keep trying to force major changes in policy based on his party's agenda.

To be fair, Bush had Iraq and Afghanistan. Obama just reprioritized.

There are plenty of better things to hate on Obama for.

Meh, it's a fun fluff feature. I don't see any hazzard to their journalistic integrity. They are reporting on an event in Minnesota. Clearly, the people who hired to have the sign made and displayed wanted to make a political statement. It's actually curious why they would not be willing to identify themselves.

Makes it a fun story.

WHAT?! I really can't even think of where to start.

Scary isn't it? The guy may be a total scumbag but he could do the job.

Agreed. However, we are 9 years removed from 9/11. Clinton had peaceful times(obviously, it wasn't completely peaceful...but the war on terror makes what he had to deal with seem minor) and the dot-com boom. Even Bush and Obama would have been considered great presidents during that era.

Having said that, I'd take Clinton over them both as well.

True. At least the Afghanistan war makes sense, but it seems like the enemy has sort of moved to other places (Yemen, Pakistan). When Bush went there, it made sense. Why he remained there for his entire term, I don't know.

Nope there is nothing to hate Obama for. I learned my lesson with Clinton (yes I had Clinton derangement syndrome) and realized that the hate wasn't worth it and blinded me. The same thing befell many Democrats with Bush, they became just as irrational as I was with Clinton and couldn't see past that hate. I learned Clinton wasn't a horrible President and I'm sure some will learn Bush wasn't as bad as they thought he was. I personally rank Bush about 2/3ds down among Presidents and Clinton a bit above him (ie Clinto is about middle of the Pack). As for Obama I see him as another Jimmy Carter who imo is near the bottom of the barrel. But he has time. I think the elections this year may save him just as the elections of 1994 saved Clinton.

Why exactly is this even a story? lol..."It's not fake, it's real!!"..."Who's behind it!?!?"...Seriously? Anyone cares either way?

I think it points out how bad Bush was and how a lot of people were like,"Anybody but Bush." Which leads to the,"Anybody but Obama" style of joke it's implying.

I'd miss him with a machine gun, till the tracer rounds found the target. He's out of office now I can talk about shooting him all I want. :evilg:

I would be a careful unless you like extra attention, you are mistaken in your assumption.;)

(My other answer might be, "Well yes, somebody jostled my arm, next time I won't miss" but THAT kind of answer might earn me a visit from the dark suits.)

Speaking of men in dark suits.
