GibbsFactor
When I was young, 10 or 11, we got that threat after tossing some snowballs at a mail truck.

frostyj
Of course its the cops fault for these guys to break the law. They thew objects at vehicles and got caught, they deserve it. It will be lowered in court. It's just the terminology as to how a missile is defined(to broad imho). The law does need to be re-written. Latin missilis, from mittere to throw, send Date: 1611 1 : capable of being thrown or projected to strike a distant object 2 : adapted for throwing or hurling missiles I could throw a cotton ball at someone and be charged the same thing. Destino
Flat out ridiculous. Help me out here, is this the type of felony charge that stops you from voting and owning a firearm (denies you rights the government isn't supposed to be able to deny)? It would be the law and the prosecutor at fault in this case. I strongly doubt that when that law was written they intended it to be used on college students and snowballs. I strongly doubt that when that law was written they intended it to be used on college students and snowballs. Pretty sure I said the law needs to be re-written. Even so, what they did is against the law. The big issue is an occupied vehicle, if it was moving just the act of throwing something can cause the driver to flinch and possibly cause an accident. Bigger picture than just throwing a snowball. What does being a college student have to do with the law?
NavyDave
Their mug shots have an Eco Terrorist look about them. Hopefully the 2 members from the Generation of Twits will avoid making similar mistakes in the future after this is probably reduced to them shoveling driveways. Dan T.
It says they threw snowshovels full of snow onto the windshields of a snow plow and an undercover cop car. Not smart at all, but a felony charge is serious overkill. One of the kids is a point guard on the JMU basketball team. Edit: And Navy Dave, you forgot to work "liberal" into your post. You're slipping. But way to slur a whole generation of young people.

MSJHWT
Felony charges are a bit overkill, but an arrest and a misdemeanor sound about right. It's flat out unsafe to throw anything at moving vehicles.

This is the kind of thing that should result in a fine or some community service with a minor ding on your record in the form of a misdemeanor. Instead they are facing the loss of "inalienable rights" for throwing snowballs... that's just absurd. The "felony" charge should be reserved for THE MOST SERIOUS of all possible infractions. Violent crimes and serious criminal activity... not youthful mischief.

If it indeed was the latter, felony charges are appropriate. They are lucky no one was seriously injured or killed.

Madison Redskin
Even if the snowballs were missiles under Virginia law, the prosecutor needs to be canned. Someone that charges kids with felonies for throwing snowballs lacks discretion and common sense. The law is fine; it's the prosecutor that is a total dip ****. It is a charge, not a conviction. Besides they are inocent unti proven otherwise right? hehehe
Dan T.
Devon Lane dead-ends into an apartment complex. So it's not like they were throwing at speeding cars on an Interstate. Stupid hijinks, yes. But again, felony charges seem like overkill for this.
