If we were to take one of the "franchise qb's" at 4th overall, who would you like us to draft and why? Consider everything from injury risk to ability to off-the-field; you are Shanny and the Redskins are on the clock.

So please, without further ado! Thoughts?

I'm against taking a QB at 4 but if i had to take a QB at 4.

I would be happy with either one because their both good prospects with different skill sets.

I would take Claussen only because he's played under, imo, more difficult cirmstances at ND. When Claussen 1st became the QB the OL in front of him was young and inexperienced and he had to take his fair share of lumps. Second, although ND is facing a down year being the QB for ND puts him under a good amount of scrutiny which might make him a little more prepared for the NFL. And he played in a more traditional offense taking most of his snaps under center.

I also remember big Mike form Mike and Mike saying that he ran into Mike Shanahan at a ND game this season. Every since then i've thought that Claussen was on Mike S radar. But, by the same token he could have went to the game and saw something he didn't like.

Long story short i would take Claussen

Both are projects.

Saw alot of Clausen at Notre Dame and he wasn't as good as Brady "I can't beat out Derek Anderson" Quinn.

Bradford has already been injured and wasn't that spectacular to begin with.

I'm with the draft Big Ten, midwest quarterbacks.

Isn't there a Ron Boethlisberger from South Indiana Poly Tech?

Clausen played in a pro offense under a coach who proved he can run a legit offense in the NFL. Clausen has a huge arm and played through hell at ND. I'll take Clausen.

+1

I think he is the real deal. Plus I think he can start rite away. Although that isn't something I recommend week 1. I would keep Jason unless another team is willing to sign him and commensate us.

I like Bradford, but he isn't as mobile, didn't read defenses like Clausen did and played behind a GREAT oline most of his career.

Where as Clausen played behind a sorry oline all 3 years and still played great

Bradford, mainly because if his accuracy.

If it was just his accuracy, we have Colt Brennan, but in my opinion it is more than that (As far as my decision making goes). In Bradford, you can consistently see him reading the field and making great choices, as well as something from nothing, which is key in today's modern day pass first type offenses. I just see Bradford as a leader, who can make things happen. Yes, he was injured, but so have a bunch of Athletes who have come back to do great things: Favre, Brady, Brees, etc.

Honestly, I have not always been a Bradford guy, but the more I saw the more I have liked him. Let Suh drop to us and I would be happy, but I don't think getting Suh would fix anything for us. Rather, use him as a bargaining chip to get more picks, get a QB AND fix our Offensive Line.

Well then by that logic, Russell Okung is probably the next Robert Gallery. Boy that sure got us far!

The OP called for rating one QB over the other... it's not an open discussion. There is plenty of reasoning as to why draft a QB over a LT and VICE VERSA, but that's not what this thread is for, so there's no point in doing it.

Actually I'd say Okung is the next Mike Gandy.

And is "Clausen is the next Heath Shuler" any less productive than "Clausen is the next Drew Brees?"

If anything, the guy comparing him to Heath Shuler is closer to the mark.

Honestly, if anyone truly followed NCAA football this year, and actually watched Clausen play, there is not much to NOT like. Yes, he indeed had an OUTSTANDING WR in Tate, but when it came down to making the big plays in the 4th Q, Clausen was absolute clutch. Since Sam went down for the season, I grew on Clausen. He kind of reminds me of Philip Rivers, with that firey swag, but we all need to realize he's extremely young. Maturity will hit him faster than we think. And that jersey shore hair cut, will turn into a jarhead haircut. To the point I'm trying to make....

If we can somehow trade the 4th into the 10-14 spot. I think we can pick up Clausen, and some quality OLine in this draft.

Ey! Are you... talkin' to me? Are you talkin' to me?!

I didn't say he was Brees lol

I asked the question, then said I preferred Clausen of the two.

PS--Who do YOU want? I'd like to hear after your evaluations of Clausen and Okung...

Agree with u about Clausen.

This is a nice sernario for us

Trade Carlos Rogers to Detroit Lions for a 3rd round pick (66th overall) and a 6th round pick (162nd overall)

Possible Bills Trade

In the context of this thread, I would take Bradford.

I think Clausen will without a doubt be a starting and effective QB in the draft. But Bradford has the higher ceiling.

Why is Jimmy a douche, explain this to me

Because of his hair.

Ignore the fact that he's already made the transition of playing under a spotlight miles and miles away from home. Look over the fact that he's not only been in a pro-style offense his entire collegiate career, but he's also been tutored by a pro director since his freshman year in high school.

Thank you

People who say that have nothing to back it up, besides his haircut, him getting punched, his confidence

i wouldn't mind either one, but i definitely prefer Clausen over Bradford

Clausen has experience in a pro-style & read defenses, not to say that bradford can't do it, but its definitely not a given with him.

awhile back i read a statistic that Bradford's accuracy drops tremendously when he has to rely on anyone other than his 1st option, that concerns me
