MGutta
After seeing roughly 30 mock drafts thus far, I've come to the understanding that we are going to select either Jimmy Clausen, Sam Bradford or Russell Okung (assuming we stay at the #4 slot). New regimes generally mean a new quarterback, and due to it being the obviously more exciting (note that I didn't say important!) position than tackle, let's discuss the main options. If we were to take one of the "franchise qb's" at 4th overall, who would you like us to draft and why? Consider everything from injury risk to ability to off-the-field; you are Shanny and the Redskins are on the clock. I, myself, have been hung up on this for over a month now, but my present thinking right now is Clausen. While not as accurate as Bradford, I like his ability to get the ball out quick and stretch the field. The pro-style experience helps, as does superior mobility. Again, this is not a: Anti-JC thread QB vs LT thread Free Agent thread Colt Brennan thread So please, without further ado! Thoughts?
NewCliche21
Not to rain on your parade, as this isn't a stupid thread, but there are a ton of threads already discussing this. Just because it's not on the first page doesn't mean that it didn't happen. Often it means that the discussion died, but the thread is still there. Oh yeah, I've seen a million, but I've never seen a poll with strictly Jimmy vs Sam. I want numbers moreso than pictures of square pegs in round holes and smily faces... SB is over.... time for Skins football ... you can't have too many threads about dumping Campbell and drafting a franchise QB ... nothing is as important ... I want Clausen because he is the next Drew Brees ... what more do you need or want?

KyleVA
Clausen > Bradford As far as quarterbacking goes at least. Bradford consistently had an elite supporting cast around him. Clausen is going to be good, very good.

emor09
Clausen played in a pro offense under a coach who proved he can run a legit offense in the NFL. Clausen has a huge arm and played through hell at ND. I'll take Clausen.

MGutta
He's probably the next Heath Shuler:puke: Well then by that logic, Russell Okung is probably the next Robert Gallery. Boy that sure got us far! The OP called for rating one QB over the other... it's not an open discussion. There is plenty of reasoning as to why draft a QB over a LT and VICE VERSA, but that's not what this thread is for, so there's no point in doing it. REDSKINZ-RIDEORDIE
SB is over.... time for Skins football...... Yeah, first and foremost, big applause for this statement. As far as Clausen vs Bradford.....IDK....I gotta wait until the combines to get a better idea.
Darrell Green Fan
Claussen comes from a pro set so he is more ready to step in. While Bradford is a bigger risk due to the spread you just can't teach his accuracy and quick release. So for me I go with the guy who I IMO has the bigger upside. Bradford played under center some at Oklahoma. Not as much as Clausen but he is familiar with it.

You are the original poster. I'm going to nickname you The Rock. I like Bradford over Clausen, but his injuries trouble me a little bit. Of course, Favre had surgery on his shoulder at age 39, turned 40 and had one of the best seasons statistically. Gotta love modern day medicine/technology. I worry about our o-line though and don't want to see us take a QB at #4 for them only to get beat into the dirt, ala Patrick Ramsey. As long as he has a chance to truly develop behind another QB his first year (not necessarily Campbell), then I'm all for it.

I've only seen Pro-Clausen and Anti-QB... Because the argument has been beaten to death. I wasn't being an ass in my first post; this really is why it's best to just search for this kind of thing. It's been talked about a lot and sometimes people just get tired of repeating themselves (unless it's the Campbell debate, those posters cannot be satiated). Find an old thread and bump it. texasthunder
If I had to choose, I would pick Clausen, he played in a Pro=style scheme, and played under some NFL coaching, But I am in the "trading down tribe", and would be looking at someone like Lefevour in later rounds. I keep hearing that he played in a pro-style scheme and that being the reason to take him over Bradford. No doubt that helps, but how many QBs didn't play under a former NFL coordinator or pro-style system only to succeed at the NFL level? The majority of them. I would pick talent first, which imo is Bradford and let one of the greatest offensive minds (Shanny) groom him. Again, his shoulder concerns me a bit.
