ljs
wow, ljs, when I saw your 2-page multi-quote, I thought I was reading a techboy post in a Religion thread, and thought I accidentally clicked on the wrong thread haha, I had to catch up... I'm sorry, but I don't believe you. If someone in management said, in a conference behind closed doors, that a bad idea for the company was "effing retarded," there is no chance that they would be fired for it. At most, someone would say: "Hey Jack, we don't use that word any more." If someone said anything at all. Of course, it would be different if it was a speech or a public statement on behalf of the company or something. But that isn't what happened here. I have heard scores of people use that word. I have heard a judge use it. No one gets fired for it. Maybe someday, but not now. Sorry if you don't believe me, but I have first hand knowledge at my former workplace. It was written in our corp policy that cursing in the building was cause for termination. I witnessed fellow employees fired, as well as firing one of my own for cursing at work- F word specifically. Then, in context to "retarded"- it is along the lines of offensive to a minority group. The company had numerous physically handicap employees, wheelchairs and such. We also had a young guy with Autism and I know that at least 3 people were fired for making comments/neg words toward his disability. Not saying I totally agree with every situation, but I'm not lying- its my experience. No big deal to me, but let it be known... if anyone famous ever says anything about a red-headed step child I am going to clean up.~Cha CHING like South Parks "Ginger" usage? Context is important. My bosses wife (lesbians) called me a fag the other day, because I was drinking tea and clipping coupons. I call my gay Dad a fag, every time he talks about how "masculine" he is at the gym. Something about that word is just so, um, gay. agreed-

Chicken Fried
Bull****. She doesn't care about what's right. She's only interested in scoring political points ... "Death panels" for ****s sake. What an eloquently stated argument. She doesn't care what's right because...? Oh, I guess it's because she's Republican and doesn't back down to slime like Rahm. It's so typical of liberals like you to be jealous over a Republican that has backbone because NOBODY in the Democratic party has backbone. Just look at Obama. He's a puppet who does whatever his advisors tell him. It's pretty sad to watch how things play out with him because he's so cowardly. The Republicans have just about nobody to look up to who has nerve, but we do have Palin, and I'm proud to say I love that woman and what she believes in. = I hope you get this. If not, you don't pay attention to the lives of YOUR OWN candidates.

ljs
Does this mean that every government employee who drops the f-bomb should be fired? Cus tbhe military would cease exist ... somehow this turned into a "What about the F word-" that's not the topic and not sure anyone said that no gov't official should be fired over it..especially the military- not to mention Rahm is in a way dif spot than our troops fighting terrorists. Yeah. I've only read about this here, don't watch any media at the moment, but the OP's article is a bit confusing, it asserts "Obama staffer Rahm Emanuel's penchant for profanity has drawn the ire of Sarah Palin". Yet she seems only concerned with "retarded", which I assume isn't characterized as profanity. The F-bomb doesn't seem an issue despite the confusing way the article presents Palin's stance. AsburySkinsFan
This isn't pc'ism, this is a leader of our country, offending hundreds of thousands of people. Howard Stern saying it is one thing, someone that is suppose to be a respectable pillar in our communities is another. You haven't met many politicians have you? TheDoyler23
Probably not a wise or intelligent thing to say. I was more irritated when Obama said he bowled like he was in the Special Olympics. That was just a terrible thing to stay.

No, honestly I wouldn't seriously, this is so stupid that it doesn't even rank on my offended scale. Politicians are who they are, they say some of the most crass and awful things that would never be dared aired on the evening news. These people are not boy scouts they just want you to think they are.

So where would you be when the other side then called them a bunch of namby pamby fags for getting their feelings hurt over a stupid comment? What a circle jerk. Literally. I'm just glad I have safety goggles for all the bull**** that gets slung around these threads. ~Bang PS, no offense to all the namby pamby fags who may have been offended. Hooper
I'm just glad Sarah Palin is finally acting like a grown-up. By taking on the important issues like this, she is showing she should definitely get the GOP nom in 2012.

Here is just another example of liberal bias...... Corcaigh
Well I went to Palin's Facebook page and near her comment about Emanuel she is promoting a piece by Glenn Beck which ties genocide and Stalinism to the "roots of the progressive movement in our country". Nice.
zoony
A couple things on this one. I haven't read the entire thread so some of this might have been covered -First, I'm guilty of using the word "retarded" much more than I should in conversation. It is not an appropriate word. The Golden Retriever is 100% correct on that. -Our White House COS says "****ing retarded" and it's "retarded" that has people saying he's being inappropriate. That's a sign of the times right there -Should he be fired? Absolutely not. That is an outrageous position to take. He should publicly apologize however and he should get a stern talking to. -Kind of embarassing that our senior political advisors behave this way
