Bonez3
I got to see a couple games this year for Den. Notably the Philly game where Celek ultimately ran away from him in open field. There seems no doubt he lost his speed. Question is: Is Champ on the decline and only left with his reputation? Players that good will always squeeze out a couple more mediocre years on shear talent. But, is he ultimately an avg.player at this point. Thus, on his way out.?. SORRY, WANTED THIS IN THE 'AROUND THE NFL' FORUM. PLEASE MOVE
Snagletooth
Didn't see enough Denver games. But I did watch them against the Colts and they slowed down Manning, so I didn't get the impression Champ had lost a step.
MadMonkey
Haven't watched Roland enough to really care enough to see if his skills eroded, but I'm sure he's lost a step or two by now.
Dondrae474
I remember hearing a few commentators say that QB's were not throwing away from Champ as much as they used to. He has definitely lost a step but is still an okay CB.
SonnyJ
Except for a couple of seasons, he has been overrated. Good cover guy, but wouldn't make other teams pay for throwing at him. I'm sure after 11 seasons that the mileage is wearing on him.
Stadium-Armory
I live in CO, and watched every Donkey game this year. He's not as imposing as he used to be, but he would start for the Skins. Still has at least 2 more years left in him, and this town loves the guy.
Perky72
Plenty of marginal or poor CBs would love to be as "finished" as he currently is.

A couple of seasons? 10 Pro Bowls How many corners are we sending to even one Pro Bowl? How many Pro Bowls has Portis made?
StillUnknown
he's not finished, he's just not in that elite group of corners anymore after a decade of greatness, falloff is to be expected
bedlamVR
A couple of seasons?10 Pro Bowls How many corners are we sending to even one Pro Bowl? How many Pro Bowls has Portis made? The PRO BOWL is a joke . Isn't it you always saying the only thing the matters is wins and losses and with Bailey the Broncos have had just as much success in the playoffs as we have . The voting in the Probowl always preferentially treats players from some teams than others, I mean really are Andre Gourde and Lenord Davis really better than the likes of Russ Grimm and Joe Jacoby and Jeff Bostic ? Because bothe Gourde and Davis have more probowls invites than any of the HOGs got . Bailey has been living off his rep for years .
McD5
The PRO BOWL is a joke The Pro Bowl is always a joke until someone from our team makes it. Then it is a huge thread, with lots of congratulatory comments. I couldn't care less about the Pro Bowl. I was just taken back by someone who said that Champ only had a few good seasons. 10 Pro Bowls? Let's say only 6 or 7 of them are legit. That is a pretty good number of seasons in my opinion. Or all the Redskin fans who complain about calls going against us... but when the refs make a bad call against the other team I don't see nearly as many people complaining about the poor officiating. BeerMuscles
A couple of seasons?10 Pro Bowls How many corners are we sending to even one Pro Bowl? How many Pro Bowls has Portis made? Pro Bowls mean nothing. Based purely off reputation. Kyle vanden Bosch made the probowl this year...he had like 3 sacks I believe. He made the probowl purely based of his reputation made last year... Champ going to the pro bowl 10 times is a freaking joke. Every time I watched the Broncos Champ always got burned. He is one of the most overrated players of this decade. DieHardSkins88
kyle vandenbosch is going as like a 3rd or 4th alternate though i believe
Warhead36
If he went by his real name Roland he'd have only made about half of those Pro Bowls. Good Corner, but other than that one year he had like 10 INTs he's fairly overrated in terms of his overall value as a football player.
darklight1216
He's not as good as he used to be, but he's definetely serviceable.
[[ghost]]
David Garrard is a Pro Bowl QB. The Pro Bowl is as good an indicator of talent and production as the 40 yard dash is an indicator of QB Accuracy..
BeerMuscles
Overall, I think the Skins got the better end of the trade. We got CP who had some good years under Gibbs (I miss him) and we replaced Champ with Shawn Springs, which was a great move. I believe Springs was better for us than Champ ever was. Our defense was better when we got Springs (GG had an impact on that too).

Laxpunk2006
Redskins also gave up a 2nd round pick which is pretty valuable. Luckily Denver saved us some embaressment by wasting it on Tatum "I accidently took your luggage" Bell.

Jeff in D.C.
He's not what he once was and he's definitely lost a step, and maybe it's just me but I've been seeing him get burned on a regular basis in Denver ever since he got there. He was pretty good here so I think the lousy DC's he's played for in Denver his first few years there might have had something to do with his poor play at times. I always wished we had gotten someone other than Cancer Portis for him and NOT had to give up a 2nd round pick. Shanny pretty much raped Gibbs there.
