MELBOURNE, Australia -- Roger Federer and other tennis stars raised more than $185,000 to benefit Haiti earthquake victims by holding a fundraising match on the eve of the Australian Open.

Federer helped organize the event Sunday dubbed "Hit for Haiti."

The 15-time Grand Slam winner was joined at Rod Laver Arena by reigning Australian Open champions Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams, 2008 winner Novak Djokovic, Andy Roddick, U.S. Open women's champion Kim Clijsters and Australians Lleyton Hewitt and Samantha Stosur.

The admission price was about $10 and the 15,000-seat stadium filled to capacity for the exhibition. All the players wore microphones on the court, adding to the entertainment.

who are your picks to win?

I saw something about people getting kicked out for smuggling flares onto the grounds and causing some kind of ruckus.

The 'travelling circus' recruit the local homies, and as such, makes it look like the root of the violence comes from Melbourne, whereas it's the imports, those here for the tennis, who cause the problems.

Not only do they start the moment they get to the tennis centre, they abuse/assault people in the streets, on the concourses, and worst of all, in the stands where innocent people have been caught up in the BS.

If it were up to me and I caught anyone with a flare, for example, I would lock them up for the duration of the tournament, then escort them directly to the airport. Depending on what else they had on them, immediate deportation could be the better option (and cheaper too!).
