this seems to be a good convo going on in here... we cant do anything "Formal" with Zimmer until next week , Just the way his contract is set up , and people are blocking us from talking to some coaches ;) plus we know the skins always do it the right way :D

Hey Stranger, thanks for the update.

Gotta make sure we don't step on anyone's toes before we cut off their leg. :)

Thanks for the info!

Do we really want this guy?

The Jets one dimensional offense is starting to have their way again, for the second week straight.

Yeah we do. Look at who the Bengals have on their defense ... a group of kind of OK players. Zimmer tends to scheme it up well and play to his players talents while also attacking the ball ... you know the thing that Blache didn't like to do.

Zimmer has some pretty good players to work with. I know it's the Bungals and many people don't watch them. They have two great corners and some pretty good LB's and two above avg safety's but nothing special. They aren't as bad as they seemed the past two weeks but not as good as advertised during the season because the offense was garbage (sound familiar?) so they were on the field a lot the past few weeks. R. Mauluga (sp?) and K. Rivers are going to be studs.

#1. AH never said he did not want to work in a 3-4 defense. If he did please post it. But I know you won't find it.

#2. The crappy post earlier trying to defend this statement was AH saying he likes what we do cause it's similar to what he did in Tenn. He never says "I don't want to play in a 3-4" or even eludes to it.

#3. AH would be a perfect NT. We have Orakpo as a DE. Jarmin as a DE. Carter as a DE. We might have to pick up another NT though cause I think AH get gassed and would need to come out periodically so someone would have to fill in to give him a break. Or...play two NT's when we need a jumbo package or a good rush.

#4. We most likely will have to change up the whole front D-line anyway. Daniels, Griffin, and Whynn are all old. Time to bring in youth to replace them anyway. People we have that are young:

Skolnitsky DE

Orakpo LB/DE

A.Montgomery DT

Jarmin DE

R.Jackson DE

Haynesworth DT (is getting old)

Carter DE (will last a few more)

Alexander DT

So we are not too bad off if the young ones finally step up or are given a chance to step up. We might need a NT and look for LB's.

I could've swore i remembered him saying that but even if he didn't, it doesn't change the fact that he wouldn't fit into a 3-4.

Please explain to me how he would be a perfect NT. Orakpo as DE? are u kidding me? he's a OLB in that system. Carter? he failed in san fan with a younger body. why should he succeed suddenly here. even if he does, still a OLB not a DE. Jarmon i can see working out if he gains weight. Oh and we'd need couple more new LBs as well. Rocky is a 4-3 LB. I used to be a miami fan so ive seen almost every game of his, and he does not look like a 3-4 for me.

Well you can forget about Wade now.

And I'm not sure about the comment from the OP: "Looks like no one will get him". The Bengals will simply offer him a contract extension, and that's not the least bit surprising - we all knew that would happen. He might stay, he might leave, depending on a number of different factors...one of which HAS to be financial compensation. I like our chances. ;)

The writer of that article has no more idea than we do as to what Zimmer will do.

Its one game. You can't bury a guys entire lifes work for one game. He was great as the Cowboys DC, and worked wonders in Cincy. Quick, name two Bengals defensive starters. Most people can't...

This. He took a putrud Bengals defense and, in a very brief period of time, turned it into a high quality one. Are they elite? No. But they are definitely good and considering the talent they have and how bad they had been, that is quitte an accomplishment.

We don't need another all star coaching staff that's going to leave when the first head coaching job opens up.

This is a regime change, start it with the best guys in that you can get for the top jobs and let them work with the younger coaches that will come in. The younger guys develop to become our own "gene pool" of coaches.

If that is not enough then I suspect that other coaches will be available if someone leaves.

It's been this way for a long time and the success of any coachng regime includes their ability to find good replacements.

Redskins fans have gotten to the point where they are afraid of:

Coaches or players who were let go from their team for any reason (RETREADS)

Free agents who aren't young, cheap, and highly regarded

High draft picks (TRADE DOWN RAWR)

Hopefully this attitude will change under the new regime.
