Enter Apotheosis
That would be a good trade for us, but something tells me they wouldn't go for it.Cribbs is very young, while Portis isn't young in playing years left (due to his position). Cribbs is 26 and return specialists typically have the shortest effective lifespan of all players in the NFL. Most see huge drop-offs in production by age 28. Sometimes this comes with increases in production elsewhere... but rarely is it an even trade. See: Dante Hall, Antwaan Randle El, and Devin Hester. A Skinhead in Saints Land
Does anyone honestly think we are gonna pursue Cribbs? You guys have been dancing with Mr. Brownstone.
L30L
This is a clear example of how our own fanbase can hurt the franchise at times. This is a move that belongs in the last decade.

J-Rad
I can't believe there is this much excitement about a kick returner. Sorry, but when was the last time a KR made a team competitive? Case in point - Cribbs played for the BROWNS this year, not exactly a playoff caliber team. Bring him here and trade away one of our best players for him and we'll be exactly the same in 2010 - not exactly a playoff caliber team.
Brianbien83
Yeah, this would be silly. Cribbs will flame out in a year or two, and then whatever team he is traded to will be on the hook for paying this guy too much money for the little production he provides. Redskins Diehard
Exactly, and just because he is successful in CLE doesn't mean he would be here.Remember Chad Morton? Don't even have to go back to Chad Morton. ARE is a good example as well.

S.T.real,lights,out
I thinks it's going to take way too much to get him here. And for that fact alone i say no. We need all the picks we can get. Unless they want one of our older players for him. lol
LaRonDontLikeUgly
call me crazy but.........moss for cribbs... Moss will be 31 by the start of next season... if Holmgren won't sign an explosive 26 yr old in his prime, he probably doesn't want Moss who only has a few more seasons in front of him. Plus, I think Moss is worth keeping at this point. If he ever moves to slot in a Wes Welker-type role, he will SHRED.
Hail Gibbs
There is a definite need for a KR/PR upgrade, and Cribbs is a beast, but I think don't think it is smart to trade for players when their value is at an all time high. As dangerous as Cribbs is and has been over the past couple seasons, I think he will have a hard time repeating what he did this season. I realize if we got even half of Cribbs production from this past season it would be a major upgrade over what was in place, problem is his value would be set based off his record breaking season. D-Day
If he is demanding a trade then his value falls. He is a return specialist which puts his value at a 3rd in my book at the most. If they plan on cutting some players offer them in a trade instead. If cleveland is stuck, which they might be, they just may bite. If they decided to trade Cooley then it is Chris and at least a 2nd in return. I would personally try for Randel El and let them pick another player or a late day 2 pick at the most. Dirty#30
Gentleman gentleman... remember that little guy fast as lightning named ANTHONY ALDRIDGE? You know the guy we just signed to a Futures Contract. Shanahan absolutely loves this guys speed and vision. No Joshua Cribbs, yes he's talented but lets let Shanhan and Allen do their thing. Tempting yes, but no.

scruffylookin
He wants a new contract and is demanding a trade? Doesn't that make him a "me first" player and not a team player? We don't want those kind of guys on our team!!! Just trying to be consistent with the lemmings.
surfersvida
As good as Josh Cribbs is, you would need to look a little deeper before considering giving up much for him. After all, there is a reason that Holmgren is so-called "lowballing" him. In 2009, a year in which he was viewed as dynamic and the best player on the Browns (seriously, that isn't that hard to do...), he only had 1 receiving touchdown. Of course his impact is in the return game, right? Correct, where he had 1 punt return touchdown and 3 kick return touchdowns. And we saw him rush a little bit, too. For around 300 yards and 1 touch. All in all he had a pretty good year, but because (and this is just my opinion..) we see him on ESPN and see his highlights all the time, especially near the end of the season, we think he is some superspectacular player. He can have an impact, but it's really not THAT big of one, and he isn't worth giving up much of anything for, unless you get some really good deal. Fact of the matter is if the BROWNS aren't willing to pay more than 1.4 million for him, why would we give up Cooley, Davis, a draft pick, or anything for a guy that only is going to give you MAYBE 6 touchdowns a year if he has a career year. Add 2 fumbles in his 20 receptions as a WR and Cribbs really isn't all he's cracked up to be. Not trying to take away from his abilities, just saying he might not be all his agent wants him to be. VaSkinsNut
We could have had Cribbs for free during the season. No reason to open the wallet or trade picks for a kick returner. We've overspent and been down that road with Randle El.
