Rotoworld: Shanahan expected to retain Campbell

I love the Caps but this post is just sad.

You hate a guy so much you have a boycott against a team because he plays for them?

Not to mention a guy who by all accounts is as classy as Campbell is?

Give me a break.

That is you opinion and I have mine. I also spend my money where I want to.

When 2008 started and they didn't even have an open comp for QB after the end of 2007 it pissed me off. The word was also out that the reason Gregg didn't get the HC job was because he wanted to play Todd instead of Jason. My only recourse was to let the owner know I wasn't happy and I told him multiple times. The only way other then writing it down was not to give Dan anymore of my money. I was only going to a couple games a year anyway but with two teenagers we had a lot of clothing, wall swag etc. so I stopped buying anything with Redskins on it. Instead we went to Caps games (5 so far) and my son's room looks like Ovie lives in it. Actually he kind of does, my son has a full sized Fathead of Ovie :)

I hate doing it because I LOVE the Redskins but also follow through on what I start so the boycott will continue until Jason is dumped or sat down.

Again my personal opinion and protest.

Hey BLC, a litt OT, but I was wonderin if you could answer a question. Your dis-tatse and distrust in JC is well documented and you have made it pretty clear that you would probably rather have me play QB than JC next season...

That being said, thinking of salary ramifications and the propensity for first round QB busts, are you really enamored with any of th QB's from this draft class? Especially to nab on a 4.

They all seem kind of weak to me and have been like that all season... IMO anyways. What say you?

everything ive read/seen/heard about bradford, i like. hes accurate and considered very "sharp" mentally, which i think gets overlooked a lot in the NFL in the draft. its always about arm strength, how fast they can run, footwork, etc. i want a smart QB, a dude that knows whats going on before it happens, and i think that goes a long way, especially in a quick think offense like shanny runs.

if he or any other QB busts, they bust. we move on, we pay them, and thats that. it happens.

but we must take a shot now on getting a QB. this might be the last time we draft this high and we have to take advantage of it. if we have so many holes to fill for the next few years, we cant risk finishing 6-10 or 7-9 next year, end up with the 14th pick, then have to trade picks to move down to get our guy at QB.

weve got the 4th. we can take bradford or claussen, one of them will be there. we gotta take a shot.

If Campbell is brought back it will be so he takes the hits while the line is upgraded and jells. Does anybody really think that Shanahan is going to put the #4 in the draft behind our o-line? Finally, taking a QB at #4 should tell you all you need to know about Shanahan's thoughts on Campbell.

You'd think so, anyway lol...we have some fans though that say if JC is still even living in DC they'll stop following the team lol :)

Gotta ask and God forbid it happens?

OL drafted #4 overall, a Project QB is drafted 3rd or 4th round next year, and JC gets us to the playoffs against Dallas and wins at Dallas.

Boycott still going?

weve heard multiple intelligent NFL people say that. youre just not listening.

didnt steve young slam campbell?

didnt gruden slam campbell?

collinsworth ripped him apart on monday night.

rodney harrison said hes a backup.

exactly who are "intelligent NFL" people? are those just the guys that sugar coat how much of a failure he is?

Steve Young was critical but also commented on having no line.

I don't recall Gruden slamming Campbell - do you have any quotes?

Hard not to rip the whole team apart after that Monday Night game against the Giants - although he commented on the awful offensive line and lack of time moreso than Campbell.

Harrison was quickly disagreed with Dungy - who I trust to analyze a team more than Harrison.

With that said - show me where analysts have said he was one of the biggest problems with the team. I've heard offensive line (x10), coaching, organizational structure, discipline, and much more discussed but I've never heard one analyst say "Jason Campbell is one of the biggest problems with this football team."

If that exact thing happens yes I will drop it but I am not buying a JC jersey ok? ;)

Bradford has been called smart, but two things many people have said is by going out of shotgun he rarely has to read the defense like he would dropping back, and that in 2008 he went into a lot of plays with Bob Stoops directing him to a certain player that play instead of having to do reads. Now as that season went on he was given more leash, but I rather have a guy like Clausen or a 2nd rounder and beyond.

I've asked you to provide a link or source for this information for the past 4 months at least but you've never done it. You continually push this blatantly false information and act like noone takes notice.

It's not true and noone ever quoted someone saying that or reported it except for speculation on this board.

Just an outside perspective:

Jason Campbell will likely never be a QB who will take you deep in the playoffs. After 5 years in the league, 3.5 as a starter, you would know by now. However, since he'll be a RFA, no one will give up draft choices for him, and the best decision will be to retain him. Why if he's not the answer, because if you guys draft a QB, that player won't be ready to start from day 1. Not unless you want them to get killed (Matt Stafford anyone?)

As far as to draft a QB or not, look at this list of QBs drafted in rd 2 since the 96' draft.

Tony Banks, Jake Plummer, Charlie Batch, Shaun King, Drew Brees, Quincy Carter, Marques Tuiasosopo, Kellen Clemons, Tavaris Jackson, Kevin Kolb, John Beck, Drew Stanton, Brian Brohm, Chad Henne, Pat White

What does this say, if you don't take a QB in rd 1, you have just a good a chance picking him in rd 3 or later than in rd 2. So assuming there's no labor stopage in 2011, one of two things is gonna happen for Jason Campbell next year. He'll a.) play poorly, which means you guys won't have anyone ready to step in, or when he leaves for a fresh start b.) He'll play well and will be an UFA, which means you'll overpay for a mediocre QB or he'll probably leave.

This is why you guys almost have to draft a QB at #4. Linemen don't take nearly as long to develop so in 2011, you guys can throw out some high draft picks along the o-line with Bradford/Clausen behind center.

Its not surprising. When Shanahan drafted Cutler, he stayed on the bench behind Jake Plummer till the the 13th week.

It could be the same senario if in fact Mike S. does keep JC.

But as for the Rotoworld report, I would agree with Soup, I cant imagine that Mike S. has had time to even read the post season reports by the coaches, much less make a decission.

I would bet tho, that he has seen every game tape on our team, prior to coming here.

Does Bradford work from the shotgun alot?...I've never really watched him play other than on youtube highlight videos lol...but the guy is ALWAYS in shotgun.

One report I read said over 90% of his Snaps were from the Shotgun, and the couple games I have gone back and watched and tried to chart it seems in the high 80 percentile

I don't care if you believe me, really I don't. It's my choice and mine alone.

The Browns would love to have a QB that can run, especially now that MH is in town. And JC does have a much better QB rating. And Cleveland does have some attractive draft picks to trade.

Just thinking out loud...

Campebell and Portis for Quinn and a 2010 3rd Rounder and a 2011 4th rounder

Message board speculation is as good as carved-in-stone fact if it helps support your conspiracy theories lol
