joe
If you have read either thread today, from 2 of our biggest "stars" on offense, there is one common conclusion you can come up with.Jason Campbell is not a leader. You could not be more wrong. Jason Campbell showed tremendous leadership in the comments he made in response to Portis.

Doesn't make him a better leader on the field and that is what matters.
joe
Doesn't make him a better leader on the field and that is what matters. Leadership is leadership, off or on the field. Campbell has proven to me that he has it throughout this very trying season.

Totally disagree. He is nothing of a leader ON the field.
PorkSkins
It is hard to soar like an eagle when you are working with a bunch of turkeys. I give JC the benefit of the doubt. It had to be difficult trying to step up and be a leader on the field when one of your teammates was text messaging the owner. That's called undermining, backstabbing, and what corporate people now call harrassment. I'll say it again: JC has played to the best of his abilities given the circumstances. The end results on the field may not have been good enough but don't question the man's character.
Gamebreaker
I don't even understand how this thread became so long... These are Portis' comments? Did I miss something new about Portis that we never knew? Please people, consider the source. This dude can't be the final word on leadership when he doesn't have a clue what it's about. He didn't practice, he superceded his head coach's authority, threw numerous players under the bus DURING multiple seasons, and NOW he wants to redefine what leadership is? Find me an ACTUAL leader, who says Jason doesn't have leadership and I'll consider the logic. Jason may not be one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but he IS a leader. Some people may not like "leadership by example", but it generally doesn't affect the selfish, self-glamourizing types who are more concerned with drawing attention to themselves than winning. Typically, those types are always cast-off to other teams....hmm, kind of like what Shanahan did to Portis the first time around. I've watched Jason get upset at players in games, it doesn't happen often, yet you also don't want the guys you play with to tune your voice out. As bad as they were all season, if he yelled everytime Santana dropped a pass, or Portis missed a hole, or Heyer got punked yet again, or when Devin and Malcolm ran the wrong route, he would be hoarse and the players wouldn't listen anymore. By the way, find me some type of definition of leadership that absolutely has to have someone screaming in your face all the time?
DexterSackMachine
If being a leader is publicly running down your coach, not practicing, missing half the season with concussion, and telling anyone that will listen you could do better in other systems with better offensive lines, then Portis is your guy. There are different types of leaders, not everyone is vocal, but JC has led by a great example of doing his job under harsh circumstances. His play has been average, but he has the respect of his fellow players, which is the mark of a true leader.
