MVille_Skins
Like I've said before. P90X definitely looks like it works, but I'm guessing the majority of the people that buy it DO NOT stick with it. Going to the gym motivates me more than working out at home. Dito. I've never really tired a home workout, but I feel like I would give up much easier if I was by myself. At a gym you're kinda in that environment where everyone is working out and it kinda gives you motivation to not give up and push yourself harder. Plus you gotta impress the females (or males if your a women)
CallMeGreen
Almost finished Week 2. I am seriously out of shape and was moving like a rusty Tinman for the first few days. Couldn't pass the pre-test, but started the program anyway and am glad I did. I don't see any visible results yet, but am starting to feel it. The tough thing for me, other than trying to eat responsibly, is trying to find an hour+ for the workout everyday. Ran out of time last night and almost bailed, but worked out at 10:00pm anyway. My wife doubts I'll stick it out, but doesn't realize that's half my motivation to continue.
sacase
I made it through the first 5 weeks of the program then moved to Cali, once I get settled in out here, I will get back at it. I really enjoyed this program. I did some stuff with weight and some with bands. Unless you are already a monster I wouldn't use anything over 20lbs for most of the exercises. My GF was doing it with me and she saw some real results in her back and arms. I am sure if we actually stuck to the diet we would have seen more results. LOL I got noticably stronger with one. One thing I did notice was my cardio didn't really increase much...
TheLongshot
I was wondering if there was something I could mix in with my running (3 miles every other day) that I could use to improve my shape. To be honest, in recent years I've been really struggling with it since I seem to have developed exercise-induced asthma which I haven't found a way to completely control it. I was looking into P90X, but I'm not really interested in doing it full time. Just something to fill in the gaps, especially when I can't run. dreamshatterer
I believe it was intended for people who are somewhat in shape already. I was good for the 1st couple of days, then plyometrics. I was almost in tears. It actually hurt. I know I should've kept with it. Its been like 2 months. I will try again soon.

It came before P90X and it's better for those that want to ease into things rather than diving into the deep end with the P90X. I was in decent shape to begin with but after talking with people I know who are doing the X, I decided I'd rather start slow and work my way up. P90 is no joke though, it's still a very good program.

Going to the gym motivates me more than working out at home. Depends on the person of course when it comes to motivation, but everyone I know that has started P90X have finished it, and some are doing their 2nd run. I'm doing the P90 and just finished day 51. I'm definitely not stopping. I actually like not going to the gym anymore. I save about 20 minutes of drive time, I don't have to wait for machines, and I save $69 a month for our membership at the Y. Now I just press play and I'm done in 45 minutes. NewCliche21
I just bought a new TV to rearrange our room so that my fiancee and I can workout together to be in shape for our September wedding. What I need now, though, are the actual things needed to work out! I was wondering if anyone knew the best place to find the following: 1) The P90X DVDs themselves? Anyone know where I can find them for the lowest price? 2) Dumbbells or weights? We live in a townhouse with no basement, so space is a premium. Anyone have any reccomendations on what the best adjustable weights are/prices/where to buy? 3) Anything else that I'd need that I'm not thinking of? Also, how important is the diet? And does anyone recommend the bands as opposed to the weights? Thanks!
MattFancy
1) You can probably get them for free off of BitTorrent or something similiar 2) I use dumbells and that's what they use in the videos. You can probably get some dumbbells from Wal-Mart 3) They also use resistance bands in the videos too. If you don't have weights those would be good too. Probably need to get a pull up bar as well. If I recall, someone on here had offered a "copy" of their p90X for free or a very low price. 2) Dumbbells or weights? We live in a townhouse with no basement, so space is a premium. Anyone have any reccomendations on what the best adjustable weights are/prices/where to buy? Adjustable DB's are pricey. I would buy a pair of DB's that you can handle for most if not all exercises. 3) Anything else that I'd need that I'm not thinking of? Also, how important is the diet? And does anyone recommend the bands as opposed to the weights? A better body and overall health begins in the kitchen if that's any indication of the importance of diet. Thanks for the answers to you and MF! I hope that the person you mentioned sees this post! The problem with the weights is that I tend to get strong very quickly when I start working out. I can go from 15 lbs to 30 lbs in about two weeks, and that's not being religious. I literally have nowhere to put the weights. I was thinking of those weights where you can just add or subtract iron plates.
GibbsFactor
The adjustables would be great for this program. Also, there is a diet program that comes with this book. Fitness is more about diet then training so if your not eating right it doesn't matter how hard your training. Download an Internet Browser called Opera. Go to a torrent site, find P90x if you don't want to pay for it. I got the pack that came with the exercise bands, the pull up bar and a powder. It came with a book that explains when to do what and breaks down every exercise. It also came with a nutritional manual. Bout $200 paid back in the winter of 08. I_Bleed_B&G
I started the P90x workout about a month ago. I bought the Powerblocks adustable weights. I think they are better then the bowflex adjustables and are cheaper.

Well those are the ones that I saw the commercial for, but I'm thinking more gym-like. I used to have this barbell set where each end of the bar basically looked like a giant screw. You'd put whatever plates/weight you wanted on there, and then you'd use what looked like a really big bolt to screw them onto there. It's hard to explain what I mean. Actually, just found something similar: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=adjustable+dumbbells&cid=2420246322500961897&ei=A3--S-iAIZLolAfMr6zzBA&sa=title&ved=0CCYQ8wIwBjgA#p I started the P90x workout about a month ago. praise_gibbs
Ok, who wants to do the work-outs for me? I have the program but, have difficulty motivating myself with the very little time that I have to spend on it. I lent the program to my brother but, I don't think he did much with it either. I am getting married at the end of August so I need to get this ball in motion to turn my keg into a six pack.

Just press play and do it. if you're not in the best of shape, pace yourself. After 2 weeks you can finish each DVD and will have all the energy in the world. After 2 weeks, you'll be doing those boxer jumps in between sets telling him to hurry up.

BG
Yep, Im on it too. It's a decent program. I was going to the gym for a while, did a program on my own at home that was similar but shorter than p90x. The variety is good, but I feel like I lost some upper body strength after switching programs. All good. I think the overall results are good. I have lost weight, feel much more flexible and am motivated to keep going. I would suggest you take a hard look at your weights. I only had 12, 15 and 25's. Those were usable for maybe 1/2 of the circuits. I bought a set of the manual adjustables with typical 5-10 plates, but they suck. Pain to have to adjust, place plates on and keep the heart rate up. If I can muster up the cash, I would get a bowflex set. Overall, it's good, zaps you for sure and has great variety. The main thing I have found is that it's just a longer workout than most typical workout regimens. Im in week 5 and have plateaud for about two weeks. Hope I start seeing some results soon. Oh, sleep is pretty key. I am not getting enough. Nothing I can do about it, but if you can get 8 hours, GET IT. Trying to do this program off of consistant 4-6 hours of sleep will drain you throughout the day.

KDawg
I can't bring myself to do p90x. I can't fathom how much weaker/smaller I'd be on that program. But for someone that's in decent shape that just wants to lose some pounds? It's money.
