jeostang
Man I wish I had your same enthusiam...I do it every week but generally dread the plyo...just exhausting! Trust me, I didn't always like it.
Rdskn4Lyf21
I hope your right...actually leaving the office now to plyo it up...maybe today I will like it better.... Sort of like Yoga. I despised Yoga for about 2.5 months then fell in love with it. It took me longer for Plyo but I got there
jeostang
I think one reason why I didn't like it was because I was jumping on my hard basement floor. I got some of that soft flooring that you see in gyms. I'm now able to jump higher and complete more jumps. I really like the sports bonus. Brotherz
I love "the X". It has beena wonderrful experience for me despite the herniated disc n my neck that I got in week 12. Ouch!! but I am back on it as of yesterday. Plyos tonite. Even have my girlfriend with me this round. I love it. i think its really incredible not just for the amazing results I got in my body (47 pounds in 90 days!) but the amazing sense of accomplishment when you complete it. The things you are physically capable of doing when your done is the real transformation in my opinion. Being 36 and being able to do pullups and hundreds of pushups and core/abs etc is incredible. Suddenly instead of being "too tired" to go run arond with my 7 year old outside you can! Its a real life changer depending on how out of shape you are now. I was almost 300 pounds when I started so it really was a big deal for me. I am so psyched for round two right now (and very sore today!) For anyone thinking about doing it, go for it. You won't be sorry. Just keep pressing play. Just keep showing up and "do your best and forget the rest!!""

grego
i've done (and just yesterdays started up again) the jilian micheals biggest loser workout. its similar in concept to the p90x workout. its also free on comcast and verizon on demand. it goes like this - you do 3 minutes of strength, but its divided up into four 45 second sets- for example curls combined with lunges for about 45 seconds, then, pushups for 45 seconds, then back to 45 seconds of lunges/curls, then pushups. then you do 2 minutes of cardio, which is 30 seconds of jumping jacks, 30 seconds of butt kicks and repeat. then you do a minute of abs (basically variations on crunches). then you repeat it all 2 more times. she does change up the exercises each circuit, like she'll do rows and dumbell flys, different cardio exercises, etc. and no resting in between sets or anything. the best part about it is, it takes about 20 minutes. and you will be worn out. i have to say i've done marine corps boot camp, had a couple of gym memberships over the years, tried to do my own thing- but if you want to tone up and lose weight in a hurry, i would recommend it. Slateman
So, I'm reluctantly going to cancel my gym membership. Numerous reasons but it comes down to I work 40+ hours a week and go to school for 20. Crappy little season I'm in but I'm not gonna let myself go lol. Anyway, anyone wanna start p90x with me? I started today, but we could offically start next week or whenever you get your stuff in.I just think it would be fun to have a group of ES'ers going in on this together. I also have a burned copy of Shaun T's Insanity which, as the name suggest is insane, If you guys wanna do that instead I'm down. C'mon its the offseason Ummm, if you go to school, aren't you allowed to use the school's weight room for free?
Chicken Fried
I'm talking Lance Armstrong/David Beckham shredded. Low muscle mass, very low fat and lots of muscle tone. It says that you can taylor the program for muscle gain. And you WILL gain some muscle. But not the amount of muscle you could or would gain if you were at the gym. If you don't have a lot of muscle build already, this will certainly see an increase in muscle mass. But if you already have a good bass of muscle mass, you are going to see more tone than anything else. You will get stronger. The strength you get from p90x is probably more "practical" than say a traditional gym. But in reality, we aren't chasing zebras and animals to eat our dinner. So its all in your preference. The best example I'll give you is this: P90X would be great for a tri-athelete (ie swimming, running, biking). The Gym is great for power, strength, and size. Football incoroporates both. In high school, 2 a days were like P90X. But then you would still have to lift weights. I already have a solid base of muscle. I'd like to tone up more and lose a little fat. I'm pretty thin as it is - 6'1" 182 pounds. I'd like to add a little more muscle, not an insane amount, but also lose any excess weight. I also don't want to lose any muscle mass I already have. Would you recommend P90X?
Chicken Fried
By the way, does anybody have experience with tabadas? I want a change of pace. The wrestling team at my high school sometimes did these. I know you'll lose fat really fast, but can you add a noticeable amount of muscle since it's probably a shock to the muscles and would stimulate them to grow, even if for only a short time while doing them? SloppyOneXXVI
Congrats. You just reminded of my favorite part ... Pam the blam ... hahha. Tony Horton is such a loser.... My favorite quote: "Ab Ripper X, I hate it.... but I love it" However; the program is awesome.

Why is he a loser? He's fit, sells a product that works and is excited about it.

You're not going to add an insane amount of muscle through p90x and without a major excess in caloric intake. By the way, does anybody have experience with tabadas? I want a change of pace. It's Tabata. And yes. It's great but not recommended more than two or three times a month, dependent on how intense you get with it. I doubt you'll get any real muscle growth off of it. It's not designed for that.
NOLASKINSFAN
You're not going to add an insane amount of muscle through ANY work out program without a major excess in caloric intake. adjusted IS p90x better than the gym? Hell no, but you need to evaluate your goals and your life right now. For me I can fit in a 60 minute work out but when you add in the compute, waiting for spots your day gets ate up. I'm gonna save the cash for right now. Also, if you don't know your way around a gym yet, p90x is a great way to get acclamated with working out with weights. Unless your going for a true dirty bulk (why? lol) p90x can be tailored to your goals.

MattFancy
Started it up on Monday. Going into day 3 today, pretty sore after the first 2 days, but it feels like its working. I'm hoping to lose 20lbs or so by the time all is said and done.

the_bear_jew
Did it for a while but I also grew tired of the same thing. Plus Tony can get a little monotonous. It definitely works, I lost 20 pounds doing the lean schedule.
skins1206
What size dumbbells are needed for this?
KingGibbs
Like I've said before. P90X definitely looks like it works, but I'm guessing the majority of the people that buy it DO NOT stick with it. Going to the gym motivates me more than working out at home.
MattFancy
What size dumbbells are needed for this? I guess whatever you are comfortable lifting. You do most exercises for 30 seconds. I wouldn't start out with heavy weights until you feel comfortable with the exercises.
