I honestly think that Shanny wants every coaching job except the Redskins. That said when he can't get anything else he will take 50+ mil from Danny and Danny will think that he scored a major coup with the signing.

If this were the case then why did he take his name out of consideration for the Bills job? I think its more that the Redskins still have a head coach and he doesn't want to disrespect the guy by acknowledging he is coming here. That, and I think he's just keeping his options open. Can't blame him on either front.

If he doesn't comes to D.C. but signs anywere else there are two problems. 1. Shanahan shows why all NFL reporters should be fired 2. Danny boy didn't get what he wanted, and he always gets we he wants (if money can buy it).

I think it is a fact....don't see Texans fire Kubica so they can hire Mike Shanahan.

Out of respect for "Kubiak", I don't think he'd ever take the Texans job.

In other news; ESPN is reporting Zorn likely to be fired Monday.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4792287

That's no surprise. The article says...

Whoever follows Zorn will be the seventh coach hired by the Redskins since Daniel Snyder bought the team in 1999.

The next coach will be the fifth coach hired since 1999. Snyder didn't hire Norv and do they really want to count Robiske? He was never seen as the long term solution. Whater the case is... five or seven, that's way too many coaches.

Well said. I don't think that he wants this job, but the money being what it is he will gladly take it and if Dan wants to throw it up in Shanahan's face that he is the owner and he is paying the money to make decisions that is what he is going to do.

Why in the wide world of sports would you guys think that Shanahan would not want to come here?

He is getting 7 mil to sit around a do nothing, do you really believe an extra 3 mil would make him jump into a situation that was not perfect for him (see nfl video from last january) ???

Shanahan has an ego and Washington is a name franchise in the NFL, playing in a division with other high profile teams in Dallas, NY and Philly.

Sure, he could go to Buffalo and try to resurrect a franchise that has to play games in Toronto to increase revenue.

He could also go to the Texans and work in relative obscurity next to the Dallas Cowboys.

Or he could opt to go to a Tampa or St. Louis where rookie coaches might be fired after poor seasons with teams that have little or no talent on their rosters.

I don't think so.

As Casserly indicated, Shanahan's son opted out of his contract as OC in Houston so that indicates Mike won't be going there.

My bet is the Cowboys keep Wade Phillips for another year.

Again, you are left with Buffalo and some other traditionally revenue challenged teams.

Oh, there is the Raiders

I hear that punchin' Tom Cable may be in some trouble there :D

I think it's done, but I'm just glad we have a respected football guy running the operation now. Allen will take this job seriously and personally since his dad coached here. People need to get ready for a bumpy ride, I think Shanahan's a good coach but you don't basically rebuild an entire offense overnight. If they do it right, blow the whole thing up and start rebuilding through the draft. Will probably take about 3 years but we can be a contender by then if they make the right moves. More than anything people just don't want us to be a joke anymore, and I don't think we will if Snyder backs off.
