Of course it's a done deal.

I don't expect us to sniff a wildcard til '11, but from '12 on I want division championships, home paloff games, and a Lombardi.

This is how I feel. I think this new regime has to begin building toward serious contention, not just retooling every two years to be somewhat competitive.

I can be patient assuming this team is being built for a long-term, sustained run at NFC and NFL championships.

Same here, but hiring an old coach genearally isn't the way to do this.

I guess we have to hope he hires his son, and will be building a team with the idea of handing it off to him at some point.

I believe Shanny will be our next head coach... I think it would be a failure if Shanny does not come.. I dont think we will be able to hire a better head coach if it is known he/shanny turned us down at this point (media has already said he will be our next head coach)...I think he will make us a playoff contender his first year...Although I dont think we will win the superbowl anytime soon unless we get lucky with drafting/signing a superstar QB

If this ISN'T a done deal, then everyone's got it wrong. I really liked how the Bruce Allen hiring was kept so well under wraps. If only all company business was handled this way. But the lack of a denial by either party probably means we only need to wait until Sunday night to get our answer.

Unlike every other media outlet out there, I'm doubtful Shanahan is really trying to play other teams against the Skins. Dan will pay far and above top-dollar for something he wants, so this supposed effort by Shanahan to raise the price doesn't hold water.

Well, until it becomes official, and as long as Zorn is still the coach, then it's all speculation. But there have been so much printed about Shanahan coaching the Redskins. If someone in the front office knows more than we do that are tipping the sports writers, then that's why it's being printed.

Interesting http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/01/02/report-bucs-tell-morris-and-staff-that-theyll-be-back/ this aricle from PFT about Morris returning to TB talks about Cowher having one less prospect and doesnt mention Skins or Shanny--- seems like it is iminent hes gonna land here-- although im still skeptical (just a gut feeling) but I just hope we dont hire Jim Fassel:doh:

I honestly think that Shanny wants every coaching job except the Redskins. That said when he can't get anything else he will take 50+ mil from Danny and Danny will think that he scored a major coup with the signing.

I definitely want Shanny as our head coach, but if we pay that man 50 mil, he better bring us back to back Super Bowl trophies.

Why does it matter what we pay him, its not coming out of our pocket, or the cap.

Basically its an issue of whether it bothers us just in general that he makes a lot of money and or we want to make sure that Snyder keeps more of his own money in his pocket.

To the best of knowledge of most sports writers out there he has inked a contract. Don't know the price or terms. Things should be cleared up by Monday night or Tuesday. This should include who his assistant coaches will be.

I don't think it's going to be Shanahan, I think they 're going to throw a curve ball but of course it's just my opinion.

Me too. It seems like we always get a big shocker when it comes to this kind of stuff. For all we know Snyder could announce the TUNA as head coach.

please let it be Gruden.

When Adam Schefter says Shanahan is coming then I'll be 100% sure. He always seems to have the inside scoop of anything related to the Broncos. I would like to see Shanahan here because he would bring in a proven offensive philosophy which the Skins desperately need.

However, if Shanahan is smart, he could be using the Redskins as leverage to get a higher pay day somewhere else. I believe Snyder has really scared off all the big name coaches with his tactics much like Al Davis has with the Raiders. So if Shanahan doesn't come here, it'll probably be an up and coming coordinator that Allen can convince to come.

Guys, ANYTHING can happen. The deal isn't done until the Redskins management says it's done. Period. If you watch NFL Network religiously, you'd know that Shanahan is also talking to other teams as well. Lovie Smith isn't a done deal in Chicago either and Shanny loves Cutler. Don't count out that possibility yet.

Again, no deal is done until it's done. If you can provide a written statement or a link to Dan Snyder saying that we've hired Shanahan then I'm all ears...otherwise its heresay.

It really shouldn't even be a shock anymore .

Another profaound statement BR. I am fully expecting a shock so big that it wont be a shock. He will do something to grab all our hearts again. We'll spend and get all goofy about him. We'll make threads declaring him not being a bad owner and start brown nosing him again. I do it every year!:doh:We'll have the press name us Champions again in the offseason. I won't be at all surprised by a total shocker. I'll never forget the press reaction to Zorn.:yikes::twitch::rolleyes:

While you may have some good points, one would have to wonder why they interviewed Jerry Gray three weeks ago (RE: the Rooney Rule)????

I believe Snyder has been patient, he has kept Zorn till the end of the year, as they said they would. But he is ready to move on, put this terrible season behind us, and bring in Shanahan as quickly as possible.

I would not be surprised if his plane stopped in Denver on the way back from San Diego.
