I think he's going to be our next coach. However, it looked like we were getting Cutler and the deal fell through the very last minute so who knows.

I expect to see the Skins become much more consistent and less of a roller coaster. I expect to see a new QB that plays well consistently. I expect that this roster will have drastic changes in the offseason. I don't expect to see all this overnight. If we draft a new QB, I expect growing pains. Over all, I feel good about Shanahan becoming our HC.

The Cutler deal cant compare, as Cutler was being traded from one team to another, Shanahan is basicaly a free agent.

From what I have read I strongly believe Shanahan is our next HC.

I was hoping for a non-retread, but will be happy if Shanahan brings in his son, who hopefully will replace dad.

As for expectations, I would like to "wish" for a playoff spot next year, but will settle for a over 500 record.

I would expect that if Shanahan does coach all 5 years of his contract, that we make the playoffs at least 3 of those 5 years.

Thats an easy bet for me to win! Not a chance!!!! Guarantee, He won't last more than 2 years if he doesn't make the playoffs! :saber:

He's here no later than Wednesday. It makes too much sense for it not to happen and happen quickly. If not, there'd be a list of names that Allen was planning to interview a mile long. The fact that Gray has already fulfilled the Rooney requirement makes it a slam dunk to happen immediately.

Considering a certain poster has been posting hints and has personally told me info that has all come true for a couple of years now, I am certain we are getting Shanny because he told me so since the off season and has been right about everything for a while now.

I think it's done. My expectations are more based on what we do with the OL and QB, and personell and the kind of progress we make over the offseason, but mostly I have no expectations for his first year, same as when Gibbs came back.

After the first year I expect steady improvement, that's about it. I honestly don't think that's too much, Zorn never had steady improvement, it was more like instant fire, then we dropped off into an abyss, and just kind of kicked the dirt around down at the bottom.

If Shanahan isn't the HC, I'd be pretty shocked, just because there's absolutely nothing about any other coaches or any movement of the GM or Owner and everything already seems pretty settled. However, it's not like I'd be heart broken either, depending on who ends up with the job. Shanahan was probably in my top 3 for the job, but like I said, I won't shed no tears if it idn't him.

I think Snyder already scared off a couple of coaches during this season. I bet he offered Cowher and Chucky deals before Shanny. If dallas didn't make the playoffs than Jerry would have landed Shanny but its all just speculation

Truth.

Luckily the speculation ends soon.

I think when Snyder first starting canvassing the other coaches he tried to maintain a structure where Vinny would have a role in the front office and THAT scared some coaches off.

Finally, when things got really bad, Snyder realized he had to cut Vinny lose to get a Super Bowl coach here and he cut the cord.

In terms of where these coaches go, there is of course the money issue. Then there is the control issue.

But there is also the SPOTLIGHT issue.

Dallas is and always will be the #1 team in the state of Texas.

Shanahan isn't going to Houston to be second banana in the media nationwide to the actions of the Cowboys.

Houston has no history, no national fan base and the ownership is not that open with its wallet.

That's why he's not going there.

Meanwhile, in Washington he's coming to a team with a history, a national following and a chance to be a major media figure working in the fan rabid NFC East, a division that has produced 11 of the Super Bowl champions since the merger, a figure far exceeding any other division in the NFL.

The coach of the Redskins, if he takes the team to 12-4, becomes a major figure in the NFL.

Coaching the Texans, you go 12-4 and you get congrats but in the AFC it's still the Colts, Patriots, Steelers, etc. that are the marquee names.

It would take quite a run of success to put the Texans at that plateau.

Done deal (which disappoints me, honestly. I don't want him...) Anyway, my personal gut feeling is that Shanny's deal was inked 4-6 weeks ago. It's being kept hush until the season is over. I'll bet Zorn "resigns" sometime next week, and that Shanny is announced the next day.

If it's being kept "hush" - label that a "Fail".

When Shanahan and his agent indicated in the press they weren't interested in the Dallas job or the Carolina job if they became open, it was a pretty good indication he had a draft contract from Washington in his pocket.

You don't pre-judge opportunities like that if you are really unsure.

What if Dallas had lost to the Saints and Redskins and Phillips was fired by Jones?

Mike would have taken himself out of a job he could leverage for more money.

True but coming to the 'skins he must make a team go 12-4 in 2 seasons or he's fired. Now he'll be starting from scratch too. Good luck with that!

Sorry. Thats the truth. I am not a fan of signing Shanahan.

You know most so called NFL reporters don't know jack, but the one that seems to be on the money the most is Adam Schefter and he has shot down all rumors of Shanny coaching elsewhere. So, yeah I think Shanny is our next HC but I wouldn't be shocked by anything until the press conference happens. I think the fans should be patient the first couple years of whoever the coach is. Let him find his QB and build the Oline and fix the messes made by Snyder and Cerrato.
