royallypwned
That's what I'm sayin'. The Eagles aren't known as chokers, the Cowboys are. The Cowboys had nothing to lose so they played well. See what I'm sayin? The Eagles just laid an egg, but its not what they're known for. At least not this early. They just have the late playoff choker label. While we knew we couldn't get a bye because the Vikes won, and while we knew we were in the playoffs, the Cowboys were still playing for a home game next week. So it may not have been as important as last season's game, it was still the difference between a home game and road game to open the playoffs. ArmchairRedskin
But there wasn't the pressure of a loss and go home. I don't know how I can make that any clearer.

CowboysSaintsFan
If I'm not mistaken, the Eagles have not won a game against a team that is in the 2009 playoffs. They DID beat the Giants 2 X's, a team we got swept by, and they beat Denver, whom we lost to. I'm thrilled the Cowboys won, but Philly just looked TERRIBLE today - McNabb OFF, his receivers dropping passes and running bad routes, McDermott calling no blitzes in the 1st half(and when he did in the 2nd half, it paid off, but it was too little too late), penalties(Jason Peters late in the 1st half that may have costed them a FG opportunity), Akers missing a FG he normally makes, Reid's game plan was lukewarm, the D players playing out of position, etc. Typical of any team coming off a long win streak, just showed little emotion. Again - great win for us, but I'm not holding my breath over this team having another off game next week.
doncherry
But there wasn't the pressure of a loss and go home. I don't know how I can make that any clearer. It's clear. It's also an excuse. Dallas won because the game didn't mean anything, or meant very little. Have you ever played any competitive sport?
PF Chang
If I'm not mistaken, the Eagles have not won a game against a team that is in the 2009 playoffs. Not surprising. In the NFL, you play 16 games. Not five. I still will never understand why most people thought Philly was the NFC favorite because they beat some bad teams consecutively. If Redskins fans thought we were turning the corner when we beat Oakland and "played teams tough," well then they're stupid. Dallas has at least beaten some good teams. So have NO and Minny. The notion that it was likely that the NFC winner would be Dallas or Philly was flawed from the beginning. It is possible, not some sort of likely scenario. Have you ever played any competitive sport? I'm guy aren't I? Of course I've played competitive sports. Football and Baseball. What does that have to do with anything? Nothing. It's a weak attampt to discredit me somehow by deflecting attention away from the facts. When the season is on the line, be it at the end of the regular season, or be it in the playoffs, the Cowboys have failed every single time. It's a mindset. You try to be perfect or do too much and you end up hurting yourself. Romo sits to pee has been overwhelmed by nerves more than once. That's not some sort of made up thing. It's a real thing that teams have to overcome.

CowboysSaintsFan
the eagles aren't known as chokers? have you been watching the nfl this past decade? They would go deep in the playoffs almost every year under Reid/McNabb - yeah, that Super Bowl against the Pats was a big choke job, but they ARE competitive in the playoffs every year. Wish I can say the same thing about the Cowboys and Saints. Wasn't Bud Grant 0-4 in Super Bowls? I don't think he's labeled as a choker.

ArmchairRedskin
Listen, I don't know why any of you Cowboys fans are disputing anything I said. It's all true. There's no disputing it. What you should be saying instead is "yeah, you're right, but Romo sits to pee has played well all December this year, and we've won all our December games so this year could be different". All I can say to that is we'll have to wait and see. Oh wait, that's what I said in the first place.

PF Chang
the eagles aren't known as chokers? have you been watching the nfl this past decade? I figure you have to be favored for it to be a choke. Let's see: Eagles chokes: 2008 -- Possibly Arizona, but not really 2003 -- NFCCG, Carolina 2002 -- NFCCG, Tampa Bay Wouldn't call them chokers except 2002 and 2003 NFCCG's. Their problem is that they are consistently overrated because they produce big plays, which seems to be what everybody thinks makes a great football team. Whatever. Dallas chokes: 2008 -- Possibly last Eagles game. Not much of a choke though, doubt they were even favored? 2007 -- Huge choke against NYG in divisional round. 2006 -- Dunno if this counts as a choke by my criteria but that Romo sits to pee fumble is pretty bad and is definitely an individual choke 2005 -- They did **** the bed pretty bad against Washington, though it wasn't a playoff game or a playoff clinching game. 2003 -- Loss to Carolina in playoffs, not a choke though Dunno. Neither team has succeeded in the playoffs ultimately. Philly chokes on a bigger stage. The few chokes of Dallas are particularly memorable. You beat them twice in the regular season, had a 13-3 record and homefield advantage. That was a choke. Did you see the last two offensive series in that game? Romo sits to pee looked totally lost. I don't think anybody thought NYG was gonna take that. I mean, by that logic, Philly's loss to Tampa Bay (eventual champs) wasn't a choke either. Then Philly would have very few legit chokes and Armchair's assertion would basically be right.
PF Chang
I will say in a game thought to be even that the Eagles did basically choke today. The difference between #2 seed and bye in a suddenly "vulnerable" NFC is monumental between #6 seed, three road games to the SB, and first game on the road against a team that just beat your ass. ArmchairRedskin
Romo sits to pee is not the reason they lost that game. the wr's dropped td's. Nobody dropped a TD. Crayton dropped a long pass, but it was not a TD. And besides, that wan't the end of the game. Romo sits to pee was totally lost. The whole offense looked out of whack. Don't defend Romo sits to pee. It's ok to admit that he wasn't good late in that game.
Rskins91
they have been this good all year. they have had some horrible luck. Um, horrible luck? How many injuries do you have? How many players are on IR or were even dinged up during the season? Dallas has had fantastic luck this year. To say the Dallas team playing now is equal to the team that got pummeled by Green Bay earlier in the year is asinine. As much as it pains me to admit it, Dallas has turned a big corner and they're heading into the playoffs with good momentum. Shutting out our sorry offense is one thing, but the Eagles offense? That is something else all together, even if the Eagles barely showed up.
PF Chang
One thing is for sure, shouldn't have much Eagles fan bull**** going on for at least the week. Anyone picking Philly next week is not going to be basing it on a single thing that doesn't revolve around the past. I really can't think of one objective reason to believe that Dallas won't win next week.
