Burgundy Burner
Congrats to the eagles - NFC East Chumps. The eagles defense performed like chumps today - again, congrats! Pay homage to the NFC East Chumps - the Philthadelphia Eagles! Pay homage to the ultimate choke and puke meister, Donny McNabb - aka McChoke, McPuke, McSeeYaNextYear. Pay homage to the "Whale Floundering On The Beach Award" - Andy Reid! Pay homage to the team that continues to add nothing to their trophy case - the Philthadelphia Eagles! Hey now, I get to bump my chest out for a week . Next week will probably have a different outcome and I won't be as happy . Just fun from me. No bad intent and I know Philly has a great team. schmitty_199
Been saying that for a few weeks now. The dude is becoming elite over there. May need to change my name soon Yeah Jenkins has been the best defensive back on the team this season. He'll start getting some serious recongition next season imo, dudes an extremely good football player.

royallypwned
That was a fun game. Back-to-back shutouts for the Cowboys for the first time in team history. The defense has been impenetrable. But honestly, I think the Saints game was an impressive a defensive performance as either of the shutouts.
NoCalMike
I hate the Cowboys, but they do have momentum going into the postseason. Also, winning the superbowl always has a little bit of luck involved and the Cowboys have been very fortunate as far as the injury bug goes. The Cowboys are a pretty healthy team going into the playoffs. Lastly, they are also fortunate the #1 & #2 seeds are both dome teams. That means unless one of those teams get upset, the Cowboys will be playing any and all playoff games on Turf under a dome, which is going to help them. A lot of times dome teams struggle outside in bad weather against other very good teams. Add all this together, and the Cowboys are "that team no one wants to have to deal with" in the 2010 postseason. I can't say good luck though, of course! ArmchairRedskin
possibly the least insightful thing I've read today.... It's not like there's nothing to it. When Romo sits to pee has been faced with winning or ending the season, he has invariably ended the season.

ABQCOWBOY
I don't necessarily think that you throw away stats from teams over a given season but I do believe that the best indicator of a teams performance is looking at what teams have done over a period of three games. Because the NFL is such that so many things change, injuries to players, game conditions, whatever it is, I don't really think you can go much past that. If you look at what the Eagles and the Cowboys have done over the past three games, here is what you see.Eagles Defensively (last 3 games): 27 pts given up, 241 yards given up. Denver 13 pts given up, 261 yards given up. 49ers 38 pts given up, 512 yards given up. NYG 78 pts or 26 pts per game and 1014 total yards or 338 yards per game. Dallas Defensively (last 3 games): 0 pts given up, 208 yards given up. Skinz 17 pts given up, 336 yards given up. Saints 20 pts given up, 341 yards given up. Chargers 37 pts or 12.3 per game and 885 total yards or 295 yards per game. Obviously, certain things factor into these things. Quality of offenses faced, home or away etc. Denver is the 19th ranked offense YPG and 19th with Pts scored. (@ Philly) 49ers have the 29th ranked offense YPG and 19th in Pts scored. (@ Philly) Giants have the 6th ranked offense YPG and 8th in Pts scored. (@ NY) Skinz have the 23rd ranked offense YPG and the 26th in Pts scored. (@Wash.) Saint have the #1 ranked offense YPG and are number 1 in Pts scored. (@ N.O.) Chargers have the 11th ranked offense YPG and are number 2 in pts scored. (@ Dal.) If I look at these stats, my opinion on who has the better defense right now is pretty clear. However, everybody is welcome to make up their own minds and come Sunday, it won't matter who thinks what. It will all be proven on the field, which is OK with me. Revised: Eagles Defensively (last 4 games): 24 pts given up, 474 yards given up. Dallas 27 pts given up, 241 yards given up. Denver 13 pts given up, 261 yards given up. 49ers 38 pts given up, 512 yards given up. NYG 102 pts or 25.5 pts per game and 1488 total yards or 372 yards per game. Dallas has the 3rd ranked YPG, 15th in Pts Scored. (@ Dallas) Dallas Defensively (last 4 games): 0 pts given up, 228 yards given up. Eagles 0 pts given up, 208 yards given up. Skinz 17 pts given up, 336 yards given up. Saints 20 pts given up, 341 yards given up. Chargers 37 pts or 9.25 per game and 1113 total yards or 278.25 yards per game. Eagles have the 8th ranked offense YPG, 4th in Pts Scored. (@ Dallas) Now, while I really enjoyed the effort the Cowboys made today, the playoffs are here and we do this thing all over again. It's the NFC East and stats mean little in these kinds of games. Anything can happen but I think it's pretty clear that the Eagles defense is CLEARLY not better. The Eagles defense is very good and so is the Cowboys defense. I hate the Eagles more then any other team in the League but I do respect them. Next week, we'll see what we see. Ken
Its not win or go home. Both teams were going to the post season either way. Sure a win is good, but it's not like a loss would have ended the season. So now this is the new mantra? Nothing like moving the goal posts when it doesn't fit the agenda. First he couldn't play in December. Then he couldn't beat Philly for the division and playoff seeding, now he can't win when it is win or go home? Gotcha. That's what I'm sayin'. The Eagles aren't known as chokers, the Cowboys are. The Cowboys had nothing to lose so they played well. See what I'm sayin? The Eagles just laid an egg, but its not what they're known for. At least not this early. They just have the late playoff choker label.
jchap
If I'm not mistaken, the Eagles have not won a game against a team that is in the 2009 playoffs.
