While cutting would send a message of accountability, whatever decision is made to make sure he isn't our kicker the rest of the season, I am all for. http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nfl/news/story?id=4759632 By Ed Werder ESPN Archive The Dallas Cowboys' concerns regarding erratic place-kicker Nick Folk have forced the team to again consider potential options for replacing him, according to team sources. Folk has missed a league-high 10 field-goal attempts, and his failure on a 24-yarder in New Orleans that could have clinched Saturday's upset of the Saints has reinforced internal concerns that Folk's issues are mental. Some within the organization think his miss demonstrates that he cannot be trusted on kicks of any length, the sources said. The Cowboys are reluctant to release Folk because they believe he can eventually be effective again. Since he underwent offseason hip surgery, the team might consider placing him on injured reserve so that he might work through his current problems and return next season. Veteran Jason Elam might be the best option outside the organization. He was released by Atlanta on Dec. 1. after barely making half his attempts. First off I believe Folk is right-footed, and there's no way the Cowboys put him on IR. He's done as a Cowboy and should have been cut after the game against the Chargers. I said that because I think that it would be an easier transition to a new kicker if the new guy were also right-footed. It's not like it's an important position or anything. My thoughts are why aren't the letting David Buehler kick? He kicked at USC. He's already on the roster for his kickoffs, so he has a strong leg. Cowboys12 Posted December 21, 2009 Share Posted December 21, 2009 Buehler is a kick off specialist and plays on the punting unit, he will probably never translate into an NFL field goal kicker but he validates his roster spot by doing more than just kicking off.
