I would vote, but I don't have a preference between Shanahan and Gruden. And, if Allen decided to keep Zorn, I'd be confident enough in him that I'd be okay with that too. So, after ranting and raving today about how I didn't want Zorn there, in the end, I really don't care since a football guy is making football decisions for the first time in a decade.

I'd honestly take Zorn over the other two right now. I want our OWN coach. It might not make the most football-sense (I'm pretty positive that it doesn't), but re-treads just rub me the wrong way. If the next few games go well, I'd have no problem with Zorn staying. If they go poorly, then I want us to look for a young and hungry coach that will be with us for a long time.

I think the year out of football did Jon Gruden a tremendous amount of good. When I hear him on TV he seems to have had the time to gain an appreciation of the game. He has spent this time studying up other coaches using access to their operations that he wasnt granted as an opponent. The thing that really makes me want Gruden to be the coach is his admiration of Sean Payton. I think if he comes back to coaching he will use a lot of what he learned from Payton.

I had to vote for Zorn for continuity's sake. The players seem to be picking up the system and if the finish out strong I think he deserves the chance. The players are playing for him and are still motivated to give it their all even though the playoffs have long been out of the picture, which to me makes the HC look good. I would also like to try Russ Grimm out as HC if we could get him. But in the end we should probably let Bruce Allen do the job he was hired to do and let him decide.:gaintsuck:gaintsuck

Also, Gruden talks on the Bruce Allen Hiring:

"Bruce Allen is a great football mind and an even better person. His background and understanding of the Washington Redskins' tradition will be a huge asset to the Redskins. He is a leader and a great fit for this job. He's a big reason why I had any success in coaching. I'm really happy for him and I wish him the best."

IVoted zorn my reasoning is this. Vinny basically gave zorn a team that looked good on the surface but the engine had problems noteably no o line depth. Also the quote about winning in spite of zorn was just plain assanine honestly zorn has been coaching like a mad man to get the kind o f production that hes gotten out of in some cases off the street f.a."s big problem is that earlier this season danny and vinnys boys had too much pull that may not be the case now with a new head man in charge. you may see some of the people that didnt produce this year finding employment in new places next year....

I believe anyone but Zorn will start us on a 3 year "wait til next year" run. Shanahan was in Denver for what, 20 years and had two Super Bowls because of Elway. Chucky had one. Zorn has zero in 2 years. Let Zorn audition over the next 3 games. If team is 2-1 or better againt playoff calber teams (including helping to send the Cowpatties home) then I say he's earned the rigth to come back. 1-2 or worse or fails to beat Cowflops, and he's gone.

Think of him as a placeholder for Chucky unless he goes 10 wins or better in his last year.

I'd hate to see the offense go backward.

I'm surprised at all the keep Zorn votes. Wait, no I'm not.

Shanahan. I think he'd work well with Snyder and Allen.

Seriously.

So we have three choices..

One, keep the guy we have that is way over his head, doesn't call plays and should never have been hired as the HC.

Two, a guy who is a locker room cancer as a coach, has running feuds with players and has a fascination for collecting average QB's on his roster.

or

Three, Mike Shanahan. Hmmm... This one isn't that hard. :silly:

I'm surprised at "working well with Snyder" as a pre-requisite to anything good for the Redskins.
As has been reported in various articles, blogs, and news stories, Shanahan and Snyder are friends. Say what you want about Snyder (I surely have), but to have any type of team that's completely not bassackwards dysfunctional, the HC preferrably should be able to have a functioning relationship with the owner.
Shanahan. I liked it when Portis ran for 5.5 yards per carry.
As much as I love Portis (most of the time), I would bet all my money that he won't be here next year...especially if Shanahan comes in. Regardless of who comes in as HC, I don't see Portis here next season.

Right now its Zorn... The team is playing hard for him and there is 3 more games to go. After that you may get a different answer from me but for now its just wait and see what happens.

If this team wins out I wonder how everyone will react? Its a bit of a big if right now but stranger things have happened (See Tennesee Titans) in the NFL and I think this is one that is possible...

With 3 games left its just too early to make assumptions for me
