Personally? I Would Love To See Casserly Back In The Fold

I know this is going to be met with resistant, but I would love to see Casserly come back home. I watch him on CBS and Wapo live and this guy is clearly in touch with both the college and NFL game.

The criticism he faced when choosing Mario Williams over Reggie Bush pretty much led to him resigning, but we all know that the decision was beyond justified. He left Houston a very respectable franchise and they have been on the cusp of making the playoffs since he has left. Sign me up for Charley.

Honestly, that would not be a bad move. Wasn't he responsible for getting all of the Saints draft picks in exchange for the Skins first pick, which they used to get Ricky Williams?

No, Ditka was...he was yelling from the mountaintops that he'd trade all those picks for the chance to draft Ricky Williams. All Casserly had to do was say "ok" lol...hardly an example of his GM prowess.

You mean because he left lol ...

Erm. No?

I don't understand the hatred for this guy, to be honest.

He'd be a much better GM than Vinny will ever be...

As long as we hire a real GM... DeCosta, Casserly, Allen, Holmgren, whoever... I'm okay with it. It's the first time we've had a real GM in years. Let's see what happens.

You want compelling?

During Casserly's tenure as GM, the Texans went 4–12 in their inaugural season of 2002, then improved to 5–11 in 2003 and 7–9 in 2004 before slumping to a disappointing 2–14 record in 2005. During the 2005 season, while the Texans were 1–12, team owner Bob McNair hired former NFL coach Dan Reeves to serve as a consultant to help McNair evaluate his team. After the end of the season, head coach Dom Capers was fired by McNair. Casserly was criticized for a number of personnel moves, including trading second and third round picks to the Oakland Raiders for Phillip Buchanon in 2005. Buchanon was a poor player for the Texans in 2005, and was released by the team after the first four games of the 2006 season. In a public interview, McNair criticized the trade for Buchanon, saying that the front office had not done its homework.

So the Texans went 18-46 during Casserly's time there as GM...his coach got fired...the owner publicly criticized some of Casserly's personnel moves...and the team improved significantly once he left to 28-33. And of course that makes him perfect for the Redskins.
