TJ, I'm nearly broke this year, in fact lost most of my life's savings.

I still love Christmas! I'm sad that you feel that the twisted commercial version of Christmas is all that it's about.

Tell you what....

If you need a family this year as a surrogate, feel free to come down to charlotte and celebrate with mine. Everyone needs that support and love this time of year and even if I dont know you, you are welcome to be a part of our family.

I love getting together with the family, having a big dinner, exchanging gifts, etc.

But what I hate is fighting the crowds at the mall, the annoying f'ing commercials on TV, the fact that stores start putting up Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving, and people that leave their lights up until April.

It's times like these when I wish I had photoshop skills  (you could put something "funny" in his right hand. and by funny I mean homo-erotic :D)

That said- TJ, can we just have one thread for your ****ing and moaning? We could call it the merged adventures of Toe Jam whining.

For those of you who don't feel about Christmas like they used to- I was one too. But once you have kids you find yourself loving this time of year again because you get to see how magical it is for them.

And last but not least, very nice gesture by SnyderShrugged! That is exactly what the Holiday Season is truly about.

Thanks Zoony and no doubt!! I fear that this is one of the last years where my eldest daughter still believes in Santa. I'll really miss those magical memories that she and my other daughter have created for us.

hey, dont you have a new edition to the family for the first time this year? (That was you, right? hoping I didnt get the wrong guy!)

I love Christmas. I love the lights and the fact that it represents the birthday of Jesus. There are parts that annoy me though. Christmas Carols annoy me. The commercialization of Christmas annoys me. Kay Jewelers really annoy me..... "Here, show your girl how much you love her by spending 5k on a diamond that has nothing to do with a wedding ring, because that's the only way to show you care. Every kiss begins with Kay..." Ugggh........

Yea I understand what TJ means about all the commercialism with Christmas and how it can make you feel pretty lame if you cannot buy nice gifts for everyone but definitely not what Christmas is about at all. Maybe I am just lucky to have a family that appreciates the thought and effort of what we give each other for Christmas rather than the price. I just love the lights, the music, the fun, the family and the food! Plus I love the look on my 6 year old sisters face as she opens her gifts. Nothing better than a kid enjoying Christmas!

TJ, all kidding aside, can you explain in a little more detail what it is about Christmas you don't like?

I'm a grown man (at least according to my age) and I still get giddy when those claymation specials come on. We exchange gifts of course, but that's pretty far down the list of the things my immediate and extended families care about.

I just love a month-long excuse to be in the Christmas spirit...in fact (and I know I'm not alone in this), I actually get a little sad when Christmas actually gets here. I love THIS time of year, not actually 12/25 when gifts are exchanged.

So, if you don't mind, other than spouting off that it's commercial and you don't have money, can you seriously post the things you don't like about the holiday season?

Christmas is like a record playing on repeat over and over again.

Every year, even before Thanksgiving, people start getting a little too into it for my tastes. I don't care if others like it, I don't make a point to ruin their fun. I just don't like Christmas. I never really have, not since I was like thirteen or so.

The whole concept of getting together with family terrifies me. I spend most of my time around and on Christmas with friends. And I enjoy that. But I don't look at it like most.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't mind the fact most people love this time of year. That's your choice, and I can understand why people enjoy it. I just don't. I started this thread because I figured there were others out there who don't like it either. I know I can't be the only one.

It's not so much a money thing, really. I'm not completely broke. But I don't use Christmas as an excuse to buy gifts for people; I do it periodically throughout the year. Maybe I'm just a scrooge. But I won't **** on someone's parade because of my disdain for the holidays.

I really think some of the perceptions and opinions expressed in this thread are unfair. I don't have to enjoy the holidays, and for some of you to act like I'm a monster because I don't is ridiculous.

EDIT: And as for the comment on condoning cruelty to animals, I have to say, KG, that you're a bit late to the TJ bashing party on that one and should probably come up with something else.

Wait, what other whining thread was this merged with? Or is it a preemptive strike?

Preemptive strike.:silly:

In all seriousness, I'm not that much of a whiner. I just don't like Christmas. When I have kids, I'll probably learn to love it. Not today though.:)

Yes! new baby girl. At 5 months old, she'll be plenty happy just playing with wrapping paper. I'll long for these days I'm sure when she asks me for a Playstation 3 and 5 games to go with it.

For our 3 1/2 year old, Christmas this year is just magical. He's really "getting" this whole Santa Claus thing.

Umm. I was at the party little guy. Perhaps you got a little too drunk with your ignorance and forgot?

Anyway.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TJ!!!!!

Best response of the thread.

That's what Christmas is all about.

But that's just this Jew's opinion. :)

That's an awesome gesture.

This will mark the first Christmas that I've ever spent with my Dad since I was four. And so I'll stick it out because I know it will mean the world to him. Part of me will enjoy that.

He really gets into it. And that's fine; I don't hate people who love Christmas. Maybe my feelings will change after this year. You never know.

That's great Zoon. I know you are loving this time of the year having little ones.

Awesome! (Congrats again on the little one!) You have many grerat years of fun ahead of you too! I think you will find that the small gap in ages will help to extend the fun over the loing haul too.

I know its early but a hearty Merry Christmas to you and yours!
